Gacha System in a Game-Like World
Chapter 8: Fate Gacha System
Tony was about to ask the system some questions he had in mind when it appeared in front of him, a sudden influx of information displaying on the screen.
The system appeared instantly as though it had been abruptly cut off initially, and now it was provided the opportunity it had been wishing for.
[Congratulations, Host. The Fate Gacha System has been activated.]
[Would you like to bind the system? {Yes / No}]
Tony stared at the message for a while, placing his right index finger on his lips as if in thought. Then, he looked toward the kitchen.
It didn’t seem as if Sandra would be done with whatever new dish she decided to prepare anytime soon. Hence, he tapped {Yes}.
[ ... ]
After what seemed like five seconds of the system loading his input, a new notification replaced the former.
[Congratulations, Host. The Fate Gacha System has been bound successfully.]
[Host, you have awakened the passive traits:- Gacha Player Body (unique) and Shared Growth (unique)]
[Do you wish to view? {Yes / Maybe Later}]
Tony’s index finger hovered some meters away from the screen.
There was no {No} option, just like the system had displayed when he wanted to bind with it. But isn’t this the same as what he had seen upon awakening the system in the first place?
Tony returned his attention to the hovering screen and read the message one more time.
’Oh, there’s a new passive trait. In that case, {Yes}.’
As soon as he tapped on the {Yes} option, the screen disappeared.
’Huh?’
However, a new set of two screens appeared before he could even question what had happened. Juxtaposed to each other.
Tony’s eyes went to the trait that he thought he was already familiar with. The one he had seen upon awakening the system.
[Shared Growth (Unique):
• 10% of all summon stat growth is transferred to you.
• Summon title is automatically transcribed as subclass for you.
Before Tony could regret reading what he had seen before, a new text appeared under the other two.
• Your summon skills are transferred to you.]
His eyes widened.
’Does that mean I don’t need to worry about not having a skill? Once I begin calling upon my summons, I will automatically be enriched with new skills?’
[Affirmative, Host.]
Once the reply was delivered, the screen bearing the first trait faded off.
Tony sighed in relief. He suspected there was a catch when a skill wasn’t displayed by the Guild’s special mechanism, and now his suspicion has been confirmed.
The only problem now, to him, is the kind of summons he will call upon. Will they be powerful, or will they be useless?
’No, scratch that.’
For all he knew about Gacha, the pulls from it are usually considered cheats in games he played and novels that he had read on Earth. This is more or less proving the doubts he had at first upon transmigration.
He was now living a fantastic life. But not just any kind, but a game-like one.
Tony almost soaked himself in his reverie when the second screen, which carried the other message, began to beep impatiently, turning faint and bright with each sound. He instinctively stretched his hand to grab onto it, worried that Sandra might hear the beeps, but his hands passed through it and they stopped immediately as his attention turned to it.
Looking toward the kitchen once more and seeing that nobody was coming out yet, he sighed in relief.
’She probably won’t be able to hear the sound,’ he mused and turned to the screen.
[Gacha Player Body (Unique):
• Your body grows when your summons grow.]
’Just that? Is that why you almost implicated me?’
Honestly, Tony didn’t think there would be anything wrong with telling Sandra about the system. If she didn’t find out now, when he officially begins his summoning, he wondered what kind of trouble it might create then.
But the truth is, he also didn’t want to tell her. Even though she was loyally acquainted with the previous Tony, it was not him. And if there’s anything he had learned the hard way while on Earth, it was to trust those who are sworn ’loyalties’ in all ramifications.
His dread might not come to pass. But it was best to be careful while he could. As well as enjoy...
’Enjoy what...’
He hit his head to dismiss the dirty thought that wanted to cloud in.
Back to the [Gacha Player Body] trait, ’My body can grow?’ Tony asked, his face wrinkling with confusion mixed with disgust.
[Affirmative, Host. However, there’s a specialty.]
’What’s the specialty?’
[Although the Host’s body grows as the summons grow, the system would respect the growth nature of the host. That is to say, if your summon develops "bulky" muscles, if it will not be compatible with the host, it will automatically be assimilated into his passive being, maintaining the best physical features suitable for the host.]
Tony rubbed his jaw in satisfaction. He had been worried that his body might get visibly disgusted due to that passive trait.
As soon as he saw the trait, the first picture that appeared in his imagination was that of "Mighty Man" from one anime he had watched back on Earth.
Or that of "Titans."
He didn’t know what his summon would comprise yet, but that was not the type of body type he wished for.
There was nothing wrong with them; it was just his preference. He was simply not going to be comfortable having those body types.
If at all he needed improvement in his body’s features, he would prefer that of...
"What is the name of that anime again?" he muttered, tapping his lips in thought. "Sung Ji Woo. I prefer his body type."
It was the best way he could keep his facial features and overall appearance in check and attractive.
Meanwhile, the information the system had provided him with was not what he had in mind for calling it up.
’What is your function?’ he communicated with his mind.
The screen displaying the [Gacha Player Body] trait vanished, replaced with a new one.
[The Fate Gacha System exists to rewrite the fate of the Host, having met the requirement. Host may acquire summons, skills, growth stats, and artifacts through the process known as "Gacha."]
’I see. I can also summon...’
Tony’s thought was interrupted by the new notification that came in.
[All summoned existences are bound by fate and authority and shall remain absolutely loyal to the Host.]
[Due to Host’s cosmic history and anomalous existence, all summoned entities are forcefully elevated to the Legendary Rank.]
Tony’s eyes widened in disbelief.
’What are you telling me, system?’
[You saw right, host.]
’What the fuck. So, I not only awakened a divine class, but I will also be commanding summons in the second most powerful rank there is.’
’And from the messages, if they can be elevated to the Legendary Rank, it also means their growth won’t be nerfed and they can evolve to the highest rank.’
Tony was beginning to be impatient. He wanted to know how to go about his summons. He wanted to see what skills, and general benefits he could gain from his summons.
He almost acted like a kid in the midst of this new information, almost jolting from the bed with a scream of joy that knew no bounds.
But he caught hold of himself at the right time. He was no little kid anymore.
Instead, he closed his eyes and raised his head, face-first, to the ceiling above. Then blinked his brown eyes wide open.
"Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the strongest..." he stated, and added with a whisper.
"...even in this world. Hopefully."
Having bathed himself in the momentary happiness and hope, he returned his gaze to the system.
’Now, show me my status.’
The system vanished.
[ ... ]
With a beep, the translucent purple screen materialized once more.

’What a pathetic stat?’ Tony cursed with the first words that came to his mind.
He had expected his former self was also going to influence his stats; however, the system had maintained those of the previous Tony.
That didn’t mean he didn’t understand why his stats were basically this low, but relatively high considering his inherited personality.
The first and overall reason being that he hasn’t leveled up yet. If he used the words of the guild ranking system, he was still a pathetic "F" rank player.
But then, what about the individual stats?
’[Stamina] is probably highest because the previous Tony engaged in hard labor to make end means, which builds endurance and enriches the body’s constitution. That is before Sandra enrolled in the Guild, and there was a turnover for them.’
The same logic was applied to other stats.
However, what he didn’t expect was for the [Intelligence] to have a fairly high point for a personality like Tony.
Although he hated how pathetic it was, he had expected to see a lower point.
’Maybe because his life had been filled with so much survival experience. I understand that experience teaches practical intelligence even without education.’
Tony scrolled up and down the screen once again before he dismissed the system and lay back on the bed, his face looking up to the ceiling.
His mind drifted into wonders that will never end unless he met each of them, but then, the grumbling of his stomach reminded him that the supervisors had come at the wrong time to snatch his breakfast.
He was evidently hungry.
’What is keeping Sandra?’ he thought and sat upright, about to rise from the bed when a system chime held him back in place.
[You have been given a beginner gift pack. Open or discard it?]
Tony looked toward the kitchen once again.
’Since Sandra isn’t coming out yet, I might as well open it now. Can I even risk discarding it?’
With this thought, Tony commanded the system to open his gift pack.
’Open.’
[Congratulations, Host, you have received; 3 Free Draws; +10 FGP.]
[Activate Draws {Yes / No}]
Tony beamed in smiles as his index finger hovered before the screen.
