Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan
Chapter 313 - 17: A Visit from the Blood Hunters, a Wondrous Misunderstanding
’What on earth did he misunderstand?’
Of course, from the captain’s words, the trio was able to glean one key piece of information.
Namely, that the Adams Empire clearly had its own internal factional strife.
It seemed that besides the Blood Hunters, there must be other departments within the Empire researching different forms of Power.
Otherwise, he never would have come to such a mistaken conclusion.
Faced with this realization, He’an and the other two exchanged a look, their eyes revealing a trace of surprise and amusement.
’Oh well.
Since this misunderstanding arose by chance, we might as well let it continue.’
After all, spreading the faith was the most important thing.
If any trouble really started, they could deal with it after at least eighty or ninety percent of the Commoners in this small city were converted.
Besides, it was always better to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Although He’an was a Tier Three and powerful enough not to fear the Blood Hunters in this small city, it was best to avoid unnecessary conflict whenever possible.
Therefore, in response to Captain Abi, He’an gave a faint smile and said:
"It seems you’ve misunderstood something, sir."
"But that’s not important. After all, we truly have no intention of causing any trouble."
"How about this? If the three of you remain unconvinced, perhaps you’d like to come into the Church and allow me to properly explain the doctrines of our Dragon God Sect?"
"..."
Time passed without notice. Soon, just as the Sun began to set, Abi and the other two finally walked out of the Church.
It was only after the three of them had walked for some distance in a daze that Abi looked down at the baskets of eggs he and his two team members were holding. He finally snapped out of it and said with a resigned sigh:
"So, did we come here to warn those people, or to get free eggs?"
The dazed young man and woman looked at their captain.
The young man spoke, his expression strange.
"I guess we came for the eggs."
"But, Captain, that Dragon God Church is really creepy!"
"Especially that Bishop named He’an. Whenever he speaks, you just get this inexplicable feeling of peace. I couldn’t even help but feel the urge to get closer to him."
"This... Captain, do you think that counts as some kind of hypnotic Ability?"
As soon as the young man finished, the young woman immediately chimed in:
"Yeah, it was so strange. We actually ended up staying in that little chapel of the Dragon God Church for the entire afternoon."
"Now I can’t get that Bishop’s smile out of my head. And all those doctrines about the Dragon God’s mercy... all that talk about how spreading the faith will bring about more Miracles of Descent and save our suffering world."
"Captain, are those three really experimental subjects from the Empire Research Institute? I don’t get that feeling at all. Instead, it seems more like there’s a real deity, like the ’Blood God,’ behind them."
Hearing this, the young man couldn’t help but nod.
Abi was stunned for a moment, but he quickly shook his head.
"A deity like the Blood God? Impossible. There are no such records in the Empire, or even among the Blood Race."
"Those three are obviously just trying to throw us off."
"All right, pull yourselves together. Stop being so paranoid. For now, just have the other rookies keep a close eye on them."
"If all they do is preach, leave them alone. But if they do anything out of line, or make any shady moves, we’ll expel them immediately."
"We’re not qualified to get involved in the power struggles at the top of the Empire, but they can forget about causing trouble in the border cities of the Giant Wall."
"Besides, those three are definitely not to be underestimated. Especially the female Bishop, Helen. I found her to be inexplicably powerful—so much so that even my Blood Bone Weapon was trembling."
"In short, those three are definitely very strong. Don’t provoke them unless it’s absolutely necessary."
"I’ll report this to the Hummingbird Team."
As Abi finished speaking, the other two nodded seriously.
"Right, Captain. We understand."
