Chapter 44: Dinner at the Church! Baron! Death
[Demon Spirit Doll Who Is Slightly Fond of You]!
"Hm?"
Su Xuan was a little surprised. He hadn’t expected the Demon Spirit Doll’s description to change.
But he quickly realized this change only seemed to happen before recruitment. Once a character was recruited, their descriptions would become fixed.
"Um... could you give me that stone, please?"
the Demon Spirit Doll suddenly pleaded with Su Xuan.
"The stone?"
Su Xuan thought for a moment and took out the strange black stone again.
Although this stone was related to a Witch, he didn’t understand what the Demon Spirit Doll wanted with it.
"You want this?"
"Mhm," the Demon Spirit Doll nodded. "The Witch’s aura is the best nourishment for my soul. Please, my good Master, won’t you grant it to me?"
"Then you can have it."
Su Xuan placed the black stone on the Demon Spirit Doll’s small hand.
Even though she was just a cloth doll, she magically emitted a suction force, pulling the small stone into her palm.
Then, a faint pink fluorescent light flickered, like Magic. In an instant, the small black stone vanished without a trace.
At that moment, an exquisite, scissor-shaped hair clip materialized in the glow and fastened itself to the Demon Spirit Doll’s curly pink hair.
"Thank you, Master," the Demon Spirit Doll whispered her thanks.
[Attention!]
[Demon Spirit Doll Who Is Slightly Fond of You]! has changed to [Demon Spirit Doll Who Is A Little Fond of You]!
"?"
Su Xuan stroked his chin. ’If I keep being nice to the Demon Spirit Doll, couldn’t I eventually upgrade her to [Demon Spirit Doll Who Is Super Fond of You]?’
’Wouldn’t starting with max affection be Invincible?’
"Ah... I’m sleepy... Master... I want to... sleep..."
Suddenly, the Demon Spirit Doll’s voice grew languid, and then she fell silent.
"A Witch’s creation? Why was it in Emily’s hands?" Su Xuan glanced at the Demon Spirit Doll in his hand and muttered to himself.
...
With a flash of white light, Su Xuan was back in the Silver Moon Town Church.
It was now four-thirty in the afternoon, and the Nuns were busy preparing dinner.
Su Xuan asked Ivsha curiously, "What are you all preparing for? It seems so grand."
Ivsha explained patiently, "Today is the last day of the month. We prepare a lavish dinner to thank everyone for their hard work over the past month."
"I see." Su Xuan nodded thoughtfully, his gaze sweeping around.
While it couldn’t be called a feast, the dinner was still prepared with great care. The tables were laden with fresh fruits and vegetables grown by the Nuns of the church, as well as chicken and other items donated by townspeople and believers.
"Mr. Su Xuan, why don’t you join us for dinner here at the church?" a few Nuns invited with a smile.
"I’d love to," Su Xuan readily agreed.
"Wonderful! We hope the food we made is to your liking!" the Nuns said happily before returning to their busy preparations.
As the guest of honor, Su Xuan simply had to wait quietly to one side. Rosaline was there to keep him company.
He waited until it was six in the evening, with dinnertime drawing ever closer.
Just then, Su Xuan noticed Sister Kelly’s expression turning anxious, as if something was wrong.
"Sister Kelly, has something happened?" Su Xuan walked over and asked with concern.
"Mr. Su Xuan..." Sister Kelly looked up, her plump face filled with worry. She explained softly, "Sister Moran went out this morning and still hasn’t returned. I’m a bit worried about her!"
"Did she say where she was going?" Su Xuan asked.
"I remember she said she was going to Baron Noda’s manor," Sister Kelly replied.
Baron Noda was once a Law Enforcement Knight in Silver Moon Town. He was later recognized by the Royal Family and transferred to a post in the Royal City.
Everyone understood that he had returned to his hometown on a mission.
"I’ll go take a look," Su Xuan offered.
"Oh, wonderful! We’ll have to trouble you then, Mr. Su Xuan!" Sister Kelly said gratefully.
...
Inside the Baron’s manor, Noda was sitting in the garden, enjoying a cup of coffee. On the table before him were several photographs of Nuns, including one of Ivsha.
He scrutinized the photos, a cold glint in his sharp eyes.
"Who exactly is the target the Princess is looking for?" Noda muttered to himself, lost in thought.
His mission was to capture the Demon hiding in the Silver Moon Town Church and bring it back to the Royal City. However, the sudden appearance of a Demon in Silver Moon Town had continuously interfered with his mission.
Now, after several days of effort, he had narrowed down the suspects to five of the Nuns.
And...
Noda picked up Ivsha’s photograph. Her kingdom-toppling beauty had made him keep a close eye on her every move. However, he could never seem to track her whereabouts, leaving him with nothing.
But Noda was convinced that if there truly was a Demon in the church, Ivsha was the most likely candidate. He had been searching for clues to confirm this theory.
He just didn’t understand why the Princess had given him this mission, sending him to Silver Moon Town, thousands of miles from the Royal City, just to capture one Demon.
What could the Princess’s intentions be?
"Ivsha..." Noda murmured the name, unable to fathom the reason behind it all.
Suddenly, a rustling sound caught Noda’s attention.
He immediately focused his attention toward the source of the sound.
He saw a Demon with blood-red skin and a hideous face, beating its wings as it slowly descended onto the branch of a large tree...
...
"Mr. Su Xuan, are you saying you sold all of those Nun’s Talismans?" Ivsha asked in surprise.
"Yes, I sold them and got a considerable sum for them, too!" Su Xuan said with a smile and a nod.
"Then... what about the Nun’s Talisman I gave you?" Ivsha’s beautiful eyes shimmered. She didn’t seem to care how much money the Nun’s Talismans could fetch; she was far more concerned with the answer to this question.
"The talisman you gave me? Of course I’ve kept it with me all this time!" Su Xuan gently patted the pocket of his shirt, where the Nun’s Talisman from Ivsha was stored. ’How could I possibly bear to sell such a precious gift?’
"Phew... that’s wonderful."
Hearing this, Ivsha let out a breath of relief, her beautiful eyes glistening with tears.
Before long, they arrived at Baron Noda’s manor.
However, as they neared the manor, Rosaline suddenly stopped.
"There are sounds of fighting inside the manor!" Rosaline warned Su Xuan.
"Fighting?" Su Xuan was stunned for a second when he heard this, then immediately recalled the contents of Edith’s letter.
’Could it be?’
"Let’s go in quietly," Su Xuan instructed.
He thought to himself, ’Edith and Sister Moran must know each other.’
’So right now, could it be Sister Moran fighting Baron Noda?’
But he immediately dismissed the idea, as Sister Moran wasn’t strong enough to take on Baron Noda.
Just as they entered the manor, they saw Baron Noda being pursued by a mysterious black shadow, constantly retreating.
Suddenly!
The black shadow’s figure instantly accelerated, its claws turning into sharp blades that pierced straight through Baron Noda’s heart.
