Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 82: I’m Very Concerned
"Morning."
"Morning."
Christopher poked his head out. "Breakfast will be ready soon."
"Yes."
Janice drank a glass of water and by the time she returned to the dining table, breakfast was already served.
"By the way, did you carry me back to the room last night? I don’t remember anything."
Janice asked as she ate her breakfast.
Christopher couldn’t help but glare at her. "Don’t work overtime in the future. You fell asleep even when you were so hungry last night."
Janice smiled. "I was just a little sleepy."
"As I said before, consider changing jobs. If you really like writing, you can consider writing magazine articles instead."
He didn’t want to interfere in her work, but his heart ached when he saw how tired she was last night.
Janice scratched her hair and said, "I’ll think about it."
Just as Christopher was about to say something, Janice’s phone rang. She picked it up.
Christopher had no choice but to swallow his words and wait for her to finish her call.
He did not know what the other party had said but Janice stood up immediately. "What? Okay, I got it."
Seeing that her expression was a little serious, he sensed something had happened. He asked, "What’s wrong?"
Janice looked at Christopher and didn’t know what to say. Her colleague, Lucy, had called just now and said that her reporter’s credentials had been revoked.
However, before she found out the reason, she didn’t want Christopher to worry.
Therefore, she said, "I have something to do at work. I have to go there now."
"Don’t worry, I’ll bring you."
Christopher didn’t ask much and picked up his jacket.
On the way, Janice did not look very happy.
Christopher wanted to ask more, but when he saw her looking out of the window, he
stopped himself.
His car stopped at the entrance of the TV station, and Christopher comforted her. "Janice, no matter what happens, don’t worry. Call me at any time, okay?"
Janice nodded and turned to walk in. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Janice rushed to the department, and Lucy greeted her.
"Janice, don’t worry. Ask the chief what’s going on."
Janice nodded and walked in.
"Chief, what’s the matter with my credentials?"
Janice couldn’t help but ask.
"Janice, calm down first."
Seeing her so anxious, Chief Gray comforted her.
Janice said in her heart, <How can she calm down? It’s a serious matter. Her reporter’s credentials were revoked, that means that she can’t hold any reporting job in the next five years. It’s fatal for a professional reporter.>
"Chief, tell me the truth. What did I do wrong? Why did my reporter’s credentials get canceled for no reason? Unless you can give me a reasonable explanation, I won’t agree."
"Janice, this is a notice from the bureau. I know that this punishment has wronged you, but there is also pressure on the station. I hope you can understand." Chief Gray said helplessly.
"How can I understand? I don’t even know what I did wrong. " Janice said angrily.
Chief Gray sighed and said earnestly, "Janice, though we strive for facts, sometimes not everything is black or white. This time, I know that you have been wronged. Why not you pick some other position, and I will try my best to fight for you."
...
After hearing his words, Janice finally understood that it had been settled. She said, "I won’t go anywhere before I figure this out."
As soon as she finished speaking, she stormed out.
Chief Gray looked at her leave and sighed helplessly.
The more Janice thought about it, the more suspicious she felt. How could the news bureau cancel her credentials for no reason?
Could it be that someone was deliberately against her?
However, she was sure that she had not offended anyone. Who could it be?
Could it be Benjamin?
Janice thought of how angry Benjamin was last night. Did he do this to get back at her?
Nobody can be completely rational when they’re angry.
In the entire TV station, she had no issue with anyone else apart from Benjamin.
With that thought in mind, Janice walked towards Benjamin’s office.
Without even knocking on the door, she pushed it open and went in.
Benjamin was sitting in a chair, looking at the document in his hand and talking. A well-endowed news anchor was standing behind him, rubbing her breasts on Benjamin’s back.
The anchor and Benjamin were shocked by Janice suddenly barging in.
Compared to Benjamin’s surprise, the anchor was a little angry at being disturbed. "Janice Gladwell, you’re getting ruder by the day. Don’t you know to knock before you enter?"
Janice ignored her. "If you didn’t do anything shameful, what are you afraid of?"
"You..." The female anchor blushed and pulled up her blouse, which had been lowered purposely. "You should watch your words."
Janice ignored her and looked directly at Benjamin. "I have something to ask you. Do you want to talk here or..."
She glanced at the female anchor.
Benjamin understood and turned to the female anchor.
"You leave first. I’ll look for you later."
After hearing Benjamin’s words, the female anchor fell silent. She glared at Janice before she walked out.
After the female anchor left, Benjamin stood up and explained, "Janice, don’t get anything wrong. We’re just talking about work."
Janice couldn’t care less, and said directly.
"Benjamin, even if I offended you, you don’t have to take revenge like this, do you? I’m just a small reporter, what did I do to you?"
Benjamin was stunned. The little bit of relief brought by her sudden intrusion instantly froze on his face. "Janice, what are you talking about?"
Janice snorted. "Don’t tell me, you know that my reporter’s credentials were revoked."
Benjamin was puzzled. "What’s going on?"
Seeing his puzzled face, Janice sneered and said, "Benjamin, don’t pretend. Do you pretending to say that you have nothing to do with this?"
Facing Janice’s doubtful eyes, Benjamin’s heart was bleeding.
When he first saw her bickering with the female anchor, he thought that she still felt something for him.
But he didn’t expect that she was here to question him.
"Janice, am I such a petty-minded man in your heart?"
Benjamin looked a little hurt.
"Didn’t you do it?"
Janice turned her head away.
Sadness rose within Benjamin. He clenched his fists and suppressed the pain in his heart.
"Janice, whether you believe it or not, that has nothing to do with me. But don’t worry, I will investigate and give you an explanation as soon as possible."
...
Benjamin resumed a formal tone with a cold expression.
Seeing that he didn’t seem to be lying, Janice felt a little uncertain. Did it really have nothing to do with him?
"I’ll find out if it’s you or not."
After that, she turned around and left his office.
Benjamin stood there, his heart aching so much that he couldn’t breathe.
Last night, her attitude towards him had provoked him deeply.
He thought that although they couldn’t be lovers, they could at least be friends.
However, Janice’s attitude was so resolute that she didn’t even want to stand next to him.
His feelings were so deeply hurt that he couldn’t sleep at all last night.
He recovered a little in the morning, but now she thought of him like this.
Benjamin was so angry that he reached out and swept everything on the table to the ground. The office was in a mess.
After Janice left Benjamin’s office, she calmed down and thought about it carefully.
Even if Benjamin didn’t want to see her, he didn’t have to resort to such a measure.
However, she really didn’t know where the problem was.
Could it be that she had recently reported something that shouldn’t have been exposed?
Thinking of this, Janice quickly recalled all the news she wrote recently, but there seemed to be no clue.
After all, a major event she had reported was almost half a year ago. Even if the other party wanted revenge, they would not have waited till now to take action.
Could it be the incident at Delta two days ago?
But that incident didn’t cause any ripple, right?
Moreover, she had not found out the reason at all. Why would they seek revenge?
The more Janice thought about it, the more she could not figure it out.
Just as she was feeling irritated, her phone rang. It was Christopher calling.
Janice thought back to how he seemed to be quite worried in the morning, so she picked it up.
"Christopher."
She deliberately made her voice sound relaxed.
Christopher asked, "What happened?"
Janice hesitated for a moment and decided not to tell Christopher the truth. She didn’t want Christopher involved.
She said, "It’s nothing. I’ll take care of it myself."
Christopher could tell that she was not telling the truth, but he did not continue to ask.
He comforted Janice for a while, then hung up the phone and called Rob into his office.
"Check it out. Did anything happen to Janice in the TV station?"
Rob replied, "Yes."
After putting away the phone, Janice did not return to her desk, she felt terrible.
In the past, she had never felt such frustration and despair even when there was a difficult piece of news.
But at this moment, she felt utterly powerless.
It was a hot day and Janice had nowhere to go. After thinking for a while, she drove to Yvonne’s hospital.
Yvonne was in the emergency room today, and it was quiet.
Yvonne was shocked when she saw Janice. "Such a rare appearance? You don’t have to work?"
Yvonne offered her a glass of water.
Janice took the water and sipped it, but her eyes turned red.
"What’s wrong?" Yvonne was surprised, she was fine when she came in.
Janice didn’t say anything. When Christopher asked her, she had tried her best to hold back her grievances.
However, when it came to Yvonne, she couldn’t hold it in anymore.
"Yvonne, my reporter’s credentials haven been revoked."
"Huh?" Yvonne was stunned. After all, this was important qualification for a reporter.
Losing them was as a serious deal.
