Chapter 143: Do You Have Something To Tell Me?
Sophie glanced at her and said, "Your director invited me to come over." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Janice probably knew the reason why Sophie came over, and she asked, "Your objective has been achieved. Do you still want to be on the show?"
"Achieved? Is it?" Sophie sneered.
Janice suppressed the indignation in her heart, "Isn’t it? You wanted me to know about you and Christopher by putting so much effort into it. And now, I know everything, so do you have to continue with this?"
Hearing this, Sophie looked towards her and sneered.
"Why not? I’m not just coming merely for this. But, since you’ve mentioned it, I hope that you can withdraw voluntarily."
"Don’t even think about it!" Janice said angrily.
Sophie suddenly felt good after seeing her get angry.
She would have definitely gotten pay back on Janice for the time she had suffered at the hands of Christopher back then.
She said, "Then it’s not up to you whether if you want to quit or not." As she spoke, she walked inside in her high heels.
However, Janice could only stand there staring at her back as she entered the TV station, she was pissed off.
She would never let this matter be exposed no matter what.
Thinking of this, she took her phone and dialed a number.
"Can we meet?"
Half an hour later, in a cafe near the TV station.
James walked in and saw Janice sitting in the seat.
He frowned, wondering why she was looking for him.
He walked over and sat down on the seat opposite her.
"What can I do for you?"
Seeing James, she nodded and asked, "Do me a favor."
James was slightly stunned, "Did I hear wrongly? Do you even need my help when your husband is here?"
James thought it was too ridiculous.
After all, Christopher was omnipotent.
Janice knew that it was indeed a little abrupt to ask him like this so rashly, but he was the first person that came to mind.
She said, "I want to cancel a show."
"A show?"
James seemed to understand something, but he frowned, "Well..."
He looked like he was in a difficult position. Janice pursed her lips and said, "I know that this trouble will be difficult for you, but I really have no other choices."
James thought, "It’s not that I don’t want to help you, but I just don’t have that ability."
After all, he was just a nominal company director. Moreover, they had made a deal that he would not intervene in the affairs of the TV station.
But, how would he tell her about this?
James was a little distressed.
Seeing that he did not speak, Janice’s heart sank, "If it’s really that difficult for you, then forget about it. I was being rash."
She nodded apologetically and got up to leave.
"Don’t be..." James scratched his head and finally, said frankly, "Actually, I’m just a nominal member of your TV station. Why don’t you go to Chris?"
"What does it have to do with him?"
Janice looked over in confusion.
James said directly, "Your husband is the largest shareholder of this TV station. He’s the person you should ask."
Janice was stunned after hearing this.
"So Christopher is the largest shareholder of the TV station?"
How was this possible?
She looked at James in disbelief.
James felt a chill in his heart. He got up quickly and said, "Chris didn’t want me to tell you. Don’t tell him that I did."
With that, he got up and walked hurriedly towards to the door.
...
Janice was stunned standing there for a while. When she thought of what James had just told her, she sat back in a daze.
So, was Christopher really the major shareholder of the TV station?
She could not help but recall the treatment towards her at the TV station during this whole time.
No wonder she had received so many work invitations back then.
She still thought that her ability had been acknowledged, but it turned out that it was all because of Christopher.
Nathan’s words could not help but surround her ears.
"Do you really think that you got it all by yourself?"
So, he had already known earlier that the TV station had been acquired by Christopher?
She thought of how she had shamelessly said that she had the ability to create her own achievements.
It turned out that she could not do it without her husband’s help.
Thinking of this, her heart sank.
After James left the cafe, the more he thought about it, he felt that it was better for him to tell Christopher the truth earlier.
If Christopher found out first, he would be in trouble again.
Thought of how Christopher would torture him, James couldn’t help but tremble. He took out his phone quickly and called him.
"Chris, I have something to tell you. Don’t be angry,"
On the other end of the call, Christopher could not help frowning, "Speak."
"I wasn’t able to hide the fact that you are a shareholder of the TV station. Your wife already knows,"
James remained silent after finished speaking and waited guiltily for him to get angry.
Unexpectedly, there was just silence from the other side. The call was hung up when he was about to ask in confusion.
Listening to the beeping tone from the call, James could not help but frown.
It was too difficult for him.
After Christopher hung up the phone, he called Janice immediately.
"Hello?"
Janice’s voice came from the other end of the call.
He could tell that she was not in a good mood.
"Where are you?"
He asked eagerly.
"At home."
Hearing that she was at home, he got up hurriedly and walked out after taking his car key, said, "I’m coming to find you right away."
He drove home in a hurry and rushed into the house as soon as he reached.
"Janice..."
However, he was stunned when he saw the scene at home.
Janice with a black apron on her that was often wore by Christopher. Because of the height difference, she looked like she was wearing a long skirt.
She came out from the kitchen holding a dish with the apron on her. She met his glance and ignored the surprised look on his face.
She placed the dish on the dining table quickly, walked over and smiled, "Honey, you’re back."
As she spoke, she took over the briefcase and the car key above her head and put them on the cabinet near the door.
Christopher stared at her back in a daze and looked at the dishes on the table. "You..."
Janice looked towards the direction of his gaze and explained, "I searched them online, then cooked all of these from scratch. I don’t know whether they taste good or not. Go wash your hands and have dinner."
Seeing that he was still standing there in a daze, she reached out and pushed him to the washroom.
Christopher was pushed into the washroom by her. He was stunned for a while, then only walked towards the sink to wash his hands, and went out.
He walked to the door of the dining place and stared at her busy figure in confusion.
Did she not already know about the TV station?
Why was she not angry at all?
This did not seem like Janice’s usual behavior.
....
She said nothing.
On the contrary, Christopher felt uneasy.
"What are you doing there? Come over here."
When Janice turned around and saw him standing there, she could not help urging him.
Only then did Christopher walk over and sit down at the dining table in a daze.
"This is the first time I’ve made these dishes. I don’t know if they can be eaten, have a taste."
As she spoke, she handed over the cutlery to him.
Christopher paused for a moment and took it. Under her gaze, he casually picked up a dish and put it into his mouth.
"How is it?"
Before he could chew, Janice asked impatiently.
Christopher paused but did not answer immediately. Instead, he chewed the food slowly and swallowed it, then looked towards Janice.
"Not bad."
"Really?"
Looking at his expression, Janice could not believe it. She did not even have the courage to taste it after making it.
Hearing this, she picked up the food and put into her mouth. However, in the next second, she frowned.
"How is it not bad? It’s too salty."
As she spoke, she got up quickly and poured herself a glass of water.
Christopher reached out to take it, he put it aside and said, "It’s okay. It will be a good match with rice, I will have it with rice."
As he spoke, he picked up the bowl of rice in front of him and had it, but in the next second...
With a cracking sound, his teeth seemed to have bitten something hard.
He held it in his mouth awkwardly, not knowing whether to spit it out or swallow it.
A trace of disappointment flashed across Janice’s face when she saw his facial expression.
"I’m sorry, I may not have washed the rice clean, so you’d better not continue to eat
it," As she spoke, she reached out to take away the bowl in front of him, but Christopher stopped her.
"Janice, do you have something to tell me?"
Christopher asked.
From the moment he walked in, he found that she had been behaving weirdly.
Although she did not say anything, the forced smile on her face was too deliberate.
Hearing this, Janice let go of her raised hand slowly, but she did not know where to put it. She shook her head and said, "No."
Christopher stared at her, noticing her helplessness, "Aren’t you already aware of the TV station?"
Janice was stunned when she heard that. However, her gaze clearly evaded and she asked, "What’s the matter about TV station?"
Christopher was very sure by the way she acted, he said, "James told me everything."
Hearing this, Janice slowly let go of his hand, "Oh, you’re talking about this, you don’t have to hide this from me. My husband is the major shareholder of the TV station, shouldn’t I be happy?"
She said with a smile.
Christopher stared at the smile on her face. For a moment, he could not tell whether if it was real.
"Do you really think so?" he asked.
Janice nodded, but she was afraid that he would not believe her. She scoffed and said, "My husband is so rich that he could buy the entire TV station. By the way, do I have any privileges as a wife? Let me get myself an office tomorrow."
She muttered to herself.
She did not notice the expression on Christopher’s face at all.
He did not know if she was speaking the truth, he was lost for a moment.
As Janice spoke, she looked up and met his dazing gaze, "Don’t worry, I’m not angry."
