Chapter 103: Aselia is sick

But he didn’t step inside for she had forbidden him. He just stood there looking at her. She was laying on the bed, her eyes closed. Dr. Wanstine was inspecting her so he waited.

He gestured with his eyes to Frila and she stepped inside to access the situation and spoke to Dr. Wanstine. She gave her a few instructions and medicine for Aselia.

Xiran’s whole focus was on Aselia. She was coughing from time to time but her eyes were still closed, her cheeks red due to a high fever she must be running. He wanted to go inside and take her in his arms.

Dr. Wanstine stepped outside the room and addressed him: "She has a high fever but I think it’s seasonal, she is most probably ill due to changing weather. I gave her medicine for fever, just make sure she has a lot of rest, and she will be alright in a few days. Nothing very serious, so don’t worry."

"Thank you, I will." He nodded at the doctor before she left. Aselia was constantly coughing and he couldn’t just stand there. So he decided to go to her and face the consequences later.

Frila was trying to cool down her forehead with a cold towel. "I will do it." He asked for the towel from Frila who handed it over and got up.

"Arrange some soup for her." He instructed her before dipping the towel in the bowl containing cold water. Frila nodded and left the room.

He squeezed the towel to remove the extra water and placed it on her forehead. She grimaced when the cold towel touched her burning forehead but didn’t open her eyes. He touched her face and it was burning up too. She was always cold but not today, today her body was on fire and his hands felt cold against her cheeks. He felt a tinge in his heart, it was hard for him to see her in pain.

The grimace on her face disappeared with his touch. He kept trying to cool her body, putting the towel on her forehead and neck so her temperature would lower. Then she began to cough, badly, as if something had been stuck in her throat. He quickly sat her up and she opened her eyes, they were bloodshot and she got down from the bed and rushed to the bathroom.

He tried to follow her but she closed the door, and he could hear her retching and wheezing, standing outside he felt useless. Worry crept up his handsome face and he began to pace outside the bathroom. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

She finally opened the door and stepped outside, he knew she had thrown up the medicine Dr. Wanstine had given her. Without thinking he picked her up and carried her to the bed, her whole body was on fire. He laid her down and then fetched the dustbin from the corner of the room and placed it beside her bed.

"Use this, you don’t have to rush over to the bathroom." He told her calmly and she just closed her eyes again, not saying anything to him.

"Frila is bringing you soup, eat that so I can give you medicine again. We need to lower your fever first." He began to use the cold towel again.

"Nooo," she tried to grab the towel from him so she could just throw it away. He held onto it tightly. Not letting her do that. She jerked her head so he wouldn’t be able to place the towel on her head.

"Aselia, let me do this please." He pleaded with her.

"F*ck this and f*ck you. Go sleep with that wh*re. Leave me be." He was stunned at her words, she was still so upset. No way he was going to leave her like that. Her eyes were so red and he wondered if she had been sleeping at all.

He climbed on the bed and shifted her in his lap, she didn’t protest just glared at him as if ready to eat him alive at his action.

"Sorry, I was at fault. Please don’t take it out on yourself. Tell me how to make it right. I will do anything to make this right. I sincerely apologize and I promise you will never see her or any woman with me again." His voice held sincerity, no other woman interested him anymore, his heart ached and desired only her. That was a truth she was unable to comprehend for now.

Aselia’s head hurt so much right now and her whole body was aching but being in his arms had a soothing effect, she couldn’t deny it. No matter how hard she tried to stay angry at him, her heart didn’t want to let go of him.

Before she could answer him, her stomach rumbled up again and she shifted her head at the end of the bed to throw up in the dustbin. Xiran took hold of her hair and held them lightly behind her, so it won’t get in the way.

She cleaned her face with tissue paper and lay down again, she had zero energy to fight with him, so she just closed her eyes and let him cool her down with the towel.

Frila brought the soup but Aselia refused to eat it. She knew she would throw up again. Xiran called Dr. Wanstine again who gave her an injection to stop the vomiting, so she could eat and take her medicine or they would have to shift her to drips. She was getting dehydrated.

Xiran wanted to shift her to the Infirmary but Aselia refused to go there. It held painful memories for her, she wanted to stay in her room.

After struggling for a few hours she was finally able to chug a few spoons of the soup down and took her medicine. Medicine took effect and she finally drifted off to sleep. Xiran sat by her, watching and making sure she was comfortable enough.

Then she mumbled in her sleep: "Xiran...don’t leave me."
