Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World
Chapter 142: Temporal Reset! Awakening Ender’s Will
The red light soon cleared, and multiple notifications flooded Caelus’s vision.
Ding!
[You got nothing!]
[You obtained +10 Reputation Points.]
[You obtained +10 Reputation Points.]
[You obtained +100 Reputation Points.]...
[You have obtained the Trait: Temporal Reset (Mythical, 2-Star).]
"Finally," Caelus smiled with a huge smile. It did not come in the form of a talent, but that was perfectly fine. He would gladly take it as a trait.
His reputation points also saw a increase, which was a good thing. He could use this for Faction purposes now. Adding more benefits and improving quality of life.
[Reputation Points: 410 -> 530]
He also had exactly 30 Reputation Tokens sitting in his inventory. He duplicated them using his talent and consumed the entire batch, boosting his total even higher.
[Reputation Points: 530 -> 635]
Sylvia’s reputation also rose by leaps and bounds, reaching a massive 710. She had farmed plenty of points from the daily dungeon simulator.
Once the gacha pulls were finished, Caelus turned to Sylvia.
"Do you want to enter the Origin Domain tonight?"
As things stood right now, they were vastly overpowered for their current progression and had already unified their Region Domain. They had plenty of time to spare. Caelus actually wanted to take this opportunity to unlock more advanced Aura skills in the real world.
Skills like Battlewill.
He had been rapidly forming theories and ideas related to his Aura, but he never had the proper downtime to realize them until now.
"Sure. Let’s do that," Sylvia replied happily.
The night on the Azure Origin Planet was a completely different experience compared to the day. While it was generally peaceful and quiet in the residential districts, the majority of active Players would go out into the dark wilderness to hunt down monsters. There would also be massive underground auctions, intense gambling, and high stakes street races between players.
It was a vibrant, chaotic underworld that one had to experience at least once in their life. But for tonight, Caelus and Sylvia headed straight down to the mansion’s reinforced training room.
Caelus stood motionless in the center of the room, steadily circulating his Aura. He keenly sensed a strange connection forming within his mind. He had felt it briefly before, an overwhelming overload of information drilling into his brain from all four spatial directions.
Now that his Mind Power was officially awakened, the sensation was much clearer.
"If I am not wrong, it is a perception skill," Caelus nodded to himself.
His vision violently blurred as static erupted in his eyes. His Aura seeped out and aggressively merged with his Telekinesis. Caelus suddenly clutched his head as a dizzying, painful torrent of environmental data drilled directly into his brain.
"What happened, Caelus?" Sylvia instantly appeared beside him, her red eyes filled with worry.
"Nothing. I was trying to layer my Aura over my mind to expand my senses. It overloaded my brain with too much information," Caelus said, clicking his tongue in annoyance.
He did not fully understand the exact equilibrium yet. He had to experiment more.
He pushed his Telekinesis out once more, heavily influenced by his mind perception. But this time, he strictly limited his area of effect to a mere one meter radius.
Fully focused, his Mind Power and Aura flared and fused together seamlessly. The information in the air was completely abstract, but his burning Aura acted like a filter, actively converting the raw spatial data into crisp visual and audible signals.
BZZT!
His mind buzzed as the information swarmed in. This time, his brain was not overloaded. For a solid second, Caelus stood there, perfectly processing every microscopic detail of the space immediately around him.
Just as quickly, a notification chimed in his mind.
Ding!
[You have obtained the Skill: Aura Perception.]
BOOM!
As soon as he acquired the system’s recognition for the skill, his control achieved perfection. A crisp click echoed from within his mind. Caelus effortlessly stretched the perception field out to a full 15 meter range. That was his current natural limit at the Bronze tier. He could, of course, spend Mind Power to stretch it further.
[Aura Perception]
[Details: The ultimate insight into the essence of all things. By bypassing the physical eyes and ears, the user perceives the raw existence of the world. This allows for total visualization and audialization of the environment in darkness, the detection of precise temperature variations through aura density, and the identification of hidden flaws or toxins within any object.]
[Cost: 1 Aura per activation.]
With perception out of the way, the next goal was Battlewill.
For that, he needed an opponent. He called Rachel. She was perfectly suited for this, and luckily, she was still in the city.
"You want me to use my powers on you?" Rachel asked, stepping into the training room a short while later.
"Yeah," Caelus invited her to the center of the reinforced floor. "I need you to fight me using at least a Silver III level of strength."
"Alright," Rachel agreed, looking slightly speechless.
She did not know exactly what Caelus was trying to achieve, but she did not mind helping him train. It was likely related to an Aura breakthrough.
Rachel unleashed her terrifying frost powers. Thick, glacial armor coated her figure, and a massive, spiked war hammer made of ice materialized in her grip.
"Here I come!" she shouted, kicking off the ground with genuine fighting intent.
Caelus drew his Frostbite Longsword and met her charge head on.
CLANG!
The sheer kinetic force of Rachel’s hammer slamming into his sword sent a violent shockwave echoing through the training room. Caelus’s arms went entirely numb. Rachel’s Silver III combat score of 3 was overwhelmingly heavy. He was instantly forced onto the defensive, his boots skidding backward across the floor.
During this grueling process, Caelus was actively channeling his Aura, trying to force it to evolve under pressure.
But since Rachel was attacking with the crushing weight of a Silver III, Caelus was being completely overpowered.
"Again!" Caelus gritted his teeth, parrying a sweeping strike aimed at his ribs.
He used all sorts of footwork and sword moves, sweating profusely. Fighting against her overwhelming physical stats was draining his Aura at a terrifying rate. Every block felt like catching a falling boulder. Furthermore, his stamina stealing accessory was completely useless because Rachel’s defense was impeccable. He had not managed to land a single solid hit to trigger the steal effect.
CLANG! CRASH!
They clashed fiercely. Caelus’s Frostbite Longsword blazed with desperate power as he continuously tried to deflect the massive hammer. His muscles screamed in agony. Every time he blocked, his knees buckled slightly under the oppressive weight.
His Aura pool was plummeting. It dropped to 10. Then 5.
Finally, his Aura reserves hit a critical 2. He was on the absolute brink of total exhaustion. His vision swam, and his lungs burned for air.
"Should we stop?" Rachel asked mid swing. She halted her hammer inches from his shoulder, noticing his trembling legs and deathly pale complexion.
"Not yet!" Caelus roared.
He desperately wanted to stop. His body was screaming at him to collapse. But his core was burning. His Aura was edging him on. He felt it, a latent, explosive power hovering right at the boundary of his consciousness. He just needed to break through the physical and mental barrier to unleash it.
Caelus forced his heavy arms to raise the sword. He charged at her again, his strikes sloppy but fueled by pure, unadulterated willpower.
Rachel easily deflected his blade. Not wanting to coddle him if he asked for a real fight, she countered with a fierce, downward overhead strike that carried the full, crushing weight of a Silver III expert. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Sylvia, who had been practicing her own Mind Power on the sidelines, stopped entirely. Her red eyes widened in alarm as she watched Rachel’s strike descend toward a completely defenseless, exhausted Caelus.
Caelus looked up at the descending hammer. He breathed heavily. He had no power left to put grip to his sword. He had no physical strength left to dodge.
But then, something inside his soul snapped.
The world abruptly flashed black and white around the training room. Sound muted entirely. A terrifying pressure erupted from Caelus’s exhausted body. His eyes glowed with a blinding, blood red light as the golden symbols of chaos perception formed around it. A tyrannical power that completely defied his drained physical state surged through his veins like a dormant volcano finally erupting.
Ding!
[Your body has broken through its absolute limits.]
[You have obtained the Skill: Battlewill.]
Ding!
[System Detection: You are an Ender.]
[An Ender’s will can crush a world.]
[Evolving Battlewill...]
[You have successfully obtained: Ender’s Will.]
[Ender’s Will: The threshold of Battlewill is infinitely increased. When you are thoroughly exhausted while fighting an opponent, there is a rare chance to shatter your limits and tap into your endless, latent potential. This allows you to fight far above your power level, utilize powers that have already been exhausted, and completely ignore cooldowns for a brief duration. Once out of it, you will fall into exhaustion.]
BOOM!
Caelus’s dormant Aura exploded outward in a violent crimson shockwave.
In a fraction of a millisecond, the sheer tyrannical force of his newfound Ender’s Will completely overpowered Rachel’s Silver III attack. The massive ice hammer was violently deflected upward. Rachel was blasted backward, her boots carving deep trenches into the reinforced floor as she struggled to remain standing against the shockwave.
