Dual Worlds: I Have a Doomsday World
Chapter 169 - 153: A Chance Encounter Worth 45 Credit Points
As these thoughts ran through his mind, Dong Wenlong suddenly chuckled.
Lin Qi immediately turned his head. ’What’s Elder Dong thinking? Why is he laughing? Is he fantasizing about getting shares in United Pharmaceutical, about Liu Xuan’s plan succeeding, and about United Pharmaceutical becoming a major new enterprise in the Asian Administrative Region? That old man sure loves to daydream. Not like me—I’m down-to-earth, always facing everything with the utmost sincerity.’
He looked back at Liu Xuan, who happened to be looking right at him. A faint blue light occasionally pulsed from her left eye.
A moment later, they both broke eye contact and looked away.
The meeting soon ended in a strange atmosphere. Despite this, the senior staff’s enthusiasm for their work reached an unprecedented high.
Liu Xuan left the meeting room first, heading for her exclusive chairman’s office.
Only then did everyone else begin to file out.
Lin Qi, Dong Wenlong, and Liu Weicai rode the elevator together to the company’s thirteenth floor.
This was the exclusive floor for the Pharmaceutical Department’s researchers.
The junior researchers had already been assigned to their labs during the meeting and had begun their respective preparations.
Before heading to the labs, Lin Qi and Dong Wenlong were invited by Liu Weicai to his personal office.
"Younger Brother Lin, Old Dong, I’m afraid you two will have to shoulder more of the company’s work from now on."
"The company needs to train new A-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers. After all, among all Potion Levels, A-Class Potions have the highest profit margin. The market for M-Class and L-Class Potions is already nearing saturation." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Liu Weicai’s tone was grave and earnest.
As the head of United Pharmaceutical’s Pharmaceutical Department, he was under a great deal of pressure.
The battle of Greenfield City had resulted in immense losses for Liu’s Heavy Industries, especially its A-Class talent in Pharmacy, which was nearly wiped out.
Dong Wenlong looked melancholy. "Training A-Class talent... don’t tell me this task is going to fall on my shoulders?"
Dong Wenlong glanced sideways at Lin Qi. ’Can’t count on the one with connections,’ he thought. ’Chairwoman Liu Xuan was practically ready to shove thirty percent of the company’s shares into his hands.’
Sensing Dong Wenlong’s passive-aggressive tone, Lin Qi immediately replied, "My current Pharmacy skill hasn’t reached the A-Class standard yet. The heavy lifting will naturally fall on Elder Dong’s shoulders."
"Though it’s likely I’ll grasp the theory behind A-Class Pharmacy in a few days, I still need time to aim for S-Class Researcher. That requires a lot of studying."
Hearing Lin Qi’s words, Dong Wenlong immediately rolled his eyes.
’S-Class? Does he really think S-Class Researchers are a dime a dozen?’
’Liu’s Heavy Industries has never had a single S-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher. There have been a few in Prosthetic Engineering, but their number is minuscule.’
’Theoretically, the value of an S-Class Researcher is much higher than that of a combatant, even an Extraordinary Professional of the same Level.’
Hearing Lin Qi’s declaration, Liu Weicai stepped in to mediate. "Younger Brother Lin, there is something important I need to tell you."
Liu Weicai’s tone was extremely serious. Lin Qi immediately gave him his full attention.
"Actually, our company doesn’t currently have the capability to train S-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers. In the entire Asian Administrative Region, only two enterprises have that ability: one is Si Pharmaceutical, and the other is the Eastern Alliance’s Nanyun Potion."
"The company doesn’t even possess any literature on S-Class Pharmacy. To this day, we are still trying to reverse-engineer S-Class Potions."
’The company can’t train S-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers?’
’Why is that?’
’Is there a fundamental difference in the preparation of S-Class Potions and A-Class Potions?’
Lin Qi fell into deep thought, his exoskeleton-clad arms folded across his chest.
"Based on my current understanding of Pharmacy, the production process for any potion is basically mixing different materials and using physical methods—like centrifugation, dehydration, and so on—to induce the aggregation effect of Spiritual Particles."
"The process for A-Class and L-Class is identical, and the only real difference compared to M-Class is the materials used."
"But what about S-Class Potions? I’ve never seen one, but from what I understand, there’s only one way to raise a Potion’s Level: use higher-grade materials."
"Are there S-Class Materials in the Cyber World? Or rather, are there enough S-Class Materials to make potions?"
Lin Qi quickly reached a conclusion.
No!
Currently, the highest-quality materials Lin Qi knew of were produced by shattering Extraordinary Items.
And based on his observations in the Doomsday World, the materials produced from shattering either Tier One or Tier Two Extraordinary Items were all, in fact, A-Class Materials.
Although he had never seen a Tier Three Extraordinary Item being shattered, Lin Qi had seen a Crystal Stone from a Tier Three Monster.
Lin Qi had a hunch that even if a Tier Three Extraordinary Item was shattered, the resulting Extraordinary Materials wouldn’t be fundamentally different from those of Tier One or Tier Two.
They would most likely still be classified as A-Class Materials.
’So, what exactly are S-Class Materials?’
If he wanted to find out, Lin Qi knew he had to get his hands on a sample of an S-Class Potion.
Based on what Liu Weicai had said, the Liu Clan definitely had samples of S-Class Potions.
Lin Qi responded to Liu Weicai, "I understand. Once I’ve completely mastered the knowledge of A-Class Pharmacy, I’ll focus on our current circumstances and do my best to create a brand-new type of A-Class Potion for the company. It’ll also be a chance to earn some Credit Points, and maybe even become a shareholder."
"As for S-Class, once I’ve truly reached the A-Class level, I’ll look for another approach."
Liu Weicai’s face broke into a relieved smile.
