Dungeon Of Greed
Chapter 35: The Blight
[Evolution: Goblin Lord]
[Species: Goblin]
[Rank: Special]
[Description: Race once extinct is brought back because of you. Become their lord and rule them to greatness. The selection of this evolution will grant the goblin in your command to begin their natural progeny.]
[Authority: Lust]
[Skill: <Lust Resistance>, <Heart snare> and <Euphoria Touch>
[Bonus: +15 Spirit, +5 Unassigned]
This is certainly something... interesting. Wasn’t a goblin supposed to be the most common monster in a world? How did they become extinct? Sigh! Summoning them through the dungeon counts as bringing them back... well, good for me, I guess.
Bringing them back is cool and all, but what is more fascinating is their ability to procreate naturally. I don’t have to spend points in summoning more of them. But but but... if I were to choose this option, there are many things I’d have to keep in mind.
Seeing they are a natural at this task... I don’t have to worry about them finding their partner. What I have to worry about is their conception period... how long until the child grows to be a fighter? And if it were to die in the battle, what sort of emotional effect would it have on the rest of the monster?
And most important of all, can the dungeon even sustain the burden of a full-fledged society in such close quarters? The jungle can provide food, but what about the rest of the resources?
Sigh!! This is too much at the moment... Although Dhruv said so, he continued to ponder it for much longer than he would have been comfortable with.
He didn’t have a choice either; being the master of the dungeon, he had to think about all these problems sooner or later, so a start was a good thing in its own.
’Let’s see what’s its ability can do...’
[Lust Resistance: Born with the authority of Lust, you are resistant to it.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
[Heart snare: You can intensify hidden desires of a being till it overwhelms their ability to reason.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
[Euphoric Touch: Physical contact floods targets with addictive pleasure or comfort.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
’Why did I not get any manipulation skill this time... is it because lust is more of a concept than an element?’
Dhruv was rather impressed by the skill rewarded this time. Especially, heart snare, which, if paired with the covetous tongue, can work wonders.
But that was it, Dhruv didn’t find any particular charm in this evolution. Moving forward, he clicked on the Deceiver.
[Evolution: The Deceiver]
[Species: Daeva]
[Rank: Special]
[Description: Smiling behind a thousand faces, you became a lie, truth can’t catch up to. Loved by fools, feared by the wise, you walk unseen beneath borrowed tricks while the world mistakes your deception for fate.]
[Authority: Illusion]
[Skill: <Illusion Manipulation>, <Illusion Resistance> and <Blur>
[Bonus: +15 Spirit, +5 Unassigned]
The very first thing Dhruv noticed about this evolution was its species. Daeva, from all the media he had consumed, this was the first time he had heard about this.
He tried clicking on it and even asked the system, but nothing came.
’A rather disturbing description but....but elusive if I say so myself. I can get authority in illusion with this evolution. Hmm! I’ve never been good with tricks. Can I use this evolution effectively? Wait a second, if I wasn’t good with illusion, then how come I get this evolution?
’Evading the net woven by fate can be considered as a way to deceive as well... right?’ Dhruv turned, but there was no one to answer his question. He was left alone to figure things out on his own.
The more he read and understood the evolution, the more he understood its potential.
The evolution wasn’t all flashy and glamorous like the rest, but he could feel it. The more he advances in this path, the greater the benefits will be.
[Illusion Manipulation: Having authority in Illusion, you gain the innate ability to give the mana property of illusion, making it easier to weave illusion-related spells.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
[Illusion Resistance: Born with the authority of Illusion, you are resistant to it.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
[Blur: Shrinking the barrier between reality and lies, you can make one believe in things that don’t exist.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
’This blur ability is incredible... There are so many ways one can use this, and this is only at tier 1. If I continue to upgrade it can I trap one in an infinite world of illusion?’ Dhruv wondered, imagining the potential of the skill.
Marking this evolution is the possible way forward; he moved to the next option.
[Name: The Blight]
[Species: Daitya]
[Rank: Special]
[Description: You are a curse upon this world, a disease that shouldn’t exist. Mocking fate right in its face, here you are with the scent of a decaying self.]
’So, is this making fun of me or are complementing me? Was telling me curse not enough that it had to say disease as well.’ Dhruv thought, being sarcastic about this grim description.
But after reading it a few more times, he understood that it was indeed complementing him.
As he figured out the underlying meaning, Dhruv felt connected with the evolution. Even in his past life, he was nothing but a curse, not on fate but those around him.
All of it started before he had taken his first step. His mother had passed away while giving birth to him. While his father became a drunken head, drowned in sorrow.
Neglected, whenever he would feel connected with someone, a tragedy would fall upon them.
He was around 15 years old when his dad was killed by a cop. It was a case of police brutality that Dhruv tried fighting against for a year, but the lack of resources and strength made him eventually back down.
’Sigh!! There is no crying over spilled milk...’ Taking a deep breath, Dhruv looked at the rest of the part.
[Authority: Rot]
[Skill: <Rot Manipulation>, <Rot Resistance> and <Wither>]
[Bonus: +15 Spirit, +5 Unassigned]
[Rot Manipulation: Having authority in rot, you gain the innate ability to give the mana property of rot, making it easier to weave rot-related spells.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
[Rot Resistance: Born with the authority of rot, you are resistant to it.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
[Wither: Your touch alone is enough to bring ruin and decay.
Rank: Tier 1(Upgradeable)]
Reading the skill, Dhruv grasped one thing. Rot wasn’t the curse he was born with, but the blessing he would carve from it.
