Chapter 300: Getting a Tattoo

Tattoos had always fascinated Aselia but she had never gotten around to getting one. She hadn’t been sure what to get as a tattoo but an idea has been crossing her mind for a few days now.

"Come," Jaguar had gotten down and offered his hand to her. She took off her helmet and placed her hand in his before jumping down from the bike.

"Let’s get this done with," she announced as they headed inside the tattoo shop.

"For sure. I want to get another one," Jaguar pointed to his chest.

"What will you be getting this time?" Aselia asked as he opened the door and led her in.

"A ’J’ shaped like a jaguar’s head," he extracted his phone and taking out a picture from his gallery showed it to Aselia.

"That looks captivating, it will suit you."

Meanwhile, the tattoo artist walked over and welcomed them. She was a girl with purple hair and tattoos covering every inch of her visible skin.

"Hi! I am Asara. Welcome to my tattoo shop. How may I help you?" she asked with a warm smile.

"Hello! We would like to get tattoos. My friend here will go first," Jaguar pointed to Aselia.

"Sure, this way ma’am," the girl led Aselia inside another room.

The first thing Aselia observed about the room was its bright lights, it was so well-lit that Aselia’s eyes took a bit of time to adjust. A neatly made tattoo bed lay on one side of the room with adjustable chairs and her workstation, which had her tattoo gun, medical supplies, disinfectants, tracing papers, a single file of albums with tattoo designs and other essentials.

Looking around Aselia observed the walls were elegantly covered with hundreds of pictures of tattoo designs. They ranged from intricate butterflies to complex patterns. The elven hunter was in awe.

"Please, have a seat," Asara led her to the adjustable chair and Aselia settled down. Jaguar sat down in the opposite chair.

"Would you like to choose a design from one of my albums or do you have something in mind?" Asara asked while reaching out for one of her albums.

"Actually I would like to draw the design myself. Is that possible?" Aselia wanted to recreate what her dreams had been screaming at her for months now.

"Not a problem," she gave Aselia a white paper and pen. "Draw on this and I will trace it on the tracing paper and then wherever you want your tattoo to be," Asara instructed and Aselia nodded at her and got to work. Jaguar intently watched her, he wanted to know what Aselia would choose as her tattoo design.

Aselia diligently drew, remembering every tiny detail, the shape, the formation and the design. In about 20 minutes Aselia was done and she showed it to Asara who seemed impressed and asked:

"You draw so well, are you an artist?"

"I like to paint in my free time," Aselia answered handing over the design to Asara. Jaguar was astonished to learn this detail about her. He had no clue.

Asara began to trace it on the purple tracing paper while asking:

"Where would you like to have the tattoo?"

"At the base of the left side of my neck and I want the colour to be white," Aselia pointed to the spot and Asara nodded her head.

Once she was done tracing, she adjusted Aselia’s chair and confirmed the spot. Disinfecting the area with rubbing alcohol, Asara then placed the paper on the spot and using light-coloured ink, traced the design on Aselia’s neck.

"Do you have any other tattoos?" Asara inquired.

"No, this is my first time getting one," Aselia tilted her head and closed her eyes. Jaguar who was closely watching her spoke:

"It will sting and pain."

"I know, I don’t mind the pain," Aselia calmly replied, there was no fear or urgency on her face and he couldn’t help but cherish her.

"Let’s get started then. If the pain becomes unbearable or there is an allergic reaction. I will stop," Asara reminded Aselia who simply nodded and stilled so Asara could do her magic with her tattoo gun.

Using a lighter shade of ink Asara began to draw the pattern on Aselia’s neck. It stung and pained because the neck was a sensitive spot but Aselia sat very calmly, letting her do the work.

The design was small about 3 inches long and 4 inches wide but as Asara was using a lighter shade of ink, she had to go through the process several times. Each time she showed the progress to Aselia and Jaguar.

"I think it’s looking great, just needs to be a tiny bit more prominent," Aselia told her and she nodded and got down to work. It took her an hour or so to complete it and show the final result to Aselia.

Although her skin under the design had turned blotchy and red, Asara ensured it will go back to normal soon.

Aselia smiled seeing the design and was impressed by Asara’s handiwork. She had captured all the tiny details and turned them into perfection.

"Wow, this looks lovely. Thank you," Aselia couldn’t help but trace her fingers on it. For some reason, she loved it more than she thought she would. It made her feel warm, it made her feel whole and connected to something she couldn’t remember just like those dreams.

"It’s beautiful," Jaguar added coming closer to her, his eyes fixed on the tattoo and her slender neck.

"I am glad you people found it satisfactory," Asara smiled at them.

Aselia’s fingers still lingered on the design when Jaguar asked: "Why this particular design though? Does it hold some meaning for you?"

His question threw her into a deep thought and she wondered what meaning it held. She refused to believe it was just some conjured image of her twisted mind.

"I guess I just love white wings, they remind me of an angel. An angel I wish to meet someday..." she left the sentence incomplete and stared at herself in the mirror, her eyes not leaving the tattoo of two white wings on her neck.
