Chapter 2165: Kairos

This was the first time he had laid eyes on one in earnest. The man wore the garb of a Grecian male. But he looked more like he was about to walk into a Senate for a meeting in Rome than he looked like he was about to step into a battlefield.

His skin was as black as night, his eyes as starry as a burning blue sun reflected across its blackness. When he walked, it felt like the world itself bent toward him, Runes shifting not with the flow of Formless Creation, but instead elevating, rising, and forming a ceiling no others could break past… Heaven Creation.

He wore sandals, had not a single weapon on him, and strode forward with a head of hair so white it reflected every point of light that touched it until it looked like it gave off its own radiance.

Across his head a crown of thorns laced with olive branch lay. But rather than prickling at his skin and drawing blood, they simply existed as though to say that even such a thing could not touch him at all.

His gaze swept through the region and then his eyes landed on Sylas. A bright, handsome smile spread across his face.

"Well, well, well."

Whether it was The Prince or the Thryskai, both of them instantly became wary, standing up straighter. The Prince's eyes began to dart between the Zeus Clan member and his sister as though he was trying to figure out how best to protect her.

"A descendant managed to make it here. I did not expect something like this."

The Prince and the Thryskai both felt their hearts skip a beat. Was Sylas a descendant of the Zeus Clan? But why did he say it like that?

The Zeus Clan member was just as young as any one of them, and even seemed to be in the D-tier just like they were. Well, the Thryskai was in the C-tier, but she wasn't foolish enough to pretend as though it made a large difference at this point.

Not with the caliber of enemy they were facing here.

"But you are not of my Zeus Clan. Fathomless? How unfortunate. It would have been nice to make a friend. My name is Kairos. Might I ask yours?"

Sylas stared at the man for a long while. Despite the heavy silence, he didn't seem to have any intention of growing awkward. He simply continued smiling and continued staring.

"Sylas Grimblade."

The name carried no weight, no heaviness. It sank into infinity and was left unrecognizable by those around him, but Kairos' smile deepened.

"Is that so. Sylas Grimblade, it is nice to meet you. I assume that we will be enemies, then."

"We are."

Kairos laughed, the striations revealed in his chest writhing with power as he did so, a glistening oil that seemed to coat his skin accentuating every peak and valley.

"Unfortunate, unfortunate. There was an infinitely small chance that someone like yourself would appear on Earth, and even more infinitesimally small than that that you would manage to make it here.

"But I guess that is what happens when you play with the laws of the universe too much. I look forward to seeing if you are my match. But from what I can see—." Kairos' gaze became steely, sparks of golden lightning dancing across him. The balcony he stood upon shook, cracks appearing across its surface. "—You are not."

"There does not exist a soul that I am not superior to."

These words were Sylas' only response, and then he directly ignored Kairos. He didn't even look toward the Prince, and following his glance to the Thryskai, he hadn't looked at her again either.

These people weren't what had stirred him up. He was a bit surprised by the fact the Thryskai was not a Demon and that the Zeus Clan had gone further back in time than he had thought, but it wasn't their appearance itself that had taken him by surprise.

What had agitated him was something completely different, and if he was correct in his assessment…

His blood began to boil again before he suppressed it. He buried the agitation in his heart, silently sharpened its blade until he was ready to allow it to erupt.

'Not yet.'

For once, Sylas wasn't exactly sure how this would end. And that stoked something within him.

'Show me.'

As though in response to his thoughts, the building shook.

"Hoho," Kairos chuckled, "it seems that it will be just us, then. Good luck everyone. You will need it." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Do not be arrogant." The Thryskai growled.

"Thessa, Thessa, my dear Thessa. I see that you stalled your breakthrough until you entered. You may have gone a little too early, though. But tell you what, if you become my wife, I will help you along like Sylas here seems to be helping his."

"Watch your mouth or I will rip your tongue out myself." The Prince said coldly.

"Oh? Just my tongue, my Prince?" Kairos laughed uproariously, but the lightning that had been around him before were nowhere to be seen. "Not my head? Not my balls? That doesn't seem like an appropriate response if I really am insulting your sister. I happen to think that Sylas is quite the man of character, would you not like him to be your brother-in-law?"

The Prince's eyes flashed red, a spear of obsidian appearing in his palms. He pointed it toward Kairos without a care for the beam of black.

"You will be the first I kill."

Kairos held his hands up and then he looked toward Sylas and gave him a wink.

"I'm not the one who secretly took your sister as a wife. Why are you so mad at me?"

The Duchess' eyes began to dart around in a panic. This was bad, very bad. She didn't want her brother to find out like this.

The Prince raised a foot to the balcony railing again, about to shoot forward.

"Brother!" The Duchess called out.

The balconies shook again and then suddenly shot upward.

Down below, the stone followed them.
