The little boy jumped three feet into the air from the pain.

Moonchaser doubled over laughing nearby. She had never expected the boy to be this bold. No one before him had ever dared show such disrespect toward their master.

Hearing her shameless laughter, the boy glared at her through tears and snot.

A moment later, another yelp escaped him as Caelum’s switch sent him scrambling across the mountain again.

By evening, tears still clung to the boy’s face as he shoveled rice into his mouth from a bowl.

The beating from earlier seemed completely forgotten.

Caelum said, "Remember this. Your Dao title is Cloudvault."

The boy pouted.

Moonchaser grinned wickedly.
