Elven Encounter With A Blood Seeker
Chapter 243: Why Won’t He Talk To Me?
Aldridge called Aselia into his office and briefed her about the situation in Fritez City and the attack. A bunch of hunters and agents had been dispatched to assist Xiran and his forces. Yurian and Agent 93 had volunteered to accompany the hunters that were sent off.
Aselia was shocked beyond words and a gnawing restlessness settled in the bottom of her stomach, refusing to leave.
"How is the situation? What did he say? Is he safe?" she asked Aldridge a million questions with a restless heart.
"I only know what I have told you, White Falcon, the situation was pretty dire at that time. I don’t have a clear picture for now but last I spoke to him, his father had left."
"I want to be there with him, fighting along his side, protecting his city. Not cooped up here under the name of protection," Aselia felt annoyed to be left behind but she knew he would never let her come there.
"His father knows about you now. If you were there at that time, we don’t know what might have happened. I promised Xiran I will protect you at every cost. So stay put," Aldridge instructed her.
"If I was there I would have fought him head-on, come what may then," she replied fiercely, bumping her fist on the table. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"We need a proper plan to fight him. He is not someone ordinary we can take head-on. How do you think he is so indestructible until now? Don’t be ridiculous," Aldridge chided her before dismissing her so she could take some time to think.
Aselia made her way to the training room. Frustration and rage were building up inside her. She called Xiran multiple times but he didn’t pick up, this worried her. What if his father had injured or tortured him again? How extensive the damage to his city must have been? So many questions whirled in her brain.
Entering the training room, she took the boxing gloves from the weapons closet and after adorning them proceeded toward the hanging punching bag. Punch after punch was thrown at it to reduce the frustration she was experiencing.
Sweat trailed down her temples and back, clinging her top to her body. The door opened and closed and yet she paid no heed to it. Her entire focus was on the punching bag and her mind was on Xiran.
"Would you like to spar, White Falcon? It will take your mind off the situation," Silver Wolf’s calm voice sounded from behind her and she whirled around to find him leaning against the wall, watching her.
"You must be revelling hearing what happened?" she shot him a disdainful look.
"You think very lowly of me. I would never revel in the loss of innocent lives. That’s what we stand for, that’s what our motto is. To protect the innocent," he carefully approached her and continued:
"I understand your frustration, I have lost almost everyone I cared about. First my family, then Marhia. You, people, are all I left and I do care about you. Why do you think I was so disappointed?"
Aselia knew his words were sincere to some extent so she didn’t counter him any further but took off her gloves. She readied herself to spar with him.
"Ok, bring your A-game, I am in no mood to show mercy," Aselia straightened up and took her stand.
"You won’t get any here, I always maintain an A+ game. Let’s begin," and he launched his first punch at Aselia and their session began.
They sparred until both of them were tired and sweaty. They could no longer continue and fell on the floor of the room. Both stared at the ceiling and panted hard.
"Thanks, I needed that," Aselia mumbled trying to catch her breath, her hand resting on her chest.
"I know, that’s why I offered, I have to go get prepared now, have a mission in the morning. Keep your mind occupied and not worry too much," Silver Wolf jumped to his feet and giving one final nod to Aselia, left the room.
Aselia lay there for a while before finally getting up and approaching the table to retrieve her phone. She checked for any messages or phone calls from him but there were none. This worried her more because it was highly unlike him to not reach back to her.
Aselia then called Rivan but his number was switched off too. Her forehead furrowed at that so she called Frila, but her number was not accessible either. This made her develop a splitting headache from the uncertainty she experienced. She then called Yurian who instantly picked up.
"Yuri! How long before you reach there?" she immediately asked.
"Two hours max. Don’t worry I will call you with all the details. Xiran will be alright, he is strong," Yurian tried to console her, knowing how worried she was.
"I know but he hasn’t sent me single text since he left. That’s not like him, he could have sent me at least a single one," there were apprehensions in her voice.
"I understand. As soon as I meet him I will ask him to call you, so quit worrying now."
"Ok, I will try. Take care of yourself and him too," she instructed before ending the call and heading to her room.
On the way, she picked up Rony from Panda. Both of them seemed to have become quite attached and Panda had been teaching him small tricks.
"Had he been a good boy?" Aselia inquired from Panda as Rony came hopping towards her.
"Yes! He is the best dog in the world. Thank you for letting me spend time with him," Panda handed his basket to Aselia with a smile.
"Thanks for looking after him, you have been a great help," Aselia offered her gratitude before taking Rony to her room.
Rony clung to her as she entered the room. She placed him in his basket and went on to take a shower and change into comfortable clothes. She wore Xiran’s winged nightshirt and settled in bed after drinking some water.
In the middle of the night, she received a text from Yurian which shock her to her core.
