Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Gratuitous Donation

Chloe’s eyes turned slightly red, instantly welling up.

But not wanting Jasper Shaw to see that she was upset, she took a breath and did her best to control her expression.

However, no matter how well she concealed it, Jasper saw everything as clear as day.

He was puzzled as to why Chloe had suddenly become so sad, but the sight of her reddened eyes filled him with an indescribable frustration.

He longed to speak, but he knew she didn’t want him to see her this way, so he suppressed the thought.

"What are your plans going forward?"

Jasper tried his best to keep his tone even, his eyes fixed on Chloe’s long, slender fingers.

’His heart stirred.’

’He had a sudden impulse to take her hands in his, to see if they were as soft as he imagined.’

As the thought crossed his mind, Jasper suddenly realized something was off about it.

’When he snapped out of it, he couldn’t help but curse himself for such a vulgar thought.’

Fortunately, Chloe quickly answered his earlier question, pulling Jasper from his stray thoughts.

"The maglev train is just the first application of my research into high-temperature superconductivity. My real goal is to drive the development of the entire scientific community."

After speaking, Chloe subconsciously glanced at Jasper’s expression.

His expression was full of wonder and admiration, without a hint of mockery. He gestured for Chloe to go on.

"Zenthia’s technology isn’t lagging, but genuine talent is scarce. The academicians are aging; they can’t shelter Zenthia from every storm forever. The country’s future must be upheld by new blood."

Just look at the situation now. Talented people either go abroad for advanced studies and never return, or their thinking stagnates, and their research makes no headway.

’Changing the world alone would certainly be difficult, but what about a group of top-tier scientists?’

"It’s like seventy years ago, when everyone said Zenthia didn’t have a single airplane, leading a foreign journalist to mock that ’Zenthia is an eagle without wings.’ But now, Zenthia’s military might is unshakeable. Over these past decades, someone gave Zenthia wings, fitted it with wheels, and dressed it in a waterproof suit!"

"Sixty years ago, everyone said Zenthia couldn’t produce an atomic bomb. Yet, ten years later, a group of scientists built Zenthia’s very first one in the desolate Kharzan Desert."

Chloe continued, "I want to bring our nation to the global forefront."

And in doing so, accelerate the pace of everyday life.

Jasper stared, stunned for a moment, before a smile broke across his face. "How many more surprises do you have in store for me?" he asked.

At his words, Chloe tilted her head, her eyes twinkling. "You’ll discover them all in due time."

With that said, Chloe suddenly thought of something.

"Oh, right. White was having some mechanical problems earlier, so I took it to my second brother’s lab. I hope that’s not an issue?"

’In reality, she had already swapped out White’s entire system. Even if people at the lab wanted to extract any data, they likely wouldn’t even know where to start.’

She was only telling him because she felt that, as the one who had gifted it, Jasper had the right to know.

"White was a small, personal gift for you. I just had the company’s researchers add a few programs on the fly. If our commercial secrets were that easy to steal, they could all pack their bags and find a new line of work."

Hearing Jasper say that with such a serious expression, Chloe suddenly found it rather amusing.

Her eyes twinkling, she stared at Jasper, her dark gaze unwavering.

She decided not to hide it from Jasper. "I replaced White’s system."

"The White of today is an All-Purpose Robot."

"And I intend to give the patent for this technology to the Shaw Group, free of charge."
