Chapter 80: Thoughts on Going VIP
I started writing this book on April 17th, and it’s been a month and a half now.
I’m a complete newbie author. My first attempt, a supernatural story, had the best stats among new releases in its period, but unfortunately, the genre was too niche. I was only getting a few dozen new library adds a day, so I dropped it at 110,000 characters.
After that, I came up with this book, which also falls into a relatively niche category: sci-fi.
A lot of readers have been saying that this book’s stats aren’t great either and that the author might drop it.
In reality, these results are actually very good for the sci-fi category.
It might not be number one, but it’s in the top three for its release period. For a new author to get these kinds of results, I’m honestly very happy.
I’m a college student, so I guess you could say writing this book is my work-study job.
After all, the economy has been bad these past two years. My parents both lost their jobs, one after the other. I can’t just pretend I don’t know what’s going on. I’m nineteen now, and I want to help ease their burden.
But the part-time jobs near campus pay so little—8 or 9 yuan an hour—and you have to fight just to get one.
I’ve always been a novel reader myself, and my roommate suggested I try writing one since you can apparently make money from it. And so, here I am after two attempts.
Honestly, the results are better than I expected, although based on the current situation, the income probably won’t be much.
But, at the very least, I won’t have to ask my parents for living expenses for the next few months after the book goes premium.
Alright, that’s enough of my sob story. Let’s talk about the update schedule.
The book will go premium tomorrow, the 26th, at 12:00 PM.
I plan to release 6,000-8,000 characters’ worth of Chapters. I’m counting on all you big shots for your support. Thank you so much.
Since I have classes and also have to work serving meals in the cafeteria at lunch and dinner, I don’t actually have a lot of time to write.
For now, the plan is to release about 6,000 characters a day. If the book does well after going premium, I might be able to quit my cafeteria job, which would free up more time for updates.
Finally, I want to thank all the handsome gentlemen and beautiful Beauties who have supported me up to this point.
