Chapter 83: Nature of Blood

Talia, Maria, Lily, Gemma, and Himari sat around a table talking as they had Grade 1 fruits.

With their new level of wealth generated from both bandit groups eating this type of thing as snacks was basically a norm now.

Looking around the table, this was the first time Talia had been so close to people who did not have the Vampyre bloodline.

Even back in the Morvath Camp the workers usually kept a good distance from her so she wasn’t triggered like this.

So the feeling she was currently trying to reel in was something she had not expected.

She had not even noticed it until Himari pointed it out, thinking it was jealousy. Only then did Lily explain it.

Even Lily and Maria could not describe the feeling properly, but it was close to disgust.

At first, Talia was confused... She felt no such thing toward her sister, but when Lily explained she finally understood.

The feelings.

The feelings she had towards said person in her close proximity determined how bad it would get.

And that wasn’t even all, her emotional state would also played a big role.

Say she was angry about something and someone she felt ’disgust’ for soo much as breathes ans she hears it... It won’t end well for said person.

And it got even worse during her periods.

"Oh and it also seems to get worse the stronger you get," Lily said.

"Compared to the both of us, you are obviously struggling more... Even with your mind paths," Maria nodded.

"How have you guys been dealing with it?" Talia asked.

"I have been able to suppress mine well enough... " Maria answered.

"Yeah sure, but only with kids... I have seen you almost kill people for annoying you by existing." Lily snickered.

"I am not the one that has to have most of her meetings online." Maria immediately retorted.

Yes it was true. Lily was barely keeping it together at work after all she didn’t even like most of the people she was working with.

This was also another reason a bit minor she handed the leader ship to the COO, whose throat she almost clawed out as warning.

"Is that why Lord Jensen is so cold?" Lily paused before asking.

Talia, Himari, and Gemma turned to Maria, waiting for an answer.

They had spent the day together planning and they had gotten to know each other more, so they knew the relationship between Jensen and Maria.

Maria pondered for a few seconds before shaking her head. "I do not think it is my place to tell you but I think it is most likely a combination of both his childhood and the bloodline."

They nodded and did not ask any more questions.

Talia was the first to speak. "I used to think he was emotionless... But now, I am not so sure."

Maria’s eyes perked up immediately. "Why? Did something happen?"

"I think he consoled Elda through the night... He even let her lay on his shoulder," Talia explained.

Maria’s eyes brightened.

"You mean the crazy girl," Gemma asked causing everyone’s faces to twitch.

"Yes."

"But that does not mean he has feelings. He could have been bored or even experimenting on her... You never know," Himari said with a smile.

"Why would I not have feelings?" Jensen’s voice suddenly came from behind them.

All five women jumped, startled by the sudden voice.

A nano moment later, all three women with the vampyre bloodline were hit with an ungodly stench of alcohol.

They immediately turned off their sense of smell and located the culprit of such horrendous smell.

At first, they thought it was a bundle of unknown items wrapped in black clothes... Then they heard the snoring.

Disgust immediately appeared on their faces. Jensen casually walked by, to the cellar next door, threw the bundle into the cellar, and shut the door.

He turned around and walked back to the women. Just from their expressions, Jensen could tell they were hoping he would move on from the question but he had a different plan.

His eyes focused on Himari, who seemed to be pushing herself down into her chair, wishing to disappear.

However if wishes were horses, even beggars would ride.

"Why do you think I do not have emotions?"

Himari sighed, she didn’t want to answer but based on what she knew about Jensen, he would most likely prefer a wrong answer to complete silence.

And her place in the family wasn’t even secure yet.

"The moment I began speaking with the other ladies, I realized that you most likely did not believe a thing I said... According to them they all gained their gifts immediately you were satisfied... But you just brought me here without granting me the bloodline for reasons only known to you." Himari coughed up at once.

A small, playful smile appeared on Jensen’s usually blank face.

"If I did not believe you or felt you were lying, I would have killed you right there," Jensen said and the smile disappeared. "The reason I brought you here without giving you the bloodline was because I simply have not decided how useful you will be. That, will determine the grade of bloodline I give you."

Himari sighed in relief. Honestly she had been trying to rack her brain for what to do and that was why she hadgone out of her way to make sure this meeting occurred.

Jensen turned to Maria and gestured at Himari and Gemma. "Do you think they will be of use?"

Maria nodded immediately. "They both have experience in subjects none of the rest of us do. While we are building a private settlement, we still have to get involved in regular towns if we want to spread our influence and also no matter how I see it spies are a must."

Jensen nodded at Maria’s answer. He had thought the same so decided to go with it.

’Noble bloodline it is,’ he accepted.

’Is there a way to transfer a part of the bloodline to Maria?’ Jensen asked Xal’Zyraeth.

Maria had certain biases toward children but Jensen thought she would be the best person to give out the bloodline in his stead.

’Just hold her hand and push some of the container holding the blood essence,’ Xal’Zyraeth answered before going quiet again.

"Your hand," Jensen said to Maria.

She raised her hand to him immediately. He grasped it. He closed his eyes and focused.

The Morvath symbol that usually remained hidden on the back of his hand reappeared, shining blood red.

Slowly, he pushed part of the Morvath mark from his hand to hers.

He did not give her everything... Only one thousand Common Vampyre Blood Essence and ten Noble Vampyre Blood Essence.

As for the rest, he planned to keep them with himself for the foreseeable future.

"I have given you one thousand common and ten noble drops of blood essence... Use them wisely."

Hearing Jensen’s words, Himari’s and Gemma’s eyes began to sparkle.

This was their chance... As long as they could get Maria to give them... They were set.

Jensen turned toward them. "As for you two..."

Two drops of noble blood essence appeared before him and shot directly into their foreheads.

Both of them blacked out instantly.

He looked at the three remaining women. "Anything else before I leave?"

"My Lord, about the family emblem..." Talia pointed at the symbol on Maria’s hand, which she was admiring. "It looks almost demonic."

Jensen paused for a second to think... In truth, he also thought so.

While horns and bat wings were not only used by demons, they were more prevalent among them.

Someone would most likely use it against them in the future... Probably to accuse them of colliding with demons. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

If they could avoid that, it would be for the best.

"You?" Jensen glanced at Lily.

"I think so too, my Lord," Lily answered immediately. "Given that demons are our mortal enemies, using such a symbol will definitely draw issues."

Jensen turned to Maria.

"I think the same, my Lord."

Jensen nodded. "Very well... Change the entire head to a drop of blood." He paused. "Is that all?"

"Yes, my Lord." All three of them stood up and bowed as Jensen walked away.

He paused for a bit and glanced back.

"Just so you know, I do have emotions... However, life on the street since childhood taught me to hide them. That will stay the same." Jensen said as he walked up the stairs. "Keep an eye on our prisoner."

He planned to cultivate until Taro sent him a message.

Talia nodded and commanded the thrall to stand guard over Jack.
