Chapter 246: He’s Willing To Replace Anna To Suffer This
Janice smiled guiltily. She then pulled Rob to the side and whispered, "Could you please keep this a secret? He doesn’t know that I’m here."
Rob froze and said awkwardly, "This..."
"I know you don’t want him to worry. I’ll go back in two days. I’ll tell him myself.
Please." Janice implored.
Rob paused and frowned. Later he said, "Alright, then I won’t talk to Mr. Bateman for now. However, it’s best if you go back as soon as possible."
Janice was grateful. "I will. I will return as soon as possible."
Hearing this, Rob nodded. He looked over at Joey who was standing by. Later, he stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder, then left.
After Rob left, Joey slowly turned to look at his departing back, and a complicated expression appeared in his eyes.
Soon, the door of the emergency room opened, and a doctor in a white overall came out.
Joey hurried to greet him. "Doctor, how is the child?"
The doctor glanced at him and said, "Fortunately, we prepared in time. Otherwise, the child would have been in danger."
"What about now? How is she now?" Joey asked anxiously.
The doctor said, "It’s hard to say now. Her fever won’t be reduced in a short time. She can’t really get out of danger until her body temperature returns to normal."
After saying that, the doctor walked past him and left.
Joey stumbled and nearly fell.
"It’s all my fault. If only I had listened to you earlier." As he said, he held his head in his hands.
Janice didn’t know how to comfort others. After a brief hesitation, she went up and said, "Don’t say that. No one can guess what will happen."

After that, Anna stayed in the observation room which is a sterile environment.

Janice and Yvonne accompanied him there.
It was late at night when Anna’s fever is finally gone. Then she was sent to the general ward.
Joey glanced at Anna who was sleeping soundly on the bed. He paused for a moment, then turned to Janice and Yvonne and said, "Thank you. Anna is out of danger now. You should find a place to rest first. I’ll be fine here alone."
After a disturbed night, Janice was tired. In addition, she was pregnant now so she didn’t insist on staying. Thus she comforted Joey a little and then left with Yvonne.
The next morning, Janice went to the hospital with breakfast.
When she entered the ward, Anna had already woken up, but she was still lethargic.
It seemed that she was not fully recovered yet.
"Eat something." She placed the breakfast on the table.
Joey looked at the breakfast that she handed over for a while. Then he took it but just put it aside without opening it. He glanced at Anna who was motionlessly lying on the bed, and said, "Can you come out for a moment?"
Janice nodded and followed him out.
In the corridor, Joey stood there and glanced at Janice who had just walked out of the ward. He hesitated for a moment and then said, "I am very grateful for your help. If it weren’t for you guys, I don’t know what would have happened to Anna. On behalf of Anna, I sincerely thank you."
After saying that, he bowed deeply to her.

Rob’s voice came from behind.
Only then did Janice stop and turn around.
"Ms. Gladwell, are you planning to go back today?" Rob asked.
Janice blanked for a moment before remembering that she promised Rob last night that she would return earlier. But she didn’t mean it.
Thus, she said, "I still have something to do. I’ll be back once I’m done."
Rob frowned. "Ms. Gladwell, if there’s anything you need to do, you can leave it to me."
"No, I’ll do it myself. My friend is still waiting for me in the room. I’ll go upstairs first." After that, she hurried inside.
Rob felt somewhat helpless as he watched her hurriedly leave. When he was about to leave, Janice suddenly returned. "Wait." "Does Joey know you?"
Rob paused for a while and nodded.

Joey paused for a moment, then reached out his finger and hooked it.

Joey looked at the smile on her face, and his heart filled with unspeakable guilt.
He could not remember how many times he had lied to her like that.
