Endless Debt
Chapter 1131: Finale: Astronaut
Xilin looked around, surrounded by absolute darkness, as if it had swallowed all light. Looking ahead, his vision was filled with a vast white desert, with no green trees or flowers, no ponds or rivers, and not the slightest trace of any animals.
With his feet on the cold sand and soil, the power of Ether gently surged, allowing Xilin to easily structure its material composition, which was nothing but gray dust and rocks.
The earth was covered with countless pockmarked craters, as if formed by some giant impact, varying in size, depth, some extremely deep, creating steep cliffs dozens of meters high on the ground.
Apart from the craters, the exposed rock protrusions had geological textures resembling tears and compact structures, which became clear under the light, as if formed by volcanic activity or the solidification process of basaltic lava.
This wasn’t Xilin’s first time in this eerie place. Every time he came here, he would have a strong sense of unfamiliarity and confusion, as if this land shouldn’t exist in the real world.
Xilin knew it indeed existed in the real world, just not on the land he was familiar with.
Raising his head, through the floating, mountain-like giant stones, Xilin saw that blue planet in the gaps.
Summoned by the Devil, Xilin arrived between Nothingness, reaching the Moon, which hung high in the sky.
Looking into the distance, one could still see hills covered in dust, as if completely draped in a thick gray-green canopy. This vast dust resembled a dense fog or a black "tumor" omnipresent on the Moon’s surface.
After walking some distance, Xilin saw the only figure on this gray-white earth, a figure clad in a heavy diving suit.
He resembled a diligent farmer, cultivating in a desolate world, known to no one.
"Hey, Xilin."
Leviathan paused his work, stood up, and scrutinized Xilin at this moment. Laughter emanated from beneath the heavy hood, "It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you like this. Really brings back memories."
Xilin didn’t like Leviathan, even detested him, but he knew he needed Leviathan.
This Devil always appeared composed, as if everything was under his arrangement, just like this time with his resurrection.
Xilin had already despaired, yet miracles happened anyway.
"Why did you summon me?" Xilin asked.
"Oh, nothing much. I just wanted to chat about future development," Leviathan adopted a tone just like a company leader, "After all, you now have your body back. Whatever you wish to do, no one should be able to stop you."
As Leviathan spoke, he dragged the "cargo" by his feet. At this point, Xilin also noticed this cargo; his gaze froze for a moment, and he couldn’t help asking.
"What is this?"
"Hmm... Let me think," Leviathan pondered how to explain to Xilin, "Just like the way humans maintain life metabolism." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"You’ve consumed some things and absorbed their essence, you must also eliminate the waste."
Leviathan dragged the cargo to the edge of the Ring Mountain, where shadows shrouded below, vaguely revealing numerous bodies piled at the pit’s bottom.
"You could think of it as metabolic waste after a resurrection."
Leviathan looked down at the cargo, which was a person, an adult male, with a face identical to Bologue’s, in fact, it was Bologue himself.
Only this body was already dead.
With force, Leviathan kicked the corpse, watching it tumble down the slope of the Ring Mountain, kicking up a cloud of Moon Dust, and piling into the mountain of corpses.
"What exactly is he?" Xilin couldn’t help asking, "Bologue Lazarus, what is his meaning?"
"He is just like you, merely a tool, a tool to achieve an end."
Leviathan motioned for Xilin to follow him, "Forget it, let’s not talk about him now, better to talk about yourself."
He then asked, "About yourself, Xilin, don’t you have anything to ask me?"
Xilin fell silent, and after a long while, an open-air cinema appeared at the horizon. At this moment, Xilin spoke up.
"How did you do it?"
"Which part?"
"All of it, how did you retrieve my body?"
This was what baffled Xilin. Nesanel could have just kept his body hidden deep within the Cultivation Room, yet he took such a risk to bring it onto the battlefield, claiming it was to prepare for a trade with the King’s Secret Sword, but with such an obvious flaw in his words, how could Xilin possibly believe it?
"I still have some influence within the Order Bureau, commissioning them for some help is not an issue."
"And what about Gray?"
Xilin asked the question that confused him the most, why did Gray appear at the moment of his near-death?
Gray’s motives and understanding were without a single flaw or imperfection, yet Xilin thought, the more perfect it was, this extreme perfection, wasn’t it the greatest flaw?
The more he thought about it, the more Xilin felt a sense of dread, as if Leviathan was truly omnipotent, and as long as he decided something, the whole world would assist in achieving it.
"Oh? This part involves no conspiracy or trickery, I just understand Mammon’s nature and Gray’s will very well."
Leviathan said nonchalantly, "Once you understand someone well enough, many of their actions become quite predictable."
