Elf Kingdom: Game of the World Tree
Chapter 1532 - 954: Path of Transcendence (Part 3): The Age of the Void
"Crossing towering mountains and mist,"
"Reaching down into deep cellars and ancient caves,"
"We must set off before dawn,"
"To seek treasures and legendary lands."
"Riding starships, shuttling through Planes,"
"Our footprints stretch across ten million miles."
"Noble and beautiful Elf Chosen Ones,"
"With indomitable will and courage..."
The vicissitude-filled yet stirring ballad echoed slowly through the cabin along with the moving accompaniment of a hand harp; it was the latest version of the Magic Phonograph playing music.
However, Tony preferred another name for this Magic device—Magic Audio.
The tune had quite the flavor, the melody was wonderfully pleasant.
Listening to it, one could not help but imagine themselves as a noble Elf Chosen One, roaming and adventuring in the boundless void and countless Planes.
Of course, Tony had long since become a fairly famous Elf Chosen One.
He just really liked the melody of this piece; it made him recall the days when he’d just fallen into the pit as a total newbie, adventuring in the Dawn World.
However, that was already something that had happened twenty-eight years ago in the game.
Even in the real world of Blue Star, a full seven years had gone by...
Seven years is enough to change a lot of things.
Not to mention that in the game, this time had been doubled.
The Dawn World of the past had long since been fused by the World Tree and become one of the main Planes where players were active.
And looking out over the entire boundless void, the number of Planes that had successfully merged into the World Tree Leaf had already exceeded ten thousand seven years ago.
In these years, Tony hadn’t even bothered to keep track of how many Planes the whole game had fused or how far the map had been opened up.
Because he’d grown numb.
At the beginning, he’d still be shocked by the vast map of Elf Kingdom.
But now, he’d gotten used to it.
This game... is practically Heaven for travel enthusiasts.
Even if you spent all your time in-game traveling, you probably still couldn’t finish going through the entire map.
Don’t even mention traveling; just checking in at all the locations, who knows how long that would take.
Tony seriously suspected that Elf Kingdom had its own program and that all the new maps were procedurally generated.
Anyway... there’s no way normal human manpower could possibly finish such a massive workload.
"Captain, sir, the starship is fully charged. When are we heading out?"
The heavy voice came, interrupting Tony’s thoughts.
He turned around and saw his starship’s crew member respectfully waiting for his answer.
This was a Strong Beastman, a follower Tony had subdued in an Orc Plane ten years ago in the game, a devout Life believer.
Over the past ten years, he’d followed Tony to wage war on no fewer than seven Planes and had witnessed the ascension of seven Plane Worlds.
That’s right, ascension.
It’s said this term was invented by Tianchao players, specifically referring to the fusion of a Plane World with the World Tree.
Tony felt it was quite fitting.
"Got it. Notify all crew members and the Chosen Ones on board that we’re about to set off. Whoever needs to say their goodbyes, hurry up and do it. It’s not like this is a final farewell anyway. Once the Plane Channel to Segis World is opened, we can come back anytime."
Tony said.
With that, he glanced out through the round cabin window forged from Magic Crystal.
Outside the starship, amid the ruins of the city, the place was packed with people seeing them off.
The way they looked at the starship was filled with strong reluctance and respect.
Tony, however, was already used to it. This was the nineteenth Plane he’d campaigned on. As a void player, his very mission was to roam the sea of stars and shuttle between Planes.
What? You ask, if that’s the case, why is he hiding alone in the captain’s cabin?
Sigh...
After all, he’d stayed here for a full year and more.
People aren’t plants; how could they be without feelings?
The order to depart was quickly issued.
Although they were reluctant to leave, the players on this Plane still boarded the starship.
As the Plane’s residents bid them farewell, Magic radiance blossomed on the starship, and the mysterious Runes and engravings slowly lit up.
Amid exclamations, the starship slowly lifted off and flew toward the sky...
There was no helping it; the Plane Channel to Segis World had not yet been built. For now, if you wanted to enter or leave this place, you still had to go through the firmament.
And after the starship took off, Tony also left the captain’s room.
It was just liftoff and ascent; his crew already had plenty of experience and didn’t need him to personally command.
The entire starship wasn’t actually that big. Aside from the non-player crew, the player capacity was only about a hundred.
One-third of them were teammates Tony had gathered over the years. Since they were all from the Mengmeng Committee, Tianchao players made up nearly half.
However, thanks to the game system’s magical translation function, communication wasn’t really a problem. A lot of the time, it was easy to just ignore everyone’s different nationalities.
The remaining two-thirds were players who were just hitching a ride on the starship, similar to passengers; they’d paid for their tickets.
On a Plane like today’s without a Plane Channel, players could only get in and out via starships, aerial fortresses, or Floating Cities. Ordinary players could only buy tickets.
There was even a special group out in the void, players who owned starships or other flying vessels and made money specifically by transporting other players.
In the main cabin, most people were resting; quite a few players had likely already logged off and were sprawled everywhere fast asleep.
What can you do? They call it a starship, but in reality it’s just a slightly larger refitted airship. Its predecessor was actually the Zeppelin airship the players had whipped up, only with the gasbag removed, the hull reinforced, and a small Magic Energy Core installed.
