Chapter 112 Meeting wife candidate

“Just one girl requested to meet you to see if you two have any chemistry. I figure with your luck we’d have like fifty bitches trying to climb into your bed.” Sophie finished a beer before she looked for somewhere to set the bottle down. We're making our way from our home to the sheriff’s house, because that’s where she was. I could already see a huge crowd of people gathered around the entrance as Sophie tried to stealthily leave the bottle on the ground before getting yelled at by Cherry that our children play in these streets.

Work was already underway as the nearby forest was being cut down to make way for more houses. The country had fallen into a downward slope because of its terrible leader, who stopped signing contracts and let his own country start to rot because he couldn’t be bothered to rule. That was slowly being corrected by the new king, but it would take time, and he saw the value of having more protection near our borders than we previously had.

There were three carriages, a half dozen horses, and two guards with several servants standing outside the mayor’s home. Not all my wives were coming, but enough were coming to get a read on her personality in case I missed something. Making our way to the door, I half expected the guards to stop us, but as we made our way inside, they made no attempt to stop us.

Inside was filled with even more servants and guards, practically filling the hallway as they were just as unsure as we were on where to stand or what to do. Making our way inside and to the dining room, I heard an animal loudly and ravenously eating something, until we opened the door, and I saw who it really was. A little girl was ripping the flesh off a rack of ribs as she stripped the bones clean before sucking on them.

I was so taken aback at the sight that I just sort of stood there, blocking the doorway for a few seconds before making my way inside. She noticed us, then noticed her appearance as she collected herself and wiped the sauce off her face as we sat down to eat as well. We've already eaten, but I could always go for some ribs and potatoes.

“Yummy ribs!” Tems agreed with me as she started piling up her own plate. “Nice to meet you. I’m not sure what we’re supposed to do… Should I shake your hand or hug you? What is the protocol for figuring out if we’re betrothed or not?”

She looked confused as she began to delicately cut the meat off the ribs. “What do you mean? There’s no betrothal. This meeting is to see if we can stand each other enough for us to get married today.” I was taken aback again by how fast things were moving. I hadn’t really got a good look at her from the back, but now that I did… She looked frail.

She was sitting down, so I couldn’t judge her true height, but she was small. Possibly shorter than five feet, and I would put her below eighty pounds in weight. Sure, she was beautiful, beautiful blonde hair, a cute, delicate face, but I’d honestly be afraid of hurting her if we did have carnal relations. She looked young, like barely legal age, but that could just be her nobility showing through. I’m about to question this when she cut me off.

“I agree, we’re married now. My servants can stay here until the mansion is built. I’ll live with you until then.” Everyone just acted like this wasn’t insane, and I once again felt out of place as the only one acting like seeing someone and marrying them the next minute wasn’t normal.

Cynthia’s Point of View

I couldn’t really believe it. I knew he had ten wives, but it’s one thing to hear about it and another to see it. I was more shocked at how properly they all worked together. My mother had her own faction with the king, and while the king had many wives, almost none of them got along, constantly fighting for his attention. His home felt like a chaotic mess, but everything just somehow worked.

An orc picked up a baby before sniffing it and handing it off to the blonde elf to have its diaper changed. The kobold girl play-fought the older children and drew their attention. The quieter ones were all sitting over in a corner reading until someone got close, where the dark elf would look up with a smile that would send them away.

Now, protocol dictated that my guards and servants stayed with me the entire time, but I was glad I did away with that because it let me truly enjoy myself here. You didn’t realize how much you needed something until you had it. They didn’t view me as a delicate princess; no, day one, I was washing clothes or picking crops. I spent every waking hour busy… And I loved it.

That wasn’t even mentioning the food. Every single day, we were greeted with two tables full of some of the most delicious food I’d ever eaten. It was to the point I could feel my cells recovering from consuming it. My nutrient-starved body gorged itself on as much of the food I could get in my body every single meal. If anyone was outside looking in, in just a week, they’d have noticed the changes in my body as I rapidly grew.

Sure, I was still petite, the petite that was popular for other nobles to be, but I wouldn’t be if I kept it up. I was the smallest of his wives, besides the gnome, and just barely bigger than the dwarf, but that wouldn’t be the case if I kept eating as I had been ever since I moved in. I couldn't help but notice my breasts grow. I had a full-length mirror in my room, so I knew what my body looked like naked as my maids would dress me, but now that I didn’t, I could only judge the increase in my breast size by touch alone.

And they felt bigger. I had no breasts before, but now I do. They were still small, but once again, that wouldn’t be the case for much longer if I kept up my new diet. Surprisingly, I hadn’t noticed any negative side effects. No, if anything, I felt far better than I had previously.

Something did stand out to me, though. My ‘husband’ hadn’t made any moves that he should have since we were husband and wife now… It had me slightly worried. It had me worried enough that the cowgirl noticed and told me how to handle it. “Our husband is kind of dense. The easiest way to deal with a problem is to just let him know.”

That was exactly what I did. I waited for one of the few lulls in activity. Most of the children were taken into town while the other wives went into the dungeon, leaving only a handful of us at the farm when I approached him. “Umm… So when are we going to consummate this relationship?”
