Chapter 679 - 35: Magpie Mountain Temple
Stuck!
Su Changxing’s face turned red as he pushed hard inward. There was still an air wall here, but he discovered it wasn’t completely sealed—there was a gap.
He seemed able to squeeze through this gap.
Push hard, harder, even harder.
He rubbed back and forth between the white pillar and the air wall, leaving a human-shaped black mark on the pillar, but no bloodstains. Any blood that left his body would disappear here.
"Just a bit more, push harder!"
He shouted, using all his strength, even tearing his pants in the process, and finally squeezed through.
When he looked up again, it was no longer the same place.
Golden fallen leaves were scattered on the gray stone path, and in the distance were towering city walls, with a golden-red sun hanging behind the temple.
"This should be the Ninth Dimension." He realized as time began to flow again.
This place seemed no different from the normal world, but it was very clean, with no dust on the ground and completely clear air.
He felt helpless, unsure of what he should be doing.
According to normal procedures, he might receive some guidance, but now he was directly here, completely in the dark.
Since he didn’t know where to go, he might as well walk around aimlessly.
He thought, then turned and headed toward the nearest temple. It was a large temple, towering like a tall tower, layer by layer, with visible incense smoke drifting into the sky.
Before he reached the temple, Su Changxing saw two people walking toward him. Their attire was ancient. One wore white and held a fan, while the other was dressed as a monk, bare-chested with Buddhist beads hanging from his chest.
In another place, people might think they were cosplaying.
Those two were likely both players and Tier Six Extraordinary.
Su Changxing walked up and directly asked, "Excuse me, what is this place?"
Seeing Su Changxing dressed in rags and covered in dirt was not surprising to the two, as people of all kinds were here, including lunatics and madmen.
"You don’t know?" The one in white clothing chuckled lightly.
Su Changxing felt the gaze was unfriendly, but he didn’t care, because he was sure he wasn’t weaker than these two, even if they worked together:
"It’s not that; I just suddenly forgot, so I asked."
The player in white snorted coldly and laughed, "I think you’re a newbie, aren’t you? Don’t you know this place? The famous Magpie Mountain Temple."
"But isn’t your batch of newcomers arriving a bit early? Anyway, it doesn’t matter."
He spread his hand out, "Hand over your stuff."
Su Changxing looked puzzled, "What do you mean? Specifically, what stuff?"
The player in white seemed to have anticipated this and wasn’t angry; he laughed, "The competition here is fierce, and a newbie player like you won’t have it easy surviving. Give me half of your points and Black Coins."
"Ask around, who doesn’t know the name Bai Jieshi? With my protection, others won’t dare to rob you."
This wasn’t the first time he did this, looking very skilled, like an actor whose actions and expressions were a performance.
Su Changxing smiled and calmly said, "What if I don’t give them?"
Bai Jieshi seemed amused by Su Changxing’s words and said fiercely, "If you don’t cooperate, you’ll see what happens. Killing you doesn’t matter. Understand, you’re just a Tier Seven Extraordinary, and we’re both Tier Six."
Su Changxing rubbed his nose with a watching-the-show expression and said, "Alright, I’m not giving it. Start."
The atmosphere suddenly cooled down.
Bai Jieshi and the other player were taken aback, surprised by Su Changxing’s attitude.
He pointed a fan at Su Changxing, his expression pained, "You’re truly ungrateful. I’m helping you."
Su Changxing quietly watched them perform, saying nothing.
This behavior seemed to anger the two players, and they looked ready to make a move on him.
Su Changxing sneered, "Stop pretending. You can’t touch me, can you? Newbie players should be protected here. Otherwise, why would you waste words here?"
Bai Jieshi seemed genuinely angered upon hearing this: "Kid, since you know, why are you pretending? Bad luck."
Even saying this, he still showed no intention of attacking.
The monk-like man next to him laughed and said, "Let’s go. Let’s go. Always greedy for petty gains every day."
"Wait!" Su Changxing shouted.
The two players turned back, looking puzzled, "What’s up?"
Su Changxing licked his lips and smiled, "This can’t just end like this. Shouldn’t you leave something?"
Bai Jieshi felt humiliated at once, a newcomer daring to act tough to him. If this got out, he wouldn’t be able to face others. In a fit of rage, he said, "Seems like a lesson is needed so you’ll know your place."
Meanwhile.
The monk’s eyes became blood-red, looking extremely creepy, "I don’t like fighting; I just like killing people. I really hate this place."
Su Changxing was a bit puzzled, "Can’t harm newbies here, right?"
Bai Jieshi thought Su Changxing was scared and laughed, "But if you provoke first, it’s different. There are many rules here, rookie."
Su Changxing nodded thoughtfully, "Hmm, thanks for the reminder, but I should remind you; it’s best not to get close to me."
Upon hearing this, Bai Jieshi felt furious... Who does this guy think he is, warning him not to get close, well, I will, I will.
Suddenly, a strong wind blew around, and Bai Jieshi charged at him with a bizarre speed, swinging his fan to hit Su Changxing.
Simultaneously.
The red-eyed monk appeared behind him and transformed into four hands, each holding different weapons: a bell, iron hammer, scythe, and a golden ring.
The two cooperated exceptionally well, seemingly old partners, blocking off the surrounding space in an instant.
The strong wind immobilized Su Changxing, while the monk shook the bell, causing sharp pain in his head.
At the moment Bai Jieshi thought he succeeded, Su Changxing’s body turned into a flurry of white feathers, breaking free from their restraints.
Immediately, a chain appeared in the surrounding space, binding them.
Su Changxing appeared to the side, holding a revolver, continuously pulling the trigger at the two.
Facing Su Changxing’s attack, the two could only watch, unable to move, like meat on a chopping board.
This was entirely a power gap. Against Su Changxing’s domain, they couldn’t resist.
The two Tier Six players didn’t even last a round against him and fell to the ground.
"Just you wait; there’s more coming for you." Bai Jieshi, with half his body gone, still blustered, putting on a fierce expression.
In this place, no player truly dies, but resurrection comes with a cost, and the stronger the person, the heavier the cost.
Su Changxing looked on as if watching a good show, staring at him, "Hmm, so you’ll come for revenge later."
"Of course!"
Bai Jieshi wore an elated expression, even he wouldn’t want to bow before a newbie.
The monk beside, with a bullet hole in his chest, laughed, "Old Bai, he doesn’t seem like a newbie. Why don’t we just give in? Dying here isn’t worth it; we finally made a little this time, or we’ll lose it all again."
Bai Jieshi was still unreconciled, "If you want to beg, do it yourself... Kid, go ahead, kill me."
Su Changxing squinted, "Why kill you? You’ll just resurrect."
Bai Jieshi paused, thinking Su Changxing had relented, "If you let me go, we can call it even. We’re both players in the same world, no reason to take it too far."
