Chapter 223: Midterm Exams Preparation

The weekend ended abruptly. With the chaos that occured during the break, the students barely enjoyed their little holiday.

Regardless, there was nothing they could do about it.

"Oh boy, it feels so weird being in class again."

Logan groaned, laying on his table with a bored look.

The other students were also just lazing around, idly chatting each other or pressing their phones.

However, there was still a shadow of the past events lingering in the academy.

No one had expected a place as secure as the Pegasus Will Awakened Academy to suffer an internal attack on that scale. Thankfully, the attack wasn’t too dangerous, and with the limiters released, everyone had a chance to fight back and kill the Awakened Beasts.

As for those who were injured, they had all been healed by the top-tier healers and they were already back to their peak conditions.

"Everyone, settle down."

Followed by the nigh-metallic clicks of Instructor Rina’s shoes, her voice instantly quietened the whole class.

The tall woman walked into the class, her steps even and her gaze poised. She scanned the class briefly, then settled her gaze on a boy.

"Kaiser, see me in my office after this class."

The room froze, and everyone began wondering why ’that guy’ was being called. Was he going to be sanctioned?

Kaiser nodded faintly, his gaze showing no ripple of surprise.

If he had been surprised by such a thing, then he wasn’t qualified to carry the surname ’Solace’.

He already expected Instructor Rina’s words since Friday.

Placing her tablet on the table, the black-haired woman folded her arms, unintentionally accentuating her seductive curves.

"Your midterm exams begins next week. I believe you all have begun to make solid preparations in regards to that."

The instant her voice dropped, a wave of academic discomfort washed over the class, especially those who had not been diligent in reading.

Hazel mapped their reactions, shaking her head in disappointment. If they were already reacting like this towards a midterm exam, then what about the final examinations for the semester?

It seemed she needed to make some preparations to avoid expulsion of some students.

Meanwhile, Instructor Rina pretended she didn’t notice and continued to address the class.

"Also, you have all read the new rules that have been added. If you know what’s good for you, do not disobey any of them. The consequences are not what you can brush off."

This brought the class back to a solemn mood, and they all nodded in agreement.

"Good. Then, I’ll be starting today’s lesson. Pay rapt attention."

When the class finally ended, Instructor Rina gave Kaiser a glance, then walked out of the class.

The boy remained seated for a full minute, then stood up calmly.

At the sound of his chair moving back, all eyes turned to him, and the class automatically went silent.

Their reactions were clearly unusual, but it was also because of an information they had received from Liam during the break.

Kaiser had choked an Awakened Beast to death even with his limiter on. He was just that monstrous.

Only after he left the class did some students release the breath they had been unconsciously holding.

Meanwhile, Kaiser leisurely walked to the teaching faculty. The first room was a general lobby for all the teaching instructors so several eyes turned to him as soon as he entered.

Kaiser met their gazes, then walked into Instructor Rina’s personal office.

The woman sat behind her desk, already expecting him.

Without saying a word, Kaiser closed the door, then sat in the cushion opposite her, calmly crossing his legs.

"I’m here now, Instructor."

Rina blinked, the straightened. "Kaiser... how have you been doing lately?"

The boy was surprised, then understood what she was doing.

’Trying to start from a casual conversation, huh?’

His smile turned frail and harmless.

"Ahh, Instructor. I’ve been a bit tired. After all, I got attacked that night, and I’ve been having nightmares about it."

Rina rolled her eyes, clearly aware that he was feigning fragility and vulnerability.

"It’s a sad occurrence, yes. Rest assured, the academy is ensuring such a thing doesn’t happen again."

Kaiser nodded, then tilted his head. "Is that all?"

Rina’s expression became serious. "That’s enough jokes. Kaiser. Where is the body of the man you killed?"

Kaiser blinked, his expression filled with innocence. "Killed? I killed someone? No, it wasn’t a human."

He looked at the black-haired woman like he had been wronged.

Rina’s forehead creased in confusion. "It wasn’t human? What do you mean?"

With a straight face like a saint, Kaiser lied. "That thing I fought was only a puppet—a homunculus."

Rina frowned, finding it hard to believe. "He was a homunculus? But we clearly saw him talking to you."

He shrugged, reclining in the soft cushion.

"Of course it could talk. Nothing is impossible in the Nirad Realm after all."

The woman sighed, then asked. "Still... where is his—no, its body? We need to make research about it. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged for murder like Gaga."

Kaiser chuckled. "Do you think you can actually charge me for murder? I’m not like that guy who’d play along with you all."

Although he spoke with a smile, his eyes were dark and empty, making Rina incredibly cautious.

He uncrossed his legs, leaning forward to stare at her.

"The body is gone. You can’t gain any information from it. If you need any clue, just tell the chairman I said it’s ’A Vladimir’."

Rina’s eyes shrank. "A Vladimir?"

After thinking for a few seconds, she remembered where she had heard that name, and her eyes widened.

"Hmm, it seems you Reapers are very resourceful. You even know about them. Not bad."

Rina turned to him, her gaze sincere. "Kaiser... are you in any way related to a person named Silvan?"

Kaiser froze, his eyes widening with disbelief.

"How do you... know that name?"

His shock was palpable, causing Rina’s heart to skip a beat. However, she had now confirmed it. Kaiser was indeed related to ’that man.
