Chapter 102: Awoken

Roy’s eyes opened gently.

He sat up on his bed and stretched his arms, feeling well-rested and refreshed.

"Ah..." he yawned. ’...That was a nice rest. What time is it?’

He threw his legs over the edge of the bed and felt around for his footwear with his feet, but couldn’t find it, so he stood up barefoot.

Roy had slept on the bunk bed inside the APC, and the middle area of the vehicle dimmed its lights automatically when someone was resting.

Roy found his personal device under the pillow he had rested his head on and checked the time.

20:43.

The day had already drawn to an end, and he had begun his resting shortly after he, Abraham, and Sunfire arrived in the morning.

’I guess I was really tired,’ he thought and checked his messages. Surprisingly, Nana and Donald hadn’t replied to his last messages. However, it was displayed that they had received them.

’Why are they taking their time to reply?’ Roy thought but didn’t dwell on that and threw the question to the back of his mind. ’Oh well, they will reply eventually.’

Roy went to the bathroom and opened his system as he relieved himself, doing nothing but ruminating over his current information.

Coming out of there, he went over to the main hub of the vehicle, where the C-Class Executioner, Black Zero, sat and rewatched clips of his drone as it mapped out the surrounding area outside the bunker and slightly beyond.

"Wolfman is preparing dinner," he spoke up, not even having to turn to acknowledge Roy’s presence. "We will step out when it is ready."

Roy sat down on the front passenger seat and let out a sigh of relief. He wasn’t sure if it was his mentor’s words about dinner or the comfort of the chair that made him make that sound. Either way, they were both welcome.

He nodded his head, feeling too lazy to mouth words.

"It seems your shadow is wary of Sunfire and has decided to stay away," Master Abraham said. He was in a plain black long-sleeve shirt and his tactical trousers.

Roy used his new passive skill, Love Sensor, and confirmed that it was true.

So, he nodded again. "I love the good news. Keep ’em coming."

Abraham looked at him with an unknown expression and counted, "We will be staying here for a while. Your intensive combat and applied math training will continue."

Roy scoffed at this news. He expected Master Abraham to try to deflate his joy. But it was too late.

"Since you were your clone, you know today isn’t a day things like these will bother me. I’m here to train anyway, so I’ll take that as good news."

He wasn’t so immature as to complain about what he asked for.

"...Good."

"Anyway, Master Abe, I earned a few items from my last sign-in. I would like to sell one. No, it’s actually two. I have two of the same item. I want to sell... one. I think I might use the other one," Roy struggled with his words, feeling a bit embarrassed that he was talking about a love letter. He even admitted he would need one at some point.

"Tell me the item’s details."

"The name is Blank Love Letter, a common charm. The feelings expressed when writing in the love letter will be accurately expressed to the reader."

"Reader... is it anyone who reads the letter or just one person?" Master Abraham asked, his tone was plain and placid as usual.

"Uh.." Roy wasn’t sure, so he quickly asked his system.

And it answered.

[Blank Love Letter, Item Description: Put your feelings into words in this letter and hand it to the person in question. What you feel when writing will be accurately expressed to them as they read.]

"Just one person. The person referred to in the letter."

Master Abraham nodded. "How much do you want for it?"

"Hmm..." Roy contemplated, and an idea struck him. "I want the energy crystal of the next strong abyss creature I suffer to kill."

"...Alright," Black Zero agreed.

There was no way to transfer items from one host to another, so Roy materialized the item and forfeited ownership. This action took some energy from him, and the item became a standalone object.

Master Abraham simply folded the letter and put it in one of his tactical trousers’ pockets.

Roy thought for a few seconds and materialized the Magic Hair Spray, "I was going to keep this for a while, but there’s no point. This is an uncommon item. I got two of them too, so I’m giving you one."

He forfeited ownership once again.

Master Abe extended his hand and took hold of it. The rainbow-colored canister was like any other hairspray; there was an image of a music star with a unique pompadour hairstyle, and a boy band with swerving and flowing hair.

"What is this?"

"Magic Hair Spray," Roy explained. "Let me read out the item description: Are you bald? Is your hairline receding? Is your hair lacking lustre and quality? Spray this hair spray on your head and witness the magic. Increases your charm by 80%."

"..."

The C-Class Executioner may have already understood from the pictures on the canister, but Roy confirming and explaining what the item did made a deep shadow hover over his eyes.

"Thank you," he merely said, manifested his Array, and hung it there before letting it dematerialize back into his system space.

Shortly after, Wolfman informed Master Abraham that dinner was ready through the comms.

Both of them found Wolfman wearing an apron above his camouflage military uniform, looking unusually serious as he placed a set of delicacies on a table.

The cafeteria of the bunker wasn’t too large, and the foodstuffs he used to make the meals were provided by Sunfire. It was a special night meant to inaugurate everybody for the survival of the fittest conquest ahead.

The undead horde of the Witherflower will only grow as its minions spread and conquer, and only God knows when the Executioners’ Association will get tired of sending disposable lesser-class executioners and finally send in a big shot.

Roy served himself, and so did Black Zero, and joined Dr. Gretsch, who was already seated.

Lady Sunfire walked in, now in a crop top t-shirt that showed her belly button, and jean shorts. She tied her golden hair into a ponytail and walked leisurely to the single seat at the width of the table after she served herself.

"..."

"..."

There was silence before she arrived, but now all the men were even more silent. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

She ate freely, not even glancing at the others, and so did Black Zero.

Only Dr. Gretsch and Roy shared sheepish glances.

But just then, to most individuals’ shock, most especially Wolfman, Dr. Sally walked into the cafeteria too.

"Good evening, everyone," she greeted, not looking even a day sick.
