Sophie thanked her and looked around. "The TV station is quite huge. I almost went to the wrong place."

"It’s okay, you might not be familiar with the layout since it’s your first time here." Janice smiled.

"Then... Where is your office?"

Sophie asked.

Janice pointed in the direction of the door. "It’s on the left of the entrance."

"I see."

Sophie seemed to be lost in thought and didn’t continue the conversation.

Moments later, the director and scriptwriter arrived, and Janice left them so they could discuss in private.

After all, it was their business as she was only responsible to report whatever that was agreed upon in the discussion.

Her mind flashed to the relationship between Christopher and Sophie. What if Christopher found out that Sophie had joined her show?

Janice pondered for a moment, then she thought that the probability of him discovering it was low.

After all, with his character, Christopher wouldn’t have watched the TV at all. He wouldn’t have discovered it.

She breathed a sigh of relief after she thought about it.

On the other side, in Christopher’s office.

"Did you send out the schedule for this episode?"

Rob replied, "Yes, everyone will send their screenshots to the WhatsApp group later."

"That’s good," Christopher muttered.

Rob wondered and didn’t understand Christopher’s actions. He tried to probe, "Mr. Bateman, there’s something I don’t understand."

Christopher said, "What is it?"

Rob said, "You can pay money to increase the viewer ratings if you want Ms. Gladwell’s show to be popular. There’s no need to do this."

Christopher frowned. "You won’t understand, those ratings are fake. How could we do such a thing? We’re a technology company."

There was a strained silence in the room.

Rob murmured to himself, "We’re artificially boosting the ratings because you forced us to watch it. Isn’t it the same?"

Of course, he didn’t dare to say it out loud to Christopher.

In the TV station.

Janice was busy with work the entire morning. She only realized that it was already time for lunch after she finished her work and her colleagues had all gone for lunch.

She glanced at her watch and got up from her seat. She glanced at the conference room when she passed by and found that the meeting was still ongoing.

"Looks like the discussion went quite smoothly. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have taken such a long time."

She muttered to herself and went to the canteen.

As soon as she left, someone pushed the door open from inside.

"Thank you for your hard work."

"Not at all, take care, Miss Valen."

Sophie nodded. She was about to leave before she remembered something. "I... I have something to discuss with Janice. Where is she?"

"Sure, Janice’s office is over there."

Director Caleb said as he pointed in the direction of Janice’s office.

"Thank you."

Sophie thanked him. She turned and headed to Janice’s office after they left.

At that time, inside the canteen.

"I want this, this, and this..."

Janice gestured at the food.

She was especially hungry today. She didn’t know what was the reason.

Janice gave the canteen staff her meal card.

"There’s insufficient balance in the card."

Janice stopped and pondered before she remembered something.

She had run out of money on her meal card. Originally, she wanted to reload it this week, but she was outstation a few days ago and she didn’t have meals in the canteen so she forgot about it.

But she didn’t have any money with her now. How could she reload the card?

Janice was frustrated when she thought about it.

If she had known that this would happen, she wouldn’t have spent so much money on the tie!

How embarrassing!

...

"Well... Can I pay you tomorrow? I forgot to bring money with me today."

Janice spoke.

The canteen chef stared at her in confusion.

Janice felt so humiliated that she couldn’t even afford to pay for the meal. She looked at the canteen server, he was probably shocked too.

"Then... should I return the food?" Janice asked weakly.

The canteen staff looked even more flabbergasted.

Janice felt so embarrassed when she saw that everyone was looking at her.

"What should I do?"

She couldn’t just dine and dash, after all.

She apologized, "I’m sorry."

As she spoke, she put down the cutleries and quickly rushed out of the canteen.

"Hey, wait..."

Janice felt extremely awkward when she heard the canteen staff’s voice. She was afraid that he might catch up with her, so she ran even faster. She bumped into someone the moment she left the canteen.

"What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you look where you’re going?"

"I’m sorry." Janice apologized sincerely.

"Janice?"

Suddenly, Janice heard a familiar voice.

She raised her head and met Lucy’s astonished gaze.

"It’s you." Janice puffed.

Lucy continued, "What are you doing? Why are you in such a hurry? What happened?"

Janice sighed in relief when she saw that it was Lucy. "Nothing much, I’m just in a hurry to go back to work."

Lucy frowned. "But you can’t skip lunch. Let’s go back to work after we eat."

Lucy dragged Janice back to the canteen as she spoke. Janice quickly struggled and free herself before she replied, "Uh... I’m not hungry. Go ahead. I’d better go back to work first."

As she spoke, she turned around and was prepared to flee from Lucy.

"Hey, wait, I still have something to tell you."

Lucy called out to her.

With no choice, Janice stopped and asked, "Is it urgent?"

Her stomach was growling in hunger and she didn’t want to be exposed.

Lucy nodded. "It’s about that dog club. I’ve investigated it and found that there’s a problem. It’s a scoop worth exploring."

"Is that so?" Janice wasn’t in the mood to talk about that right now, so she half-heartedly said, "Then you have to grab this opportunity. I’m going back to the office."

"Don’t be in such a hurry. Listen to me first." Lucy held her arm again. Janice frowned.

"I will definitely grab the opportunity. But I need a favor from you," Lucy said embarrassedly.

"What is it?"

Janice asked.

Lucy blinked her eyes. "You know Doctor Valen, right?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Janice nodded.

Lucy asked, "Can you make an appointment with her for me? I have something to ask her."

Janice nodded. "No problem."

"Alright, then I’ll wait for your update."

Janice nodded. She thought that she could finally leave, but she was held back by Lucy again.

"This time, I must do my best so I can get the bonus," Lucy vowed.

Janice was extremely frustrated. She had no choice but to make a gesture to

encourage Lucy. Suddenly...

"Grrr."

Suddenly, her stomach growled.

The sound was so loud that Lucy was taken aback.

"Janice!"

"Well... I’ve had a stomachache. I’ll go now."

Janice turned and ran off.

It was so embarrassing. She wondered what Lucy would think of her.

Lucy wondered as she stared at Janice’s figure scurrying away. Someone bumped into Lucy the moment she turned around.

"What are you doing?"

The canteen server said, "I’m sorry, Lucy. Have you seen Janice?"

...

Lucy was surprised. "Why are you looking for her?"

He explained, "Well, she left in a hurry after ordering her lunch. She left her meal card behind too."

"Lunch?"

Didn’t she say that she had no appetite?

"Please tell her that I’m a fan of hers. Lunch is on me."

He smiled bashfully and turned to leave.

Lucy was confused. "What’s going on?"

Janice ran out in a hurry, but her stomach was still growling. "What should I do?

"I’m so hungry."

She took out her phone and looked at her bank balance. There were only ten dollars left in her account.

"Forget it, I’ll buy instant noodles instead."

She bought some instant noodles and went inside the office. She filled the cup with some hot water from the hot water dispenser and waited for the noodles to cook.

Lucy came into the office with a lunch box. She glanced at the cup of instant noodles in front of Janice and frowned. "What happened? Didn’t you say you weren’t hungry? Why did you come back to the office to eat instant noodles?"

Janice was a little embarrassed to see Lucy. After all, she was acting weird earlier on.

"Well... I’m suddenly hungry again." She changed the subject. "Well, didn’t you go for lunch? Why did you leave the canteen?"

Lucy frowned. "To deliver this to you."

As she spoke, Lucy placed the lunch box and meal card in front of Janice.

Janice’s heart skipped a beat as she stared at it. She thought to herself, "Could it be that the canteen worker told Lucy about my predicament?"

"What is..."

"The guy working in the canteen asked me to give it to you. He said that he was your fan and that lunch was on him."

Janice heaved a sigh of relief when she heard Lucy. But she was still a little embarrassed.

"He’s too nice."

She laughed dryly.

Lucy could sense her discomfort but she didn’t want to expose Janice. "Now that I’ve delivered your meal, I’ll be taking my leave." "Okay, thank you."

Janice thanked her.

Lucy was about to turn around and leave. She accidentally swept the stack of documents on Janice’s table and they fell on the ground with a bang.

Lucy immediately bent down to pick them up.

"It’s okay. I can do it myself."

Janice helped Lucy to pick up the documents.

"What is this?"

Lucy suddenly picked up a photo in the stack of documents and asked Janice.

Janice moved closer and saw that it was a photo of a man and a woman.

The photo looked a little old, and the corners of it were slightly yellow.

But why did the people look so familiar in the picture?

Janice wondered.

Lucy got up and placed the document back on the table. "Alright, sorry about that. Anyways, I’m leaving."

As she spoke, she turned around and left.

Janice, on the other hand, stared at the photo in her hand. Suddenly she recalled. "Isn’t this Sophie?"

Although the woman in the picture looked young, her facial features were still similar to Sophie’s features now.

As for that man...

"He looks like Christopher." She thought.

But she thought it was impossible as the man and the woman in the picture looked close and intimate with each other.

Christopher hated Sophie so much. He would never take this kind of picture with her.

She placed the photo back on the table.

Suddenly, she wondered. Who placed the photo here?

"Was it Director Caleb?"

Why would he place this photo here for no reason?

Janice pondered for a while but she had no conclusion. She sat back down and was preparing to eat her noodles before she remembered the lunchbox that Lucy sent over.

Forget it, she might as well eat it all.

That night, as soon as Janice returned home, she collapsed on the sofa in pain. In order not to waste food, she ate two portions of lunch alone. Until now, she still felt that she was stuffed.

Christopher thought Janice was sick when he returned home and saw her lying on the sofa. He quickly went to her and asked, "What’s wrong?"
