Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 1163: Tsunami

As the final day of the event arrived, the sky darkened as three figures descended from the clouds…

Each of them wore a noble-like armor with cloaks, and swords tied on their belts.

They seemed just like any other noble figures, but their crimson eyes were glowing with ancient power.

They were the Three Vampire Lords, each resembling noble counts from a bygone era, their presence alone enough to chill the battlefield.

Beside them, three other winged figures hovered.

They were the Dragonkin Elders. At this point, they had no idea why they were gathered here together to deal with a single shelter but the mysterious phenomenon or system brought them here…

They could only cooperate…

"Mhmm… Not bad, day walkers…" One of the Dragonkin Elders muttered.

Their scales were filled with mana, and they seemed to be trying to intimidate even the Vampire Lords.

Still, unlike the lesser dragonoids, these were commanders, veterans of countless battles, their bloodlines tied directly to the Flood Dragons themselves.

Together, they surveyed the battlefield below.

The wave was immense.

Zombies surged in endless numbers, led by their kings: Spitter Kings spewing corrosive bile, Juggernaut Kings towering with brute strength, Fire Kings wreathed in flames, and advanced-tier zombies like Hunters, Lickers, Lurkers, Butchers, and Stalkers could also be seen everywhere.

Behind them, the Vampire army marched in disciplined ranks.

There were Thralls at the front, Low‑Tier Vampires behind them, Vampire Knights in blackened armor, and a handful of Elder Vampires, who were the commanders on the battlefield.

Finally, the Dragon Army roared from above and below…

Wyverns were circling like vultures, Salamanders crawling with fire breath, Dragonoids marching in formation, and at the center, a massive Flood Dragon could be seen!

Rooaarrr!

This Flood Dragon was a huge surprise for the Draconic Fort as well!

Nonetheless, they could only defend with everything they've got.

Meanwhile, the three Vampire Lords hovered together and couldn't help but discuss their plan.

This was the last day they could stay in this realm. They have to make it worth it!

"Look at them," one sneered with his fangs glinting.

"The zombies march without hesitation. They do not care for traps, bullets, or cannons. They will throw themselves into fire if commanded. What a perfect cannon fodder…"

Another Lord chuckled darkly. "Yes, that is their purpose. To waste their projectiles… Let them absorb the mechs' firepower, the soldiers' blades, the elves' arrows. When the defenders are exhausted, our soldiers will be in a better position."

The third Lord's tone was colder, more calculating.

"Yes. The zombies are instinct‑driven. They will advance even if a wall of fire consumes them. Unlike us, they do not think. They do not feel any fear. Maybe in an hour or two, they will drown the fortress in bodies… That will be perfect for us…"

Then, the Dragonkin Elders joined the conversation…

"It's that the zombies are useful," one growled. "They will break the traps. They will trigger the mines. They will clog the cannons with their corpses. And when the machines are slowed, our wyverns will descend. But they cannot kill the Elves! The elves must be captured alive! Do not kill them!"

The three Vampire Lords nodded. They also wanted to obtain the precious blood of the Elves but they didn't dare to ignore the request of the Dragonkin.

Another Elder spoke…

"We just needed three Elves, but getting all of them is better."

The Vampire Lords then expressed their plan to just give up on the Elves and allowed the Dragonkin to have them all.

"But the fortress has those mechanical golems. I hope you can all deal with those things. Our army will have a hard time dealing with these bloodless beings…"

Indeed, this was one of the biggest concerns of the Vampire Lords!

The Warden Units and the Mech Frames had no blood that they could manipulate.

"Do not worry… It seems that these golems cannot fight forever. Someone's controlling them from the inside. They will tire easily… Once the zombies have softened the defenses, our Salamanders will burn the walls, our Dragonoids will breach the gates."

The third Elder, with scales that seemed like obsidian, spoke with certainty. "And the Flood Dragon will crush their morale. Even their elves cannot purify such vast corruption."

The Vampire Lords nodded… They were all excited since they knew that once they succeeded, they would be able to receive a reward before returning to their respective realms.

"Then it is decided," one said.

"Yes," another agreed. "Let the cannon fodder die first. Their sacrifice will pave the way for our victory."

The Dragonkin Elders spread their wings as their voices echoed across the battlefield.

Just like that, a command to advance was given…

The wyverns will strike from above to harass the defenders, forcing them to split their focus.

The Salamanders will burn their barricades.

The Dragonoids will march in disciplined ranks, crushing their soldiers in melee. And when the time is right, the Flood Dragon will unleash its fury…

The Vampire Lords smirked… Their plans were a lot simpler.

They just had to focus on weakening the Barrier…

Once that happened, the three of them would enter the Fortress at the same time…

"We shall descend upon their leaders. We just have to keep their strongest busy with our attacks.

Together, the six commanders, three Vampire Lords, and three Dragonkin Elders finalized their plan.

"What a simple plan…" Mystra muttered as she heard their conversation even from afar.

"So what happened?" Shane asked while looking at the elf.

They had already noticed the presence of the six powerful figures, and needless to say, Shane knew that he had to know what they were planning.

After all, he couldn't repeat the same mistake.

Nika was killed due to carelessness…

They had suffered heavy casualties over the past few days as well. On this final day, they were expecting more deaths.

However, even if many of them died, they must pay a heavy price for that.

"Shane… Their plan isn't anything grand…" Mystra explained.

Apparently, it was quite straightforward. Zombies would surge forward since they're mindless and unstoppable. They would help break traps and absorb firepower.

Then, Wyverns and Salamanders would strike while the Dragonoids advance. At the same time, the Flood Dragon would help destroy the barrier…

After that, Vampire Knights and Elder Vampires join, coordinated strikes against weakened defenders… They won't be dealing with the Warden and the Trident Mechs.

Finally, the Vampire Lords and Dragonkin Elders would descend, in hopes of crushing the fortress leadership…

"Mhmm… I guess that their limit, huh… If that is all their forces, this siege may take a whole day, but we should be fine…" Shane muttered as he looked at Tundra, who looked really tired…

Tundra hadn't slept over the past few days, focusing on creating bombs after all.

Soon, the armies below stirred, sensing the command of their masters.

The siege had finally begun!

Zombies roared mindlessly as they waited for a specific signal... Then, vampires hissed as they waited behind the Zombies...

Meanwhile, the Wyverns seemed to be preparing a heavy assault.

"Hahaha! Kill!"

The Vampire Lords raised their hands, with crimson energy swirling around them.

"Forward, cannon fodder! Drown them in your corpses!"

The Dragonkin Elders also issued their command… "Advance, children of the dragon! Burn their walls, break their machines!"

The battlefield trembled as the wave began to move.

Zombies surged first, with their kings behind the charge.

Fwoosh~ Fwoosh~

Spitter Kings spewed acid across the ground, Juggernaut Kings threw rocks while the Fire Kings ignited the battlefield!

At the same time, the advanced-tier zombies leapt, crawled, and slithered toward the fortress…

They seemed unstoppable, but soon, the numerous bombs prepared were detonated!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The series of explosions created a huge commotion…

Behind them, vampires stopped as they couldn't get away from the explosions!

They were waiting… Waiting for the end of the explosions since they knew that they had a limit!

Over the past few days, they have used an innumerable number of explosives already. There was simply no way that they still had that many.

As expected, after about 30 minutes of explosives from Explosive Fire Bombs, Silenced Concussive Boms, Graviton Imploder, Cryo-Stasis Charge, and Corrosive Venom Bombs, it finally stopped.

During this time, thousands of Zombies were eliminated…

However, the Vampire Lords and the Dragonkin Elders didn't care!

***

"I've done my part! Do yours!"

After Tundra's might was shown for 30 minutes, the explosions finally ceased… He just wanted to rest now!

For a moment, there was some silence, ensuring that no more bombs would come…

Then the ground shook as five colossal Trident Mechs emerged from the fortress gates!

Their steel frames terrified the Vampires as their blood magic was useless against them!

At the same time, the defenders roared as they couldn't help but celebrate their presence.

But at this time, the Flood Dragon released a deafening roar!

It unleashed its fury as it created a catastrophic tsunami.

A wall of corrupted water rose, crashing forward to drown the mechs and shatter the fortress defenses!
