Eternal Freedom's Ascension
Chapter 234: Train her (1)
"Hello," Iruca greeted Kaiser with a smile, while Ashley nodded stiffly.
Kaiser returned the greeting with a nod, then waited in silence.
Soon, the elevator doors opened, and the Class-B students stepped out at the third floor.
Kaiser’s brows furrowed. He felt like something was supposed to happen, but didn’t happen. Confused, he could only tap his chin until the doors opened and they stepped out together at the fourth floor.
Once again, he saw Ariel who was just coming out of his room with a towel around his neck.
’Seriously? Where’s this guy going with a towel?’
Meanwhile, Ariel’s gaze darted between the two of them suspiciously, then he walked past them with a simple nod.
Maya couldn’t help but look back at him. "That guy is really strange."
Kaiser just shrugged. "Who isn’t strange these days?"
He opened the door and stepped inside, moving aside for her to enter too.
The room was the same as the last time she had visited. Clean, pristine, and vibrant.
Maya secretly wondered if Kaiser was actually an elf.
"You can rest on the bed. I’ll be quick with the meal."
Once again, the pink-haired girl felt shy and lowered her head, nodding faintly.
"Hm."
While Kaiser headed to the kitchen, she hung her bag, took off her shoes, then gently lay on his bed.
Instantly, she was hit with a heavy scent that made her mind blank out for a moment.
’Wha...’
Dazed, she suddenly felt more relaxed as she inhaled the scent from the bedsheet. Her headache eased a little, and before she knew it, she had been dragged into a wonderful dreamland.
There, she was an elf princess bethroted to an elf knight whom she loved dearly. Together, they were united and conquered every adversary that tried to hinder the growth of their kingdom.
It was truly a splendid dream. Though, unfortunately, it ended abruptly when she felt a presence hovering over her.
Her eyes squinted open, and she saw Kaiser’s face right above her, looking at her with pure curiosity.
A flush rose from her neck to her cheeks instantly.
’Was he watching me while I slept?’
She felt like covering her face with her hands, but that was too childish.
Seeing her squirm on the bed, Kaiser chuckled and straightened his back.
"The food is ready by the way."
It was only then that Maya noticed the nice aroma that had flooded the room.
"Oh. Um, thanks."
She stood up from the bed, and they both sat at the table. Maya uncovered her plate and was stunned.
’He made... this?’
She blinked, her gaze transfixed on the meal before her. It was exquisite, served and dished with carefulness that made her wonder if he was secretly a chef prodigy.
Kai, it can’t be that you’re lying to me and your family actually runs a great restaurant in the world, right?
She cast a suspicious gaze at him. But seeing him indifferent, she couldn’t help but slip out a praise.
"This... looks really promising." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Kaiser looked at her for a moment, then nodded. "Hm."
He picked up his spoon and began to eat quietly.
Maya did the same, carefully taking the first spoonful of the rice into her mouth. Her eyes widened behind her glasses, and she couldn’t help but freeze.
’Seriously... this guy’s cooking is so good.’
She shivered, though she kept her expression composed. Not wanting to act like a food fanatic or a weirdo, she ate calmly, mimicking his movements and eating at a normal pace.
Meanwhile, Kaiser was sulking inwardly.
’This isn’t as good as I wanted. It seems I still can’t compete with that guy, Miel.’
He had intended to surpass his only challenger in cooking, but it turned out he couldn’t. This only made him sulk quietly, and was the reason why he didn’t really pay much attention to Maya’s reaction.
Finally, his mood recovered a little, and he looked at the girl who was quietly eating without a word
Pausing his eating, he casually asked. "Maya. Has there been any improvements to your combat strength?"
The girl also paused, looking at him with an innocent gaze.
After processing his question, she lowered her head and answered.
"Not really. I have only been training by myself so there hasn’t been any major improvement."
Kaiser’s eyes narrowed. "Does Apollo not train you guys?"
She put down her spoon and answered honestly.
"He does. In fact, he’s now competing with those Class-D macho-guys in training. However, I can’t join."
He asked. "Why?"
"His training methods are too brutal. Most people get injured and have to go to the infirmary after the sessions."
She lowered her head further.
"I know it’s cowardly of me to back out, but I’m not a fan of things that stressful. It’s really a bit... um, harsh."
Kaiser looked at her like he was looking at an alien. But that was normal. He had grown up in the Solace Clan after all.
Compared to his family’s training, Apollo’s training would even be more insignificant than dust.
So facing Maya, who felt intimidated by Apollo’s methods, he couldn’t help but feel strange.
However, he also understood her. After all, she never had any interest in the matters of Awakened while she was younger.
She just wanted to be a detective solving crimes.
"Hmm..."
Kaiser pondered as he ate his meal, wondering if there was anything he could do to help her.
Suddenly, an idea came to his mind. "Do you do female workouts?"
Unexpectedly, she nodded with a smile.
"Yes. I used to have passion for ballet when I was younger."
Kaiser’s eyes lit up. "Good, good. Then I will devise a way for you to improve your combat ability. Since your main weapon is a scythe, it should be pretty easy."
Maya’s eyes glistened in anticipation. "Really? You can do that?"
Deep down, despite not liking the combat aspect of being an Awakened, she could no longer do anything about it. So while she still disliked harsh training, she still wanted to grow stronger.
After all, a weak Awakened was bound to die coldly at the hands of some Nirad creatures sooner or later.
Seeing the flicker of hope in her eyes, Kaiser nodded.
"Yeah. I’ll schedule a private training room for us tomorrow."
