Dual Worlds: I Have a Doomsday World
Chapter 100: A Change of Attitude
The lab door suddenly opened. The newcomer was Liu Weicai, who had higher clearance than Lin Qi.
Liu Weicai’s expression was quite puzzled. "You completed two L-Class research projects?"
Liu Weicai wasn’t asking Lin Qi, but the two L-level Researchers.
The two L-level Researchers smiled awkwardly and replied, "The two of us basically just did the grunt work."
Only then did Liu Weicai’s gaze shift to Lin Qi.
’Is this for real?’
’Lin Qi has only been studying Pharmacy for a few days, right? And he can already lead an L-Class project to completion?’
Lin Qi spoke up. "L-Class projects aren’t that difficult. I think I should start looking at some A-Class literature."
This was Lin Qi’s true goal.
To Lin Qi, the bonus from L-Class research projects was better than nothing, but that was all.
After completing the Mercenary Corps mission, Lin Qi was no longer the poor man he’d been just days before.
Liu Weicai glanced at Lin Qi, then at the two finished samples on the lab bench.
"We’ll verify the sample data tonight. If it passes the company’s L-Class assessment, I’ll arrange for you to work on a joint project with an A-level Researcher tomorrow."
Liu Weicai made his decision after careful consideration.
The company’s current situation wasn’t optimistic, but that was a problem for the operations department.
The R&D department’s funding and personnel were still under Liu Weicai’s management.
As a member of the Liu Clan, Liu Weicai firmly believed the company wouldn’t collapse.
For this reason, even at a time like this, Liu Weicai was still thinking about cultivating talent for the company.
And in Liu Weicai’s eyes, Lin Qi was top-tier talent.
’He has the Ability, has connections, and will most likely become one of the Liu Clan’s "own people" in the future.’
If he didn’t properly cultivate such a talent, Liu Weicai would feel he wasn’t living up to his own name.
"Thank you, Supervisor. Can I leave early today? This morning’s events were quite frightening, and I need to rest."
Lin Qi seized the opportunity to make his request.
The Mercenary Corps had a mission to carry out tonight, and Lin Qi needed to make some preparations in advance.
Liu Weicai nodded. In truth, all the company’s A-level Researchers had already fled for the day.
Only Lin Qi, whose A-Class status was heavily padded, would continue working.
Now that Lin Qi had proven he had the ability to quickly become a true A-level Researcher, Liu Weicai’s attitude toward him quietly shifted once again. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Thank you, Supervisor." Lin Qi first thanked Liu Weicai, then turned to the two L-level Researchers. "I’ll leave the remaining verification work to you. Thank you both for your cooperation over the past few days."
Although these two L-level Researchers had muttered about Lin Qi behind his back, their performance and work ethic had remained up to par.
The two L-level Researchers suddenly stopped what they were doing and stared at Lin Qi with hopeful eyes.
Gone was the attitude they had when they were gossiping behind his back. One of them asked, "Boss, can we still follow you on projects tomorrow?"
"Boss, we’re really fast workers! You won’t find any L-level Researchers more diligent than us."
All sorts of ideas bloomed in the minds of the two L-level Researchers, but their goal was simple.
’If we stick with Lin Qi, with this kind of project completion speed, even if it’s just for a month, how big would the bonus be?’
’It would have to be equal to a whole year’s salary, right?’
No one would turn their nose up at Credit Points.
Lin Qi shook his head. "Starting tomorrow, I’ll be initiating an A-Class project. You two aren’t a good fit."
He rejected the two L-level Researchers with a single sentence.
The bonuses from the two L-Class projects were more than enough to compensate them for their work over the past few days.
Their usefulness to Lin Qi had reached its end. To absorb new knowledge, Lin Qi needed an A-level Pharmacy Researcher.
If he let them continue following him, he’d just be letting them freeload.
After his refusal, Lin Qi walked out of the lab, no longer involving himself in the remaining stages of the L-Class project.
The two researchers were a bit disappointed.
Liu Weicai shook his head and walked out of the lab with Lin Qi.
On the way out, Liu Weicai gave a special instruction: "Remember to apply for an A-Class project tomorrow. It’ll make it easier for me to make the arrangements."
Liu Weicai had completely abandoned his former pursuit of fairness.
The so-called joint research project was, in reality, just him using his authority to assign Lin Qi an A-level Researcher as a private tutor.
Theoretically, this was against company rules.
However, Lin Qi’s designation was legitimately A-Class, an arrangement made by Liu Xuan.
This made Liu Weicai’s actions completely compliant with the rules. It just meant a certain A-level Researcher would have to suffer a little.
"Understood. Thank you, Supervisor."
Lin Qi thanked him again.
Lin Qi believed that once he started reading and studying A-Class Pharmacy literature and knowledge, he would be able to quickly master the methods for preparing Extraordinary Materials.
He didn’t need to quickly master the production of A-Class Potions.
Lin Qi only needed to be able to replicate the Extraordinary Materials required for L-Class Potions in the Doomsday World.
He needed to create an enhanced version of the L-Class Potion in the Doomsday World.
This would allow his physical fitness to improve at a pace that could keep up with his Wizard Level.
’An enhanced M-level Potion might not be worth much on its own. But combined with L-Class Potions, it means I’ll possess a method to rapidly advance Extraordinary Professionals like Martial Artists and Knights to Tier Two.’
’In terms of wealth, the value would probably exceed one hundred million Credit Points, maybe even more.’
Lin Qi was prepared. Even if he could produce this type of potion soon, he wouldn’t bring it to the Cyber World.
He would apply it in the Doomsday World first.
He would use it to expand the power of the Survivor Camp.
He would accumulate enough Extraordinary Items until he was powerful enough to protect himself in the Cyber World.
Only after all that would it be time for this type of potion to make its debut.
Perhaps by then, the power, technology, and wealth Lin Qi controlled would be enough to build a brand-new mega-corporation.
At that point, Lin Qi would have finally established a firm foothold in the Cyber World.
In a cheerful mood, he clocked out and walked out of the company’s main gate.
His bodyguard, Brother Green Hair, was still providing cover from the shadows.
Brother Green Hair’s nerves had been stretched taut all day.
He kept his eyes glued on Lin Qi, terrified that the VIP would get into any sort of trouble.
Brother Green Hair had received his orders from Liu Xuan: protect Lin Qi at all costs.
If anything happened to Lin Qi, he would be held accountable according to the first clause of the Liu Clan’s bodyguard contract.
At that point, Brother Green Hair would probably be bankrupted by the compensation, and he wouldn’t be able to keep a single piece of his Prosthetic Body.
Even what was left of his organic body would have to be handed over to the Liu Clan for experiments, and that might not even be enough to cover the damages.
At this moment, in Brother Green Hair’s eyes, Lin Qi’s safety was more important than his own life.
This was the indoctrination of a mega-corporation’s employees.
A complete brainwashing that encompassed their finances, thoughts, and even their lives.
Basically, barring any unforeseen circumstances, once a normal person entered a mega-corporation, their life belonged to the company.
This was Cyber Society.
Lin Qi sat on the public rail vehicle heading back to his apartment, pondering tonight’s operation.
’Hunt a Tier Three Knight... can I really do it?’
’I hope Guang Ling’s plan is detailed and reliable enough.’
