By closing his eyes to rest his spirit, he could perceive the slightest stir in his surroundings and possessed the ability of Introspection.

Now, as his cultivation improved step by step, his Perception Power was also constantly evolving.

His Introspection ability had evolved into Spiritual Sense. With a single sweep, he could ascertain the condition of his entire body. However, this Spiritual Sense couldn’t yet be projected outward like Yun Hong’s and Xu Zhongguo’s, which they used to inspect a person’s physical condition from afar or even sense their bodily strength.

At this moment, the ethereal network connecting his Sea of Consciousness and his Dantian Qi Vortex began to tremble. Chu Lingguang discovered that his perception of his surroundings was growing increasingly clear.

His Perception Power could actually be projected outward.

The scenes he perceived were no longer a blur, nor were they limited to just the slightest stir. Instead, he could clearly see the source of those stirrings and the trajectories of movement around him, taking in everything happening in all directions.

’Projecting my Spiritual Sense?’

’I understand now. This is my own Spiritual Sense Fluctuation.’

’So, even though Spiritual Sense originates from the Sea of Consciousness, it’s inextricably linked to the Dantian Qi Vortex. That ethereal network permeating every part of my body—that is my Spiritual Sense.’

’The basis for projecting Spiritual Sense is to make that ethereal network vibrate and release fluctuations. The wider the range of these fluctuations, the broader my perception becomes.’

’The higher the frequency and intensity of the fluctuations, the clearer the perception, and the stronger the resulting ability will be.’

Chu Lingguang was thrilled.

He felt as if he had solved a great mystery or found the key to using his Spiritual Sense. The world itself seemed to have become clearer.

He sent out a sweep of his Spiritual Sense. Fluctuations radiated from the ethereal network. The scenery of the surrounding courtyard was reflected in his Sea of Consciousness, transmitting a rapid-fire series of images directly to him. It was as if his eyes had gained a form of clairvoyance, allowing him to see everything in and around the courtyard.

’My Spiritual Sense’s range isn’t large enough. It only covers a twenty-meter radius.’

’To increase the range, I’ll have to release stronger fluctuations so they can spread farther.’

Chu Lingguang muttered to himself.

He swept his Spiritual Sense out again, this time turning it inward to inspect his own body.

The ethereal network—which connected his Sea of Consciousness, his Dantian Qi Vortex, and even his flesh, bones, and bloodline—was vibrating rhythmically. The frequency and intensity of these vibrations determined the range of Chu Lingguang’s perception.

Chu Lingguang examined his Sea of Consciousness and then his Dantian Qi Vortex. He clearly noticed that both the Qi Vortex within his Sea of Consciousness and his Dantian Qi Vortex showed signs of weakening.

’Could the energy for the Spiritual Sense Fluctuation originate from both the Sea of Consciousness and the Dantian Qi Vortex? No, it seems to primarily consume the power of the Dantian Qi Vortex. If I could channel more Qi Vortex Power into that ethereal network, would my Spiritual Sense become even stronger, perhaps even forming a defensive barrier?’

Chu Lingguang was startled by this thought.

His face lit up with excitement as he immediately began to experiment.

He had long sensed a connection between his Sea of Consciousness and his Dantian Qi Vortex and had been trying to figure it out for some time. But he never would have imagined that the dense ethereal network was, in fact, his Spiritual Sense itself.

No wonder that after his Introspection evolved, he could know the condition of his entire body with a single thought. His Spiritual Sense had already permeated his flesh, bones, and even his bloodline, acting like a dense array of sensors installed throughout his body.

It could provide immediate feedback on any changes.

By the same token, the fluctuations he released were also like probes—or even sharp blades. They could allow Chu Lingguang to perceive his surroundings in all directions and anticipate danger, but they could also form an invisible defense. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

A defense against a Consciousness Attack.

Of course, Chu Lingguang wasn’t yet capable of making his Spiritual Sense form a defense, let alone wield Attack Power. Having just managed to figure out the origin of his Spiritual Power and release small-scale fluctuations, his only goal now was to determine if the Dantian Qi Vortex could help his Spiritual Sense evolve.

’And if it could, how would that evolution happen?’

He tried to channel Qi Vortex Power into the ethereal network.

The constant vibration of the network didn’t stop. As the Qi Vortex Power flowed in, the frequency of the vibrations subtly changed.

Chu Lingguang’s perception immediately registered the feedback: the scenes both inside and outside the courtyard grew even clearer.

’Just as I thought.’

Chu Lingguang was overjoyed.

’My theory was correct.’

He quickly sat down and began leafing through the notes and reflections of Yun Hong and Xu Zhongguo, hoping to find a method for turning his Spiritual Sense into a defense.

He vaguely remembered something.

When Xu Zhongguo had inspected the number of his Dragon Elephants, he had felt a strange fluctuation enter his body. His own Introspection had rushed to probe it, but the two fluctuations collided. The impact left him dizzy and disoriented, and he had come out of it much worse for wear.

Chu Lingguang knew that simply letting his Spiritual Sense crash into someone else’s wasn’t a defense. A real defense should be able to withstand an assault, like an indestructible fortress, not something that crumbled at the slightest touch.

Even if his Spiritual Sense was far weaker than Xu Zhongguo’s, he should at least be able to form a conscious resistance—not just stumble over blindly to investigate and get instantly taken out.

Unfortunately.

Neither Yun Hong’s nor Xu Zhongguo’s notes contained any explanation of how to make Spiritual Sense form a defense.

The Zhenyuan Technique only mentioned that by cultivating the Inner Power Heart Method to a certain level, one could not only succeed in Opening the Dantian and Qi Sea but also locate and even expand the Sea of Consciousness, thereby giving rise to Spiritual Sense.

As for how to make Spiritual Sense generate a defense or evolve, it wasn’t mentioned at all. In fact, any content related to Spiritual Sense was largely glossed over.
