Dungeon Landlord: Only I Can Merge Dungeons
Chapter 50: First Raid: First Death
The archer’s chest went up and down, a chill crept up all the way to his head.
Impossible. Impossible! He had never missed his marks!
The arrows should hit the wall and create a bullseye mark if it was a dead end!
So how did...a bullseye mark appear when his arrow didn’t even hit anything??
And how did...a dead end without a mark appeared when he obviously...had just marked it?
Sizzle. Sizzle.
The slimes spat out the corrosive saliva around them, the spearman’s spears missed the slimes several times.
"What the hell is going on, hey?? Are we trapped??"
The silent woman’s lips trembled, her voice hoarse.
"Guys, look..."
Throb. Throb.
The light shone closely upon the wall and the subtle throbbing became as clear as the day.
The hunters stiffened. Even the burly guy’s sword almost slipped out of his hand.
"The wall...move?"
A chill shot up everyone’s head, the hair on their napes stood up stiffly.
How could the wall...move?
Lucien’s omniscient view clearly captured each hunter’s dreadful face and a sense of satisfaction bubbled in his heart.
His forehead stung, something squirmed inside, but he continued to lick his itchy fangs.
"Unfortunately..."
It’s too late.
The moment the hunters realized the wall moved, the wall throbbed harder and the rubbing sound instantly echoed throughout the cave.
Grrrkkk.
The wall in front shifted right in front of their eyes and the wall beside them moved forward, slowly squeezing their bodies.
The burly guy’s veins popped up as he pushed the wall, his voice boomed throughout the path.
"Move! Move! Archer! Continue to mark!"
The hunters’ hearts leapt to their throats and they rushed forward with all of their might, their faces devoid of any color.
"Ahhh! Brother!! I’m going to die!!" The young master cried as the cold wall brushed past his arms. He could feel the walls slowly squeezing him.
No! He doesn’t want to die!!
The young master ran faster and the other hunters also left their previous path in a heartbeat.
Right behind the burly guy, just an inch away from his back, the wall slammed shut,
Boom!
The two walls merged into one and soon, the entire walls shifted, a new path opened, but no one dared to enter.
A big fat -5 number glowing in red appeared in front of Lucien’s eyes, but Lucien didn’t bat an eyelid, his eyes fixed onto the hunters’ faces.
Mmmm. Continue. Continue to struggle and use your skills.
Lucien’s forehead squirmed.
A third eye snapped open.
Lurenzo, who was standing next to Lucien, caught a glimpse of the eye and his heart stopped beating for a split second.
Did...did he see it right? Why is there...an eye?
Ah, no, it must be an illusion, hahaha.
Inside the maze, the hunters’ chests throbbed, the new walls beside them started to tremble, like the previous walls.
"Damn it. Archer! Have you found the way out??"
The burly guy shouted from the back and the archer squeezed through everyone, taking the place behind the burly guy.
"It’s a dead end behind! Feya, Mink, come to the front! Assist me!"
Feya and Mink squeezed past the young master and the burly man, standing right behind the archer with Feya at the back of the trio.
"Mink! Protect me! Feya! Light!"
Mink, the spearman, swung his spear and stabbed the slimes approaching the archer.
Feya used a new skill and another light orb appeared.
This time, the second orb flew forward, illuminating the dark paths several meters away, quickly finding dead ends that the archer hadn’t found yet.
"9 o’clock dead end! This one dead end..."
The three people led the entire group to move faster, their figures moving among so many paths, getting closer and closer out of the maze.
Lucien’s three eyes squinted.
A deep, cold voice echoed in his mind.
—That woman...
—What a nuisance.
Lucien’s inner soul squirmed, eyes sparkling.
But isn’t this good? They’re all using skills!
So much energy, the house has been recharged to almost 5%!
The deep voice slowed down, a hint of desire sprouted.
—No...
—Not enough.
Grrkkkk...
"Huh?" The young master saw the side walls in front of him suddenly move.
He subconsciously paused.
"What are you doing?!" The burly guy barked, about to slap the young master when he saw...
The path ahead was already blocked by a wall.
The three hunters were nowhere in sight.
!
The burly guy’s instinct screamed.
Something is wrong.
Is the wall...separating them?
The woman heard a dull thud noise behind and when she turned around— she almost bit her lips.
"Mink! Archy! The path behind is closed!"
And their captain...is right behind.
"What?? Did the wall squeeze the captain??" Mink, the spearman, missed his aim on a slime and the slime’s saliva almost splashed onto his face.
"I-I don’t know, it shouldn’t be. It’s just this section closing... "
"Damn it. We have no choice. Continue ahead! If we find the way out, we can guide the captain!"
Archy motioned and rushed forward but then...
Grrrkkk.
The walls next to Feya shifted.
The path slowly narrowed starting from Feya’s place.
"Ah!" Feya rushed forward, the wall squeezing her shoulders but she nimbly slipped past.
Just right after she slipped past the tightly shut wall, slimes appeared, shooting her with salivas.
Sizzle! Sizzle!
The saliva splashed onto Feya’s body, burning her skin.
"Ahhh!"
Archy and Mink subconsciously turned around.
In their eyes, Feya staggered, her face contorted in pain.
The wall behind her kept chasing her, squeezing her in the middle.
The two people’s faces changed.
"Feya!" Archy immediately used his skill,
"Multiple aims!"
Woonggg.
Four energy arrows appeared in the air, shooting straight at the slimes behind Feya.
"Feya! Quick!" Archy grabbed Feya’s hand, dragging her out, but...
Thud.
Feya’s leg was caught in between the wall.
"A-archy..." Feya’s vision blurred. The pain made her body weak.
The wall quickly "swallowed" her legs, all the way to her waist.
Archy pulled Feya out with all of his might but she just wouldn’t budge.
Archy’s face turned pale as he shouted,
"Ugh! Mink! Blast the wall!"
Mink hurriedly chanted, his spear pointed at the wall next to Feya’s legs.
"Spear blast!"
A powerful energy poured out of the young man, channeled into his spear.
The next second—
Boom!
The spear stabbed at the wall and a crack appeared.
Feya’s legs broke free and Archy immediately dragged her out, his hand on her wrist.
"Good job! Feya! Now— "
Archy’s beamed into a smile, even Mink’s spear was still in the wall, giving a tiny space for Feya to squeeze out.
Feya hurriedly dragged her body out, just half a meter away...
Huh...?
Feya felt a force pulling her back, squeezing her legs and waist.
Archy and Mink’s face contorted.
Their mouths opened and closed, but Feya couldn’t hear a thing.
Creakkk.
A strong pressure squeezed her lower body.
A sharp, brief pain stabbed her before she couldn’t feel a thing down there.
"Arc...hy..."
Feya stretched her right hand out, her left hand pushing the wall.
Her upper body leaned forward.
Creakk...
Time slowed down.
The wall narrowed.
Feya’s body was pulled back.
Her palm on Archy’s hand slipped away.
Grip!
Archy tightened the grip, veins popped up, his skin turned red and white.
"Fe...yaaa..."
The light orb flickered.
Mink’s spear slowly bent, but Mink stabbed it deeper, his face red, sweat dripped down his chin.
"Hold...on...."
Crack.
The spear shattered.
The wall squeezed tighter and tighter.
Flicker.
The light orbs dimmed, darkness took over.
"Arc...hy..."
Feya’s blank face slowly drowned in the darkness.
Her hand holding Archy tightly loosened— and fell limp.
Crack.
The sound of something breaking sounded.
Ah...
A faint scream.
Splatter.
The walls were dyed red.
Shinggg.
The light vanished completely—
Silence fell.
