Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan
Chapter 375 - 41: The Starry Gods Prepare, the Giant Serpent God Turns the Tables
Brother Cheng Takes Off couldn’t care less about saving face, and his words were always brutally direct.
This, naturally, displeased most of the Deities.
Only a few Deities who knew Brother Cheng Takes Off’s true character, like the God of Truth, were awestruck by his willingness to play the villain.
’He’s playing the part of the villain.’
’Impressive, truly impressive.’
It had to be said that even Logical Genius and the others couldn’t help but admire Brother Cheng Takes Off’s audacity.
"What choice do I have but to be the villain?"
"There are only a few of us, and only one Medium Divine Power. When facing these old-timers who’ve already died once, a few threats are necessary to get things done. After all, we’re not the Chief."
Brother Cheng Takes Off said with a nonchalant shrug to his allies.
"If you want the job done right, you have to use the necessary means."
"How much is saving face worth, anyway?"
"Besides, even if someone can’t stand me, what’s the worst they can do? Beat me up? What else?"
"And even if they wanted to beat me up, they’d have to think long and hard about the consequences of offending me. After all, villains are a pain to deal with."
"I figure in their eyes, I’m no different from one of those eunuchs who serve the Emperor in the palace."
"Pfft, so you’re self-aware!" Sweet Little Cookie couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
"Eunuch Li? Haha, you know, you really did look the part just now," Not the Tea Monarch also chimed in with a laugh.
"..."
And so, amidst the lighthearted teasing, the Deities soon began to mobilize.
However, the Deities’ gathering point had changed this time.
It was not in the Star Realm of the Karte Continent, but in the Star Realm of the Crimson World.
The reason was simple: due to the unique properties of the Crimson World’s Crystal Wall, they had no fear of their home base being discovered. In fact, it even gave them the opportunity to trap their enemies, like cornering a dog before beating it. That was all.
This time was different from the last.
Last time, the entire Star Empire had only seventy-seven Deities.
But now, the number of Deities in the Star Empire had successfully surpassed one hundred.
Counting the Thirteen Blood Ancestors,
as well as the New Gods who had achieved Ascension to Divinity and the revived Old Gods, the Star Empire’s ranks of Deities now exceeded one hundred.
Not to mention, there were seven Main Gods among them.
However, the five Main Gods of the Crimson World, who were also the first five Blood Ancestors, would not be mobilized.
The Mana Will of the Crimson World currently needed them to assist the True Game in its accelerated encroachment.
But even if these five Main God Level Blood Gods could not be deployed,
the remaining eight High Divine Power Blood Gods would be.
And so, in the Star Realm of the Crimson World, nearly a hundred Deities soon formed ranks before a Star Gate several kilometers in diameter, fully prepared.
They were just waiting for the moment the Star Gate would open.
The Deities waited in silence while numerous Starships in the surrounding Star Sea also made their own preparations.
For a moment, the entire Star Sea seemed to fall silent.
Finally.
"It’s opening!!!"
The moment the True Game prompt appeared and Brother Cheng Takes Off cried out,
the Deities prepared to act.
But!
"HISSS~"
Suddenly, an incredibly hoarse and terrifying sound emanated from the Star Gate, one that assaulted the Deities’ very Spiritual essence.
"Fall back!!!"
"Fucking hell, I knew it! I knew it wouldn’t be this simple!"
Brother Cheng Takes Off swore loudly as he rapidly retreated.
The operation was supposedly to awaken the Giant Serpent God, but the Deities had long considered the possibility that it might have been awake the entire time!
They had even considered the possibility of being attacked the instant the Star Gate fully opened.
But that was just the worst-case scenario.
Who knew that the worst-case scenario would actually come to pass!
And this meant that there was absolutely nothing the Deities could do this time!
How could they possibly deal with a creature this terrifying?
As the Deities fell back, they even saw the Star Gate begin to collapse!
But the collapsing Star Gate didn’t simply vanish.
Instead, where the Star Gate had been, Space itself began to fracture.
The turbulence and storms of Subspace erupted and siphoned chaotically into the material world.
In the chaos, three unlucky New Gods, who had only recently achieved Ascension to Divinity and lacked sufficient strength, were caught off guard. Stunned and immobilized by the terrifying roar, they were sucked into the Subspace turbulence and vanished completely!
It wasn’t that they were dead,
but their situation was certainly not much better.
Seeing this, the Deities were obviously in a foul mood.
After all, losing three Deities before the mission had even properly begun was a great loss of face.
But the reality of the situation gave them no time to dwell on it.
Because in the next moment, a terrifying, pitch-black head extended out from the collapsing Subspace turbulence.
Its head was like a primeval, solitary mountain peak, looming high in the boundless darkness.
Its pair of giant eyes were like two dried, collapsed planetary cores, churning with unfathomable, dark whirlpools.
As its eyelids opened and closed, it was as if a pitch-black abyss had opened its cold, deathly-still eyes.
Beneath its eyes, an abyssal mouth slowly gaped open, as bottomless as an ancient trap of pure void.
Its maw was lined with fangs like mountain ranges, each one seemingly embedded with the sharp edges of shattered stars. A cold light flowed between the jagged, inverted teeth, their sharpness threatening to slice open space-time itself.
Viscous, dark-green venom drooled like a river of light, winding down from between its teeth and corroding the surrounding Space, causing it to flake away like a decaying mural.
The mere sight of this terrifying creature
sent a chill down the spines of even the Deities who had previously witnessed the existence of Lince.
Such a terrifying existence reminded the Deities from the Oakland World of the Black Flame World, and of the two horrific Black Flame Creatures they had witnessed at the time of their fall.
’This? This is the one they wanted us to wake up?’
At that moment, even the Sea Race Main God couldn’t help but tremble inwardly.
"I believe so. But now it seems this creature will be anything but easy to deal with."
"From here, we can only rely on Your Majesty."
A High Divine Power Deity from the Sea Race had a bitter taste in his mouth.
’Ancient Deities... Ancient Deities...’
’They truly make Deities who were once Lower-Rank Creatures seem so insignificant.’
’In a terrifying Star Sea World like this, it was a miracle of luck that the Oakland Continent had survived for so long.’
’Or perhaps it was because the Star Empire, with the Dragon God and the True Creator, was simply too powerful, and that’s why it kept attracting beings like this?’
