From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 244: Harsh Words Chill Even in June
Nathan Trenton froze, his eyes filled with confusion.
For a moment, he thought he had misheard.
"What did you say?"
Joel Quincy frowned. A flicker of disappointment crossed his eyes, his thoughts unreadable.
"Don’t tell me you don’t know how to download Weibo?"
After speaking, he shot Nathan Trenton a surprised glance, which was quickly followed by a flash of disdain.
Nathan Trenton: "..."
Certain he hadn’t misheard, Nathan Trenton nodded helplessly.
"Professor, do you also need me to register an account and follow Chloe for you?"
Having his thoughts read so easily by his eldest disciple, Joel Quincy was momentarily speechless.
He looked quite annoyed, but he muttered, "If I don’t follow your junior, she’s going to be completely snatched away by the entertainment industry."
"What do you mean?"
Nathan Trenton rarely browsed Weibo. He had been working overtime since yesterday and hadn’t even touched his phone.
As a result, he knew nothing about what was happening on Weibo.
And precisely because of this, he earned another scornful look from his professor.
"All you do is research from morning to night. You have none of the energy a young person should have. Look at your junior, she’s already guest-starring on a show."
Nathan Trenton looked at Joel Quincy, whose expression was unchanged but whose tone was laced with jealousy. He found it both amusing and exasperating.
"Professor..."
Before he could finish, Joel Quincy cut him off.
"Remember to download Weibo for me. Oh, and that account thing you mentioned, set one of those up for me too."
"Okay."
Three minutes later, Nathan Trenton handed the phone back, the Weibo account already registered.
"It’s done already?" Joel Quincy asked, finding it a bit hard to believe.
Nathan Trenton: "Yes. I also went ahead and followed Chloe for you."
For the first time, Joel Quincy felt that his quiet, wooden eldest disciple was surprisingly on the ball. He gave a slight nod. Even though his face remained expressionless, Nathan Trenton could tell that Joel Quincy was very pleased.
Amused, he couldn’t help but add, "Chloe is still young. It’s good for her to try new things. She also said it won’t affect her research."
Nathan Trenton didn’t know what Joel Quincy was truly thinking and assumed he was angry about Chloe Sinclair suddenly entering the entertainment industry.
But before he could say more than a few words, he saw Joel Quincy glaring at him.
Nathan Trenton instantly shut his mouth.
"I’m not some old fossil. Chloe Sinclair used to work harder than anyone in the lab. Every day, after finishing her tasks in the research office, she’d go right back to her own experiments. Acting can’t possibly be as tiring as lab work."
Joel Quincy had tried to persuade Chloe Sinclair to put down her work and get more rest before, but while she would agree verbally, she would turn around and dive right back into the lab.
Hearing Joel Quincy’s rant, Nathan Trenton finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"By the way, those... ’haters’ online, how should we deal with them?"
As he spoke, his face was clouded with intense anger. "It’s simply outrageous!"
Nathan Trenton was silent for a moment before giving a wry smile. "What can be done? Weibo doesn’t have a real-name registration system right now. If Chloe were to go after them one by one, it would be a huge drain on her time and resources, and she might not even be able to find out who they are in the end."
Joel Quincy clearly hadn’t considered this.
He looked completely shocked and couldn’t help but exclaim, "So you just let it be? People can just spread whatever rumors they want from behind a screen?"
This time, Nathan Trenton didn’t say anything. A societal problem like this couldn’t be solved by just one or two people.
And so, the two men in the office fell into silence.
"Harsh words can chill a person to the bone."
