Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2273: A Subtle and Unexplainable Feeling
"Let’s go!" She tugged at his arm.
The evening breeze blew, carrying the scent of dried autumn grass and a hint of the lake’s fresh aroma.
It was especially quiet all around.
Sylvan Cheney was like a child who got candy, very satisfied, stepped out of the car with a cheerful face, and obediently followed Jasmine Yale.
"Let me carry your bag." Sylvan, heavily drunk, kept his gaze fixed on Jasmine.
"Oh." Jasmine took the bag off her shoulder and tossed it into his arms.
"I’ll carry you up."
"No, absolutely not." Jasmine quickly stopped him, "I can’t take it."
She dared not let a drunken man carry her.
"Oh." Sylvan didn’t insist, just looked a bit deflated.
Shortly after, Jasmine led Sylvan upstairs.
This time after their quarrel, he didn’t change the lock like last time; the code was still the same as before.
Opening the door, Jasmine felt very tired.
Sylvan, however, seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood.
Jasmine leaned against the wall to change into slippers, too tired to move further, and simply sat on the sofa.
She intended to pour some water but found there was nothing in his apartment.
"Sylvan, don’t you live here? There’s not even a drop of water in the apartment; what do you do when you’re thirsty?" Jasmine complained helplessly.
"There’s cold water in the refrigerator..."
"Refrigerator?" Jasmine was fuming, "In this weather, you’re still drinking cold water?"
Sylvan looked innocent, blinking at her: "Leftover from summer..."
"Forget it, forget it..." Jasmine felt she was going to be driven crazy by him, idiot.
The drunken Sylvan ran to open the fridge door, took out a bottle of mineral water, holding it seriously as if he were discussing a contract, his brows slightly furrowed.
He held the mineral water firmly, with great importance.
At first, Jasmine didn’t notice, planning to boil some water.
Turning around, she saw Sylvan standing there silly with the mineral water in his arms.
"What are you doing?" Jasmine snatched the cold water from his embrace, "Are you looking to catch a cold?"
Sylvan looked at her innocently, his voice raspy, weary, and tipsy: "If I hold it for a while, it won’t be cold anymore. You can’t drink cold water."
Jasmine stared at him, feeling both exasperated and amused, with a hint of an inexplicable sensation, her eyes moistening slightly.
The words she intended to scold him with swallowed back down, her mouth opened slightly.
Her tone softened, placing the bottle on the table: "Go take a shower. I’m not thirsty anymore. Are you okay?"
"I’m fine."
Jasmine’s lips curled into a faint smile, not minding his smell anymore.
"I’ll prepare clothes and hot water for you. Sit for a while, don’t move around, don’t touch anything, and if you feel like vomiting, go to the bathroom, understand?"
"Mm." Sylvan was very obedient and didn’t move, just kept watching Jasmine.
When Jasmine tidied the pajamas, he watched.
When Jasmine opened the window, he watched, sitting upright, very proper.
Jasmine wasn’t moving conveniently, but she didn’t expect Sylvan to help, so she did things slowly.
Occasionally, she’d glance back at Sylvan sitting on the sofa, feeling he was particularly like a child.
He was very well-behaved.
In his hand, he clutched the pumpkin lamp plush toy Jasmine gave him, holding it tightly, unwilling to let go. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Your clothes are scattered all over again; I just helped you organize it last time." Jasmine looked at the wardrobe helplessly, "Next time, don’t throw them around, or I won’t be able to find what I want."
