Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 157: It’s Janice!
Janice remained silent.
Sophie sneered and said, "That maid mysteriously disappeared. I wonder what’s going to happen to you now?"
As Sophie spoke, she shot a sinister glance at Janice, then smiled mockingly before turning and walking off.
Janice clenched her fists and stared. "You think you can sow discord between him and I just like that?"
Hearing this, Sophie stopped in her tracks and turned around to look with a fleeting smile.
Janice continued. "Don’t even think about it. It’s impossible!"
Sophie ridiculed instead. "Then let’s wait and see."
Sophie left and Janice didn’t stay any longer either.
As soon as Yvonne saw Janice walk out, she greeted her. "How was it? Did you fight back?"
Yvonne’s eyes were filled with anticipation.
"Sorry to disappoint you." Janice shrugged.
She sighed.
Yvonne frowned and said, "You’re too soft. Nowadays, when dealing with these kinds of shameless bitches, you have to stop at nothing. If you don’t stand strong,, they’ll walk all over you. If she’s ruthless, you’ll have to be even more ruthless. Being kind will achieve nothing."
Janice frowned at her. "If that’s the case, then what’s the difference between her and me?"
Yvonne thought about it and agreed. Perhaps this was the fundamental difference between good and bad people.
"Then ignore her. As long as you have a good relationship with your husband, everything she does is futile."
Yvonne said.
Janice had always understood this, but at the same time, she was aware that relationships needed to be strong enough to withstand tests.
After this incident, she didn’t know if Christopher would still treat her like before. Would he really blame her for this matter?
After parting ways with Yvonne, Janice drove the car around aimlessly.
She was extremely frustrated.
She didn’t know whether what Sophie said was true, but she knew how important her grandmother was to her grandfather.
What should she do?
She didn’t want to anger her grandfather over this matter, nor did she want Christopher to hold a grudge against her.
Thinking of this, she headed for the Allson villa.
Meanwhile, in the Allson villa.
Christopher walked in and Nanny Daisy came out to welcome him.
"Sir, you’re back."
Christopher nodded and asked, "Where is Grandpa?"
Nanny Daisy sighed. "He just fell asleep."
"Just fell asleep?"
Nanny Daisy said, "After you guys went back last night, I thought that him sleeping, so I didn’t disturb him. But, I went to wake him for breakfast and realized that he wasn’t in bed. Later, I found him in the storage room. He had been sitting there alone for the whole night. His feet were numb from the cold."
Nanny Daisy’s eyes were red as she spoke. "Sir, I know, it’s my fault. I should’ve guarded the dress, but what should I do now?"
Nanny Daisy was filled with guilt.
Christopher’s expression was serious, but he comforted her. "Don’t say that. It’s not your fault. Maybe Grandpa will be fine after taking a nap."
Nanny Daisy nodded with red-rimmed eyes.
At this moment, the doorbell rang. Christopher glanced at the nanny and said, "Open the door."
Nanny Daisy nodded, then walked over while wiping away her tears. However, when she saw Janice on the security screen, she was stunned for a moment, "It’s Miss Janice."
Hearing this, Christopher walked over and saw Janice standing at the door.
...
Thinking that he had said that his grandpa was fine, Christopher frowned. Now he was here, and thus his acts belied his words.
Therefore he said, "Don’t tell her I’m here. Also, don’t let her know about grandpa’s current situation."
Then he hurriedly hid behind the door.
Nanny Daisy nodded, and then opened the door.
"Ms. Gladwell."
Janice nodded when she saw Nanny Daisy.
"How is grandpa? Can I go in and see him?" asked Janice.
Nanny Daisy said, "He just fell asleep. Now’s not the best time."
"I won’t disturb him. I just want to take a look," said Janice.
Nanny Daisy awkwardly answered, "Ms. Gladwell, you’d better not. Please don’t make things difficult for me."
Janice sank deeper into depression when she heard this.
She knew that he didn’t want to see her, so she pursed her lips and said, "OK, I’ll come back tomorrow."
Then she slowly left.
After she left, Christopher came out from behind the door. He stared at her lonely figure with a deep frown.
Janice returned to the car, feeling extremely depressed.
<As expected, he doesn’t want to see me.
It seems that things are more serious than I have imagined.
What should I do?
I don’t know what to do.>
She closed her eyes tiredly. Later, just as she was prepared to start the car, she suddenly saw a black-colored Bentley that was parked not far away.
<Isn’t that... Christopher’s car?
Is he inside now?>
When she thought of that, she quickly opened the car door and was about to come back. However, she thought of what Nanny Daisy had just said and then gave up.
<Forget it, what am I going to do when I get back? He might not know that I’m here.
Besides, I’ve already been rejected.>
Thinking of this, she bit her lip sadly and drove the car away.
Just as she left, Christopher hurriedly got out of the house, got in his car, and followed her.
Janice drove directly back to the villa. As expected, Christopher was not at home. <It turns out that I guessed correctly. He really was over there.>
She sighed, and was about to go upstairs. Suddenly, Christopher opened the door and walked in.
When Janice saw him entering, she remembered the car she had seen outside the villa of the Allson family. She then went up and asked, "Hubby, where have you been?"
Christopher paused and said, "Of course the company. Why do you ask?" He felt inexplicably guilty. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Janice’s gaze gradually tightened, but she quickly looked away and said, "Well, nothing. I thought you had gone to visit your grandpa."
"Don’t worry. He is fine," said Christopher.
"Really?" Janice lowered her gaze, and couldn’t help feeling sorrow.
"By the way, where did you go this morning?" Christopher changed the topic.
After a brief pause, Janice recontroled her emotions and replied, "I didn’t go anywhere. I was planning to find a laundry to wash the clothes, but no one was willing to take it."
"Really? Then I’ll ask Rob to call and ask."
With that, he walked aside to make a phone call.
Janice felt some discomfort in her heart as she watched Christopher leave.
<He was obviously at his grandpa’s house just now, but he denies it. Why is he lying to me?
Could it be that he’s blaming me as well?>
Thinking of this, Janice felt even worse.
She walked upstairs. Then she went into the bathroom.
...
She stood in front of the bathroom mirror and looked at herself from it, feeling more and more upset.
"Why did he lie to me?"
However, she couldn’t help but recall what Sophie had said to her. "Guess what’s going to happen to you now?"
Janice wondered what it was.
Countless possibilities popped up in her mind.
<Old Mr. Allson would hate me and blame me; Christopher would be disappointed in me; and Sophie would laugh at me... >
In an instant, many scenarios flashed through her mind. She felt like her head was going to explode.
"No." She didn’t want to think about it.
However, their voices continued to echo endlessly in her brain like a demonic curse.
"No, I don’t want to listen." She cried and ran out, covering her ears with both hands.
She bumped into Christopher who had just walked in.
She looked at him in a daze and hurriedly reached out to hug him, burying her head in his arms.
Christopher was stunned by her sudden behavior.
He didn’t understand what she was suddenly behaving like this.
After a long while, he reached out to stroke her back and asked softly, "What’s wrong?"
Janice didn’t reply. Instead, she hugged him tightly.
Gradually, Christopher felt that something was wrong with her mood, then he remembered the lonely figure of her when she left the Allsons’ villa. After a pause, he comforted, "Are you worried about the clothes? In fact, it doesn’t matter if you can’t find a laundry. I’ll just tell grandpa later."
However, his comforting words provoked Janice again. She immediately withdrew from his embrace, her eyes full of panic.
"No, don’t plead with him. I will find it," she said in a panic.
Christopher was confused. He didn’t know what the anxiety in her eyes was for. He didn’t think that there was anything wrong with what he said.
However, her reaction was so strange.
When Janice met his gaze, she gradually felt defeated. She didn’t dare to look straight into his eyes, because he could see through her worries.
She quickly looked away, walked past him, and went downstairs in a hurry.
Christopher paused for a moment and quickly chased after her.
Then he saw her carrying the bag of clothes and trying to go out again. He quickly went up and asked, "Where are you going?"
Janice replied, "I’ll continue searching."
She walked towards the door with her bag of clothes.
Christopher stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and stopped her.
"Stop. You’ve been searching the whole morning."
"So? Should I give up if I can’t find one?" Janice questioned him while staring into his eyes.
Christopher was shocked by her determination. He didn’t know why she was suddenly in such high spirits.
Seeing that he did not reply, Janice forcefully prisedpraised his hand and continued, "I won’t give up."
Then she turned to open the door, and walked out.
Christopher stood there in a daze for a moment and then followed her out. He caught up with her with large strides, grabbed the door of the car, and said, "If you insist, I’ll go with you."
Then, without waiting for her consent, he went around the car, opened the door of the passenger seat and got in.
Janice wasn’t in the mood to drive him out now, so she let him in.
She started the car and scanned her phone from time to time along the way.
