[20 biomass has been spent on Venom Gland]

[40 biomass has been spent on Venom Gland]

-New Evolution Unlocked-

Absolute Neurotoxic Venom Gland: A special gland that produces an evolved form of the host’s current venom that not only targets the nervous system but also the mana pathways.

Benefits: This venom targets the nervous system and also the channels in which mana flows through the body, affecting the infected individual’s ability to use magic.

This evolution could prove extremely useful in the future. If it doesn’t outright kill a prey, then it will affect their ability to use mana.

Since my forcipules will be the ones injecting the venom, I needed to make sure they were at least strong enough to pierce the worm’s skin.

After floating in the sky for a few minutes, I finally found my first prey. It was a worm bashing its head against the wall I created to protect Kali and the others.

With my eyes locked on my prey, I dropped from the sky like a missile, silently and swiftly.

The worm paused for a second and raised its head as if sensing something. At the same time, the mana inside its body began moving strangely.

Mana poured out of its body and into the soil, wrapping around every individual grain.

Earth magic...

Yes, but there was something else to it as the grains around the beast began to swirl.

Wind magic too!

SWOOSH!

A powerful wind slash ripped through the air towards me, and inside the attack were grains of sand.

I twisted my body mid-air and moved out of the path of the attack, but before I could fully register what happened, another attack flew my way.

The attacks were powerful, as just the current from them made it difficult to fly.

I had to create a sonic burst to propel myself out of the path of the attack, then several more sonic bursts to dodge the other incoming attacks and close the distance between me and the worm.

As I flew through the air, a sound reminiscent of a swish blade being drawn rang out.

The worm panicked as it saw a monster that shouldn’t be flying heading towards it.

The mana inside the worm surged as it prepared a more powerful attack that caused the air and sand to swirl around us like a twister, but before the monster could complete the attack, it was suddenly struck by a blinding light.

The light activated every cell inside the worm’s body. The worm’s natural instincts took over as it tried to burrow underground, but before it could, something sharp pierced into its back.

The worm turned around, and if it could see, it would see a giant centipede with a dark, oil-like exoskeleton digging its forcipule into its flesh.

The wound itself was shallow and wouldn’t cause much harm, but it was just deep enough to give access to the monster’s bloodstream.

The toxic venom wasted no time and spread through the monster’s body, attacking its nervous system and the channels that flowed mana through its body.

In retaliation, the monster snapped at me. Inside its mouth were lined several rows of sharp teeth forming a spiral.

I flew back just in time, and as the monster came closer, I hit it with another fire bolt, followed by a spray of acid on its pointed head.

With the skin on its head burnt by acid, the monster couldn’t burrow underground unless it wanted to endure excruciating pain, but even then, it was ready too late.

I watched with mana sight as the venom stopped the flow of mana through the monster’s body.

This made its skin much easier to penetrate. Taking advantage of this, I planted my stinger into the monster’s body and sliced it open, causing thick red blood to dye the soil beneath our feet an even darker shade of red.

Though injured, the worm tried to fight back and swung its body at me, but its attack was so weak and slow that I was easily able to dodge.

The monster continued to fight and thrash until its movements finally slowed, and its heart stopped as a result of my venom.

[You have slain a D-ranked Vampyric Worm!]

[You have gained 150 biomass]

Just as I finished devouring the worm, three more worms leaped out of the sky towards me in an ambush attack.

The worms wielded their magic simultaneously and launched a powerful wind blast out of their mouths towards me. Acting immediately, I created a rock wall to protect myself, but it was immediately blasted to bits, some of the rubble from it impacting

A cloud of dust formed, blocking visibility, but it was during the chaos that I launched my real attack.

[Fire Bolt!]

[Fire Bolt!]

[Fire Bolt!]

After blasting them with Fire Bolt, I continuously sprayed acid over the worms until a satisfying notification popped up.

After I killed them, I quickly devoured what was left as there were more worms making their way toward me.

[You have gained 450 biomass]

[2 biomass has been spent to Tympana (Tiny, stretchy membrane similar to eardrums on your legs. Same membrane used by crickets)]

This time I decided to purchase an organ that allowed me to hear properly.

I had terrible hearing; hence, I mostly relied on sensing vibrations, and since I communicated telepathically, I didn’t really need to ear.

Yet, still, this organ will be necessary in the future.

Just then, three more worms erupted from the soil around me. Using the same strategy, I killed them and devoured their remains, gaining a total of 450 biomass.

[40 biomass has been spent to molt]

Immediately, my body swelled in size, causing my exoskeleton to crack under the pressure.

I then wriggled out of the broken exoskeleton, and instantly, a new one formed to protect my fragile body.

Previously, I was four feet long, but since I used biomass to molt instead of the skill, I doubled in size, making me a staggering 8 feet long.

-New Skill Acquired-

[Resize: By spending 5 biomass, the user can increase and decrease their size at will by 12 inches]

Another useful skill was gained as a result of this evolution.

Just then, as I contemplated the possible uses for this new skill, the ground began to vibrate violently.

It was so powerful that it felt as if the ground itself was going to split open, and in the next second, even more worms began to pop out of the ground.

Soon, they numbered over a hundred!
