Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Going to College

Mr. Sinclair immediately put down his newspaper and shot up from the sofa.

He quickly went around the coffee table to the entryway, just as Chloe Sinclair was getting out of the car.

When she saw Mr. Sinclair, Chloe paused for a moment and called out, "Dad, what are you doing out here?"

Mr. Sinclair smiled and instructed the butler, "Quick, have the chef make something to eat."

Then, he glanced at Chloe. "You haven’t eaten yet, have you?"

Upon hearing this, the butler hurried into the kitchen, and Chloe followed Mr. Sinclair into the living room.

After the meal, Mr. Sinclair told Chloe to go rest while he went to the office.

Back in her room, Chloe looked at how nothing had changed, and a warmth spread through her heart.

After pouring herself a glass of water, she entered the system.

Half a month ago, her Physics progress had reached ninety-nine percent. But in the two weeks since, it hadn’t budged, no matter how many problems she solved, books she read, or experiments she conducted.

But Chloe wasn’t worried. She entered the system and began a new round of studying.

By the time Chloe exited the system, it was already past midnight.

She glanced at the time, slightly surprised.

Time in the system passed several dozen times slower than in the real world, but when she was truly immersed in her studies, she didn’t feel the time drag on at all.

Chloe took a shower and then glanced at her group chat messages.

She had barely looked at her phone for the past two months, so she had a lot of unread messages on QQ and WeChat.

Chloe scrolled through her contact list, pausing for a moment on Jasper Shaw’s name.

Seeing the message he’d sent, Chloe’s heart skipped a beat, but she finally tapped on it.

Jasper Shaw: [Congratulations.]

Chloe glanced at the timestamp. It was from the day her results were released.

’I must have received so many messages that day that his got buried.’

So, Chloe cautiously replied: [Thank you, Mr. Shaw~]

She finished by sending a very cute bear sticker.

But after waiting for a long time with no reply, a bored Chloe shut off her phone and read *A Minimalist’s Guide to Quantum Mechanics* for a while.

The next day, Chloe woke up early for a run. When she got back, she started packing.

She had received her acceptance letter from Emberfall University a while ago. Classes started at the end of August, preceded by fifteen days of mandatory military training.

And tomorrow was registration day at Emberfall University.

Chloe didn’t have much to pack, so everything fit into a single small suitcase.

Since both Mr. Sinclair and her eldest brother were away on business trips that day, only the driver took her to the airport.

In the car, Chloe messaged her brothers and Mr. Sinclair. Before she knew it, they had arrived at the airport.

Emberfall International Airport

Chloe got off the plane, pushing a small, pink suitcase as she made her way through the crowd.

Even though Chloe wore a hat with a wide brim that hid most of her face, people couldn’t help but turn their heads for a second look.

"Mommy, look, a pwetty lady!"

By the road outside the airport, a small child with a high-pitched, sweet voice raised a chubby little hand, pointing at Chloe’s back.

Hearing this, Chloe turned around to look at the child who had spoken.

The child looked to be about two or three years old, dressed in a yellow chick onesie. When he spoke, he revealed the gaps where his teeth had yet to grow in.

Seeing such an adorable little kid, Chloe’s heart completely melted.

She walked over and squatted down in front of the child.

Before she could say a word, a wave of panicked screams erupted from the crowd as people began to scatter.

"Look out—!"
