Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

Chapter 558: Exit the highway

The giant just stood in the seawater watching them, taking no other action.

Lin Ye released Landy and carefully observed the giant's body. He quickly discovered that it seemed to be a massive stone statue, though its construction material was somewhat different from ordinary stone statues.

But if this thing was really just a stone statue, how could it have suddenly appeared in that location?

Lin Ye couldn't determine the relationship between the giant stone statue and the island either, but he felt the highway on the other side of the gap was highly problematic and had some connection to this area.

"Aren't we going over?"

Landy looked at the highway across the gap. He had thought he would never get back, but now he saw a glimmer of hope. Unlike the previous highway, this one was likely the real exit.

"...I'm not sure. It's possible the other side is the exit, but I think it's more likely a trap. Do you want to go over? I can scout ahead first."

Lin Ye wasn't certain if they should go take a look either. If the other side really was the exit, it meant this abnormal area had many exits. As long as they entered the area at the edge of the bookshelf, they could leave this place.

"...I want to go in and take a look."

Landy said with some excitement.

"Then let's go in."

If he didn't have any Simulation Attempts left, Lin Ye would have been more cautious.

Lin Ye passed through the gap and stood on the highway.

Landy followed Lin Ye through the gap. He was just about to say something when he saw a prison transport vehicle in the distance driving toward them.

The gap behind them had already vanished.

Lin Ye looked at the prison transport. Only the two of them were missing inside; everyone else, including the D-Class personnel, was all present.

"Landy, how did you two just disappear? Report your status!"

The Squad Leader said from inside the prison transport.

"Reporting, we just experienced an abnormal incident. This place is extremely dangerous..."

Landy recounted their previous experiences to the Captain. Seeing familiar faces, his voice was filled with emotion.

While Landy was reporting, Lin Ye carefully observed the details of the prison transport. Landy had touched its surface earlier; the vehicle wasn't just a pattern on cardboard.

Soon, Landy finished his report. The Squad Leader didn't give them a hard time, and Lin Ye returned to the prison transport. The D-Class personnel looked at him with curious eyes.

The prison transport soon arrived at the highway toll booth. They didn't encounter anything strange along the way.

'We really got out? Could this simulation mission be this simple?'

Lin Ye used his finger to touch the things around him. The items in the vehicle weren't cardboard patterns either.

After passing through the toll booth, Lin Ye was still inside the prison transport. The simulation mission had not ended.

'Is it because the abnormal incident hasn't been resolved, or because we haven't actually left the scope of the abnormal incident?'

Lin Ye pulled out the metal wire tucked into his prison garb. If this couldn't end the simulation mission, he might have to restart by committing suicide.

It wasn't difficult. As long as he could pierce the carotid artery, he would soon die from massive blood loss.

Just then, violent gunfire suddenly erupted from the front section of the prison transport.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!

Landy pulled the prison transport over to the side of the road. He opened the prison compartment door and opened fire, killing all the D-Class personnel except Lin Ye.

"I killed them all! These people aren't right! We're still inside the abnormal incident!"

Landy threw a fully loaded Rifle to Lin Ye, shouting excitedly.

"Calm down first. How do you know the abnormal incident hasn't ended?"

Lin Ye caught the Rifle. He took off his prison garb, quickly ran to the front, and changed into the driver's clothes.

"I don't know how to explain it either, but I can just tell they're not right!"

Landy nervously scanned the surroundings with his gun. The prison transport was parked on a deserted side road; there wasn't a single person around.

"Saying that makes it sound like we're the ones with the problem. But I believe you. Where should we go now?"

Lin Ye stripped the equipment from the overseers' corpses and placed it in easily accessible locations. The simulation mission still hadn't ended, which meant the abnormal incident remained unresolved.

"...I want to go home first. What do you think?"

Landy sat in the prison transport's Driver's Seat, and Lin Ye sat behind him.

"Let's go then. I'll cover you."

Lin Ye was already somewhat inclined to abandon this simulation. He planned to go read some more books at that library during the next simulation. Perhaps the method to escape this area was hidden within those books.

But before leaving, Lin Ye decided to accompany Landy on this trip. It wouldn't waste much time anyway.

The prison transport soon entered the city district, and pedestrians on the road gradually increased.

"The organization reacted pretty quickly."

Several vehicles of different models followed behind the prison transport. Lin Ye just glanced through the rearview mirror and spotted those vehicles belonging to the organization.

"They're not organization people. They're some kind of monster pretending to be human."

Landy stopped worrying about traffic rules and began driving recklessly on the road.

"Then you might as well speed up even more. Since they're all monsters transformed, why not run them all over? Maybe if we kill them all, we can get out. Then you can see your real family. Headshot."

Lin Ye calmly looked out the window and casually shot and killed a passing pedestrian.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!"

"Gunfire!"

"What happened?"

"Run!"

...

The pedestrians on the road scattered in panic, and the vehicles ahead made way for the prison transport.

"Why did you shoot! Are you insane!"

Landy turned his head to glare angrily at Lin Ye.

"You said it yourself, these pedestrians are all monsters. So why can't I blow their heads off?"

Lin Ye picked up the Rifle and emptied a magazine at the vehicles of the organization personnel behind them.

Boom!

The bullets hit the fuel tank, causing the vehicle to explode and killing the organization personnel inside.

"...I just feel this isn't quite right."

Landy continued driving, but he began frequently observing the fleeing pedestrians around them.

"If you feel it's not right, you should act more cautiously, not mow down your colleagues with a rifle."

Lin Ye fired shots at the pursuing vehicles from time to time, blowing up several that had followed them.

"...Are you saying I made a mistake? This is the normal world, and I killed my colleagues and Captain?"

Landy vigorously shook his leg, forcibly suppressing the feeling of panic.

"Right. You gunned down your Captain and colleagues. They trusted you, their colleague who suddenly appeared by the roadside, so much that they offered no resistance when you opened fire.

And me, a D-Class personnel, casually killed a bunch of organization members. The organization isn't even willing to call in a sniper to blow my head off. Probably because this is more fun this way."

As he spoke, Lin Ye himself couldn't help but laugh. This was probably the GTA version of the organization's Plane.
