From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 246: I Know Who They Are
Chloe Sinclair was holding a glass flask, observing the reaction of a burning iron wire inside. At Eight’s warning, she instinctively glanced out the window.
"There are three groups in total. The first is outside the main gate. They’re the bodyguards Boss Shaw sent for you and have no malicious intent."
"The second group is on the small hill to the south of the lab. They look like paparazzi—five of them, all holding cameras. Their malice level toward you isn’t high, either."
"But the third group... the highest malice level among them is 50. The system hasn’t been able to confirm their true identities, and their online profiles are likely fake. In any case, Host, please be careful."
Upon hearing this, Chloe Sinclair put down the experimental flask. She slowly approached the window and peered down, her gaze sweeping over the small patch of woods outside the lab. She immediately spotted three men in black, secretly hiding in the bushes.
The men were well-hidden. If not for Chloe Sinclair’s exceptional eyesight, coupled with the warning from Eight, she never would have found their hiding spot.
Chloe glanced at them for a moment before looking away.
Then, with a swift tug, she drew the curtains shut.
Chloe quickly returned to her workstation and began reviewing all the surveillance footage from the past few days.
She scanned through the footage incredibly fast. There were ten cameras surrounding the lab, and Chloe, in her ridiculously efficient way, played all ten feeds simultaneously on her computer at the fastest possible speed.
After reviewing all the footage, she concluded that the group must have had professional training.
The lab was surrounded by a fence that should have been difficult to bypass, yet the men lying in wait had vaulted over it with ease.
They had even approached the lab’s entrance during the night.
Fortunately, Chloe’s lab was built like a fortress. More importantly, it was equipped with an automatic facial recognition system. The men gave up only after several failed attempts to get in.
’Master, these people aren’t just anyone. Should we call the police?’
Eight was worried about Chloe’s safety.
It had completely forgotten just how formidable Chloe herself was.
’Mister Policeman will take care of it.’
Chloe knew that Eight had been secretly watching a lot of human TV shows.
After all, ever since Eight had finished watching *Romance in the Rain*, it had been constantly repeating the line, "You’re so cruel, so heartless, so unreasonable!"
"Mister Policeman?" Chloe was amused. "Where did you learn that from?"
Eight replied without a moment’s hesitation. "BabyBus."
Chloe: "..."
Chloe pressed a hand to her forehead in resignation and quickly changed the subject.
"These guys are so familiar with the area. It’s either a robbery or a revenge job."
Eight agreed, but then it realized something was off.
’Logically, if this were just a robbery, they wouldn’t have such a meticulous plan. Besides, their skills are too good for that.’
Chloe nodded. "Smart."
She’d felt something was off from the very beginning.
For instance, if they were just robbers, they’d be after money. But even after discovering they couldn’t get the lab door open, they didn’t give up. They’re still hiding nearby.
That leaves only one possibility: revenge.
Since her rebirth, she had offended plenty of people, but none of them seemed like the type to hire a hitman.
’Could it be Nina Sinclair?’
Chloe paused, then dismissed the possibility. "The Nina Sinclair of today doesn’t have the nerve."
Then, a thought suddenly struck Chloe.
"I know who they are."
