From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 251: Time Can Speak
Dead men tell no tales, but time does.
The tragedies of years past would not be erased by the passage of time.
And when the truth finally comes to light, its impact will be all the more profound.
The thug’s pupils constricted. He suddenly screamed, "You have to be a ghost! You have to be!"
"You’ve come for my life!"
The thug was clearly unhinged. He tried to scramble up from the floor, but the moment he exerted any force, his body felt like it was falling apart. Limp as a boneless creature, he collapsed back to the ground, half-dead.
Out of sheer terror, tears streamed down the man’s face, mixing with the dirt on the floor. It was a disgusting sight.
Chloe Sinclair walked over to the sink and washed the blood from her hands. She suddenly tilted her head and said nonchalantly, "Come on out."
Yet, there was only silence. It was as if she were speaking to thin air.
Chloe Sinclair wasn’t worried. Leaning against the sink, she folded her arms and gazed silently at the space behind a piece of model machinery.
Perhaps realizing they had been discovered, two men stepped out from behind the machinery.
"You saw all that?"
The two men nodded, then, thinking better of it, quickly shook their heads.
"Miss Sinclair, please don’t misunderstand. We mean no harm. We’re here to protect you."
Chloe Sinclair chuckled softly and nodded. "Of course, I know."
Jasper Shaw had been secretly sending people to protect her for nearly half a year.
’Back when I was in high school, these two probably dealt with a lot of my problems behind the scenes.’
’After all, in my past life, people had come looking for trouble almost every day.’
’But in this life, hardly anyone dared to get in my face. In fact, I sometimes caught a look of growing fear in their eyes.’
The two bodyguards hadn’t expected to be found out so quickly. One of them scratched the back of his head, looking a little sheepish.
"It was Mr. Shaw who sent us to protect you. You can call me Sutton, and this is my brother."
Chloe Sinclair nodded, acknowledging their introduction. "Perfect. The research lab is unguarded right now. I’ll have to trouble you to watch over it."
Ordinarily, the two of them would have been reluctant.
But after what had just happened, they instantly felt that guarding the lab was absolutely essential.
However, Sutton hadn’t forgotten his primary duty. "My brother and I can take turns," he said. "But one of us must remain by your side at all times."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t object, giving a slight nod.
Sutton glanced at the three thugs groaning incessantly on the floor, his eyes filled with scorn. "Miss Sinclair, what’s your plan for them?" he asked.
"Watch them. If they dare to move, break one of their legs."
The thugs: ...
They instantly froze, not daring to move a muscle.
The two brothers found it slightly amusing, though they felt not an ounce of sympathy.
"Hmph. If it were up to me, I’d just break their legs."
Sutton snorted coldly, looking at the three thugs on the ground who didn’t even dare to cry out in pain. His eyes were filled with contempt.
’He didn’t know what secrets Miss Sinclair was hiding, but he had no doubt that what she’d done was right.’
Chloe Sinclair glanced back, her eyes imperious. "Forget it. Breaking both of their legs would be too deliberate. In their current state, they’re pretty much done for anyway. Let’s just wait for the police and hand them over."
With that, she turned and walked toward the lab.
Sutton glanced at his brother, unable to hold back his admiration. "Miss Sinclair is incredible."
Sutton replied, "Mm."
’There were probably very few people in the world who could handle a situation like that as calmly as Chloe Sinclair.’
’Normally, an encounter like this should have filled them with suspicion and doubt. Yet, because it was Chloe Sinclair, it all felt perfectly natural.’
