Chapter 55: Step 55 to Greatness: You Mustn’t Take Advantage of Someone, But Don’t turn Them Away Either

Adrian let out a long sigh and tapped on the contract to view its terms. He would lecture Sera later about what she did wrong. Besides, the situation was urgent, so that might have factored into her decision.

It wasn’t a total copy of Sera’s contract, but it was even better. It seemed Midas was really desperate for help to give away the right to their shelter along with everything they possessed.

Adrian, realizing how useful having another base could be, quickly signed the contract.

[You have successfully signed an Enslavement Contract with Player Hannah Mills a.k.a. <Midas’ Middle Fingers>.]

Now that they had signed the contract

Hannah, so it’s a girl after all.

Adrian didn’t ponder on her gender reveal for long and just sent her a message now that she was one of his servants.

<Adrian>: What’s the current situation at your shelter?

The reply came as soon as he sent the text.

<Hannah>: I don’t know! I can only see three boar-like creatures ramming their heads into the fence! It is an epic-grade fence, but it might break if they keep attacking it like this. It has already lost a third of its durability!

Three wild boars?

Adrian was a bit confused. From what he knew about boars, although they were aggressive, they rarely ever were so determined to attack someone until and unless they had been threatened or attacked first.

He wanted to ask Hannah about it, but it wasn’t the time. He could do it after saving her first.

<Adrian>: Any other beasts or people around?

<Hannah>: No, just the three boars. I would’ve waited them out, but I got a blueprint today that needs specific materials before tomorrow. If I don’t get them, I’m finished when the monsters come tomorrow.

The more they talked, the more interested Adrian seemed in her talent for finding rare things. But he also knew Hannah did not mention the blueprint in passing.

She did it deliberately so Adrian would help her, even for the sake of a blueprint that could stop a horde of monsters. It was the same when she mentioned the grade of her fence.

She’s elevating her importance. Not that she needed to do that. Her luck is more than enough for me to take her in.

Finally, it was time for the last and the most important question.

<Adrian>: How many people can that crystal teleport?

<Hannah>: Three people max. Please hurry up, sir!

He even asked her if she had more crystals. If she did, he could have brought the entire tribe, minus Amika, with him. Unfortunately, she did not have any more crystals.

Adrian didn’t delay it further and called for Mika and Sera. Since the crystal could only teleport three people, he picked the ones with a system.

[Boy, are you going to trust her blindly?]

Did you not read the contract? She is not allowed to lie to me. That’s why I explicitly asked if there were any other monsters or people there.

[You might not be as hopeless as we thought.]

[Keep it up and I would have to go back to flirting with the ladies in the afterlife to be entertained.]

You mean to say—

[Yes. Soon, you won’t require our supervision, boy. Not like we do it all the time anymore since you lost the big V.]

Adrian heard the Playboy ancestor’s words, and it made him happy and a bit... empty?

Happy because the ancestors now trusted his judgement enough to not to intervene in his life decisions, and empty because he had gotten used to their snarky comments.

Then again, it was probably for the best if they didn’t hold his hand for every little thing. Adrian looked at the glowing blue teleportation crystal in his hand and placed it on the ground.

Based on Hannah’s instructions, it would activate by itself when stepped on. Before activating it, he pulled out his honed bone dagger and handed it to Sera while taking her spear from her.

"Use this now," he told her.

"Master... I’m not good with daggers," Sera said, trying to give the dagger back to him. "I can barely use a spear properly, and this is an epic-grade weapon too! It would be wasted on me."

As she said that, Adrian’s mind went back to the sight of Seraphine churning the insides of a wolf with her spear. Besides, although Adrian was taking her with him, he knew Seraphine would be returning with them.

"You can’t. But your other half can," he said, pushing the dagger back in her hands. "Besides, if things go south, I need you to be able to protect yourself."

As for Mika, she had the best armor among them, and her skills were good with the spear. A boar shouldn’t be an issue for her. The next time, he would find a better weapon for her as well.

Once everyone was in their armor and armed, they stepped on the crystal one after another. A bright blue light flashed around them, and the world twisted for a moment.

When the light faded, they found themselves standing in front of a strange three-story wooden house reinforced with rough stones. It was much taller than their longhouse and looked sturdy.

The sudden change in environment made them a bit dizzy. But it passed quickly. A moment later, the sound of heavy impacts drew their attention to the outside.

They turned around to see three fairly normal-sized boars were ramming into the stone fence. Adrian noticed the stone fence and was surprised. In just one gaze, he could tell it was a rare or epic-grade fence. It was the same with the house, too.

However, he couldn’t help but notice that one section of the fence was already badly bent inward. The boars must have done a number on it.

"Male, those look like the creature that chased us from the orchard!" Mika pointed out, gripping her spear tightly. "But they look much smaller than the one we saw."

"Bigger than these?" Adrian asked, only to remember about Savage Earth’s unique nature. "Ah, so these could be the babies compared to that boar."

Mika nodded, and her words only confirmed Adrian’s thought that it was an alpha-grade beast.

In that case, I can just use these boars as practice.

Adrian nodded and took out the axe, ready to kill them when the door of the house burst open, and a petite figure came rushing out.

Before they could get a better look at her, she tripped over her own feet and fell face-first into the dirt in front of Adrian’s feet.

She pushed herself up and wiped the dirt off her face, revealing a face that looked more like a pretty boy’s than a girl’s.

She was quite flat-chested and had a slim waist that accentuated her behind. Much like him, she too had tanned skin.

While Adrian was looking at the girl, her eyes locked onto him as well. Then, without any hesitation, she ran forward and grabbed his hand with both of hers.

"Thank you! Thank you so much for coming!" she exclaimed in relief before shaking everyone’s hands there. "I’m Hannah, or Midas, or middle fingers, whatever you want to call me!"
