Elven Encounter With A Blood Seeker
Chapter 307: Lad & Lassie
Location: Hamidus City (Druhias)
It had been a month since Silver had arrived in Hamidus City and started facilitating the forces with the Rogue problem. He had saved countless lives and kept the city safe on numerous occasions.
Night or day, it didn’t matter to him for he spent most of his time patrolling the city. Hence, the attacks had lessened by 50 per cent.
Mayor Kirlian had decided to throw a party in his honour and invite a few friends, socialities and families of people he had saved, around.
People would be able to show their appreciation to him and they could have a relaxed evening after months of tension-filled ones. He called Silver to inform him about the party.
"Hello! Mr Silver, I am throwing a party tomorrow night in your honour. Wanted to invite you over, it will be our pleasure if you could join us," his excitement was apparent in his words.
"Thank you, Kili, but I am not a party person. I prefer to do my job when on a mission and not get distracted," Silver was in no mood for the parties.
"Please, the whole city is indebted to you. Socialities and elites are very much looking forward to meeting you. Just for a few hours and then you will be free to leave," Mayor Kirlian pleaded and Silver sighed before agreeing:
"Very well then, I will see you tomorrow night. Let me know the location."
"Rubisha will bring you. I have asked her and will also provide you with clothing for tomorrow, see you then," in reality, it was Rubisha’s idea to throw a party for him and she had asked to escort him.
’Rubisha? Why do I have to go with her? And I can buy clothes for myself,’ Silver thought to himself as the call ended. Her gaze always unsettled him and she gaped funny as if he was a blood bag.
A few hours later there was a knock on his door. Raking his hair with his fingers, he went and opened the door to find Rubisha standing there, casually dressed in a sky-blue halter dress with a matching pair of sandals and a handbag.
"Hey! Kili asked me to assist you in finding clothes for the party tomorrow. Let’s go," her eyes scanned him from head to toe like a predator will do to prey before deciding which part to devour first.
"I think I can handle finding clothes for myself. I don’t want to bother you," Silver held the door with one hand and shoved the other in his pocket. She was staring at him again.
"It’s no bother and no one knows the city better than me. Come now, I don’t want Kili to think I didn’t take care of his guest," he scoffed at her words and made no effort to move, he seemed bored.
Without further ado, she stepped forward and grabbed his hand before dragging him out of the condo. It surprised Silver, women were not that bold with him. Except for Marhia. He usually scowled at them which was a huge turn-off and would send them running.
"What are you doing?" he snatched his hand away from her grasp and stopped. Making her turn and giving him a displeased look before snapping:
"Taking you along, because you can’t accept someone’s help."
"That’s because I don’t need it. I am more than capable to manage on my own," he stood there with his legs partly spread and his hands crossed against his chest.
"Are all of you hunters this level of obnoxious and uptight? Or are you a special case?" she fumed at him.
"Some of us are but I am a rare case," he made no effort to budge. He found it amusing to vex her.
"I can see that. Look, this party is being held in your honour and Kili has given me the responsibility of catering to all your needs. So let me help you find a perfect suit," Rubisha was standing with one of her hands clasping her waist. He was like a man-child she had taken the responsibility to handle. No movement was detected from him so she tried another strategy.
"If you come with me, I will cook dinner for you. You won’t have to cook it on your own," one thing she had observed in the last month or so she had gotten to know him was that he wasn’t big on cooking and food was one thing he always accepted from her without hesitation.
A hint of smile descended on his chiselled face and he spoke:
"Fine, I want chicken."
"Done, let’s go, little lad," she ushered him forward and he grunted at her words.
"I am not a lad and surely not little from any angle," his forehead was creased. Her words had annoyed him.
"Then stop acting like one," she followed him as both of them reached the elevator and entered it.
Once inside he leaned on the elevator wall while Rubisha faced him by standing opposite him. His presence intimidated her whenever she was this close to him while he found her constant gaze a bit unnerving. He slightly turned his head to sharply gaze at her.
"Miss Rubisha do you stare like this at every male companion or there is something special about me that you find amusing?"
His sudden words embarrassed her and she lowered her eyes to not ogle at him anymore. A single strand of her hair got loose from the bun she had on and fell in front of her face.
Seeing that he leaned closer, too close to her personal space. She tried to take a step back but was trapped by the wall. Silver slowly picked up the stray lock and shifted it behind her ear before whispering in her ear:
"Learn to tie your hair properly, Lassie," his voice was low and his breath was hot against her ear. The elevator had stopped, so without sparing her another glance, he stepped outside. Leaving her gasping for breath as her face began to burn from anger and desires his words stemmed inside her.
After gaining her composure she silently followed him to the car. This man was becoming too much for her to handle.
