Shawn Styles glanced at Chloe Sinclair, knowing the relationship between the two of them was far from ordinary.

However, he felt there was a subtext to what Jasper Shaw was saying to him.

Especially the way Jasper Shaw had gripped his hand with all his might during their handshake earlier.

When he let go, his right hand was still trembling.

"I noticed Chloe hadn’t been back in a while, so I came over to check on her."

"How about a cup of coffee before you go?"

Jasper Shaw’s head whipped back around instantly. "Okay."

His eyes widened. He suddenly realized Jasper Shaw’s earlier attempt to leave had all been for show; he’d never had any intention of actually leaving.

"Mr. Styles, thank you for today. I’ll treat you to a meal another day."

Shawn Styles nodded, though his heart ached a little.

But his expression remained gentle as he teased, "If you really want to thank me, how about you find some time to give our team members some pointers?"

Chloe Sinclair considered it very seriously before nodding. "If I remember correctly, your tournament schedule is at the end of the year. I’ll make some time to stop by for a few days before then, but I can’t be sure if I’ll be of any help to you."

Shawn Styles had only been speaking offhandedly; he never thought Chloe Sinclair would actually agree.

So when he heard Chloe Sinclair reply in all seriousness, he was too stunned to react at first.

"Great! Are you free tomorrow? I’ll get you the players’ stats."

Chloe Sinclair hummed in agreement. His objective achieved, Shawn Styles said his goodbyes and left cheerfully.

Seeing this, Jasper Shaw felt a sour pang of jealousy.

At the entryway, Chloe Sinclair got out a pair of men’s slippers for Jasper Shaw.

"Do men usually come to your apartment?"

Alarm bells instantly went off in Jasper Shaw’s head.

He suddenly realized he wasn’t the only one drawn to someone as outstanding as Chloe Sinclair.

"Of course."

Chloe Sinclair bent down, slipping into a pair of fluffy bunny slippers. She placed her keys in a small trinket dish, answering without even looking up.

Jasper Shaw froze, his pupils contracting slightly. He never imagined Chloe Sinclair would answer so casually.

For a moment, he didn’t know what to say, feeling only a heavy weight settle in his heart.

"My younger brother sometimes stays the night here after he finishes filming, right before he has to fly all over the country. My eldest and second-eldest brothers have visited too, so I just keep a few extra pairs of slippers."

Chloe Sinclair spoke for a while, and when she noticed Jasper Shaw hadn’t made a sound, she turned her head in confusion, only to see him staring blankly at the plastic slippers in front of him.

"I don’t have many pairs of men’s slippers at home. Do they not fit?"

Chloe Sinclair was a little puzzled. She remembered that Jasper Shaw wore the same shoe size as her eldest brother, so the pair she had taken out today was the one her brother had worn before.

"No."

Jasper Shaw said quickly, a hint of excitement in his voice.

Chloe Sinclair said, "They’re just cheap plastic slippers, five yuan a pair from a street stall. They’re probably not as comfortable as what you have at home. Next time you come over, I’ll get a pair just for you."
