The scorching days of August are the hottest of the year. It hasn’t rained in Nan’an for several days now, yet the sky doesn’t look clear. The sun shyly hides behind the clouds, reluctant to come out, and the wind seems to protect it, keeping those thin clouds in place without blowing them away.

The humidity in the air has reached over eighty percent. In such high temperatures, stepping out of an air-conditioned room feels like walking into a sauna.

Upon reaching the train station, Lin Junyang went to park the car, while Xiao Xiao, pulling the luggage, hurriedly escorted Xiao Qiuhong into the waiting hall.

The waiting hall was bustling with people. Despite the air conditioning running at full speed, it still felt stuffy inside, but at least it was better than nothing. Xiao Xiao thought to herself that she should have brought a bottle of ice water for her mom when they left home.

An abrupt voice sounded in the waiting hall, prompting Xiao Xiao to look up. She saw a young man in a white T-shirt waving at her from a distance, dragging his luggage along. As she looked over, he smiled and started navigating his large suitcase through the crowd. In his haste, the suitcase occasionally bumped into surrounding people, and he kept apologizing.

Xiao Qiuhong also noticed the boy in the distance and asked Xiao Xiao, "Is that your classmate?"

Xiao Xiao felt an urge to palm her face. Was there still time to tell her mom she didn’t know this person?

"Xiao Xiao, it really is you! Are you here to pick me up?" Ji Lin’s eyes were focused entirely on Xiao Xiao, completely overlooking the suitcase and Xiao Qiuhong beside her.

Xiao Xiao managed to draw out a somewhat warm smile, "Senior Brother Ji, I’m here to see my mom off."

"It’s no trouble. Since Auntie is visiting Nan’an, I ought to see her off," Ji Lin said, reaching for the handle of Xiao Xiao’s suitcase with his free hand.

But before he could touch the suitcase handle, a long, strong hand quickly reached out and took over the suitcase from Xiao Xiao.

"Why are you running around instead of waiting at the seat properly?"

Lin Junyang, with one hand holding the suitcase, casually draped the other over Xiao Xiao’s shoulder, speaking possessively.

"I thought the time was close, and wanted to take Mom to the platform. Is the car parked?

There was no space in the ground-level parking lot, and worried they were running out of time, Lin Junyang let Xiao Xiao and her mom get off first so he could park in the underground lot.

"It’s parked." After saying that, he looked at Xiao Qiuhong, "Aunt Xiao, shall we go? The train is coming."

Then, holding one hand around Xiao Xiao and the other on the suitcase, he headed towards the platform.
