Eternal Freedom's Ascension
Chapter 243: A Vladimir Serpent
Mordica was still on the ground, looking at the shredded pieces of the bottle with a conflicted expression.
"Is it something precious?"
Kaiser asked, crouching before her.
He also observed the bottle pieces, noticing they they weren’t plastic material but actually rare crystals.
"Oh..." He blinked, then looked at Mordica. "Do you want it repaired?"
As if his words were lightning, she looked at him, her brows twitching.
"What? Adjust it with paper tape? Or heal it?"
There was indignation, helplessness, and resignation in her voice.
Kaiser nodded. "Yes. That’s the word—Heal."
To Mordica’s surprise, the fragmented pieces immediately snapped back into place, becoming whole once again. The marks where they had been cut were completely erased, and it looked as new as ever.
Mordica’s mouth hung open slightly.
"You... what kind of sorcery was that? Did you reverse time?"
He shook his head. "No? Time isn’t something simple to manipulate, and mind you, that’s not sorcery."
He facepalmed.
"Is sorcery everything you witches know? Aren’t most of you all Awakened by now?"
Although Mordica’s face remained hardened, the faint blush on her face was undeniable.
"You... forget it. Thanks anyway."
Kaiser nodded, but didn’t stand up. Instead, he looked up at the revealing posters on the wall and commented casually.
"I must admit, you watch a lot of fantasy animes."
Her face twitched again, and she couldn’t help but reach out to twist his ear.
Of course, Kaiser caught her hand before it could reach him.
"Alright, I’ll get going. You shouldn’t make such mistakes anymore."
He stood up, stretched his legs, then turned towards the door.
Suddenly, he paused. His eyes narrowed, his instincts screaming of danger.
’Where?’
He glanced at Mordica, and seeing the confused expression on her face, he knew she wasn’t responsible.
"Why are you standing there like a statue? If you don’t le—"
Her words stopped abruptly, because she realized they weren’t in her room anymore.
’What?!’
She immediately stood up, alert. All around them was purple, like they were standing in a purple void. Although she liked the color, being randomly thrown into a place like this, without any visual features except the ground beneath their feet made her feel nauseated.
Her gaze locked onto Kaiser’s back, her voice low and dangerous.
"What did you do?"
Kaiser didn’t turn back immediately. He crouched, then touched the ground gently.
A subtle ripple spread out, and Kaiser’s head snapped towards the left.
"Come out."
The whistling of an arrow answered him, followed by a Sonic boom.
The arrow stopped right in front of his eyes, held back by the Bottom Arachnid shadow he had summoned.
Seeing him suddenly get attacked, Mordica was surprised, then her expression turned grim.
"What are we facing?"
She asked, inching closer to stand beside him.
Kaiser slowly stood up, sighing as he rubbed his eyelids tiredly.
"Bounty hunters."
Her eyes sharpened. "Bounty hunters?"
Kaiser nodded. "I’ve experienced this in the past. Several times. Assassination attempts. All futile."
Mordica was astonished, and turned to look at the direction where the arrow came from. There was nothing except purple.
"We can’t see them?"
Kaiser nodded, his posture relaxed. "It’s because they haven’t shown themselves... yet."
His blue eyes narrowed, finally seeing a dark, burly silhouette in the distance. The person wielded a massive bow similar to Kaiser’s Longing.
Mordica saw him too, and prepared herself to attack him.
"Wait. There should be more."
Just as Kaiser’s voice dropped, something fell from above.
He immediately summoned the Nullweave Carapace and raised his palm above his head.
Boom!
Something slammed into his palm, causing the purple ground beneath his feet to crack.
Kaiser remained unharmed, as he had transfered the impact of the attack directly to the ground beneath him.
Mordica looked up, seeing another burly man landing behind them while holding the gigantic hammer Kaiser had stopped.
"There should be more..."
As he spoke, he suddenly leaned back, dragging the purple-haired witch with him.
A chain with an arrowhead shot past them, then was retracted back to where it came from.
Mordica’s expression darkened. "Three of them."
"No, there are actually five of them."
Hearing this, she was surprised again. Five bounty hunters? Could the two of them handle them all?
Still relaxed, Kaiser looked at the archer.
"You can separate yourself from him now. I’ve seen everyone of you."
A chuckle resounded in the purple realm, and then something uncoiled itself from the man’s body.
"?!" Mordica was immediately alert, wasting no time to summon her daggers.
"You are really worthy of being a Solace. I didn’t expect that your family still haven’t perished."
The figure that uncoiled from the archer was a large serpent that continued to grow in size.
"Naturally, I’ve heard about you Vladimir Serpents too. It’s just that the first one of you I met is a bit... disappointing."
The towering snake laughed, its voice rumbling through the space.
"Your arrogance truly knows no bounds. I didn’t expect my brother to die that way too."
Kaiser’s brows rose. "He’s your brother? Unexpected."
"Wait. Are you two friends or something? Quit the chit-chat and do something."
Mordica snapped with an annoyed expression.
Finally, the serpent’s attention turned to her. "Oh! A young witch! Really beautiful! Unfortunately, you’re not as good-looking as I am!"
Mordica’s expression stiffened, and even Kaiser was surprised.
"Brother... are you a girl?"
There was no way that thick voice belonged to a female, right?
The serpent hissed. "Absolutely not! I am something that transcends both male and female! I am a femboy!"
Mordica’s expression crumbled, and she couldn’t help but cast a peculiar look at the snake.
"A femboy?"
Kaiser chuckled, then stepped forward. Slowly, an oppressive pressure enveloped them all.
"I want to see how strong this Vladimir femboy is."
Without turning back, he said to Mordica. "You handle the other four with this spider. Don’t worry, it won’t harm you."
The Bottom Arachnid made some chattering sounds and turned to Mordica.
Meanwhile, Kaiser cracked his knuckles and faced the serpent.
"Don’t break too fast. It’d be too boring."
In response, the serpent laughed and attacked.
