God-Tier Comprehension System
Chapter 2
"Your older brother here just got hold of some inside information, and I’ve finally figured out why the Emperor was so furious during the palace examination that day." Oswin perched himself on the edge of the desk in front of Adam, his face flushed with excitement.
"Oh? Brother, then tell me, why was that?" Adam asked.
Oswin glanced around to make sure no one was within earshot before tucking away his excited expression, his eyes turning grave, he lowered his voice and whispered, "Three days ago, just before the Imperial Preceptor Daoist Reld passed away, he caught a glimpse of the heavenly secrets and declared that the Sixth Heaven and Earth Upheaval is imminent!"
"Brother Oswin, are you saying...!!!" The moment the implication clicked, Adam’s face turned grim in an instant.
Seeing how ugly Adam’s expression had become, Oswin knew he had already grasped the reason behind that day’s incident. He patted Adam’s shoulder and declared with the heroic enthusiasm of a man chasing fortune:
"Hahahaha, Adam, don’t be afraid. Our chance has finally come! With the Sixth Heaven and Earth Upheaval right on the horizon, we two brothers might just be able to soar straight up to the heavens!"
Adam paid no mind to Oswin’s grand aspirations, his mood had already crashed straight to the bottom.
He had thought, originally, that with his official title as a compiler at Inkwood Academy, even with his pitiful fifth level of Qi Condensation, he could quietly drift his way through life in Silver Willow Dynasty without trouble.
But the moment Oswin spoke of the approaching Sixth Heaven and Earth Upheaval, that comforting little fantasy shattered on the spot.
Ever since the earliest historical records had been kept, the world had passed through several great upheavals.
No one knew where they came from, but every single one of them brought sweeping opportunities and birthed an entire generation of earth-shattering powerhouses.
But where there were great opportunities, there were always equally great dangers.
Each time a Heaven and Earth Upheaval descended, it came hand in hand with mountains of corpses and rivers of blood.
The very first Emperor of Silver Willow Dynasty himself had risen from nothing during the Fifth Heaven and Earth Upheaval, eventually leading a rebel army to forge the dynasty.
If this Sixth Heaven and Earth Upheaval was truly going to arrive in the near future as Oswin claimed, then the already shaky Silver Willow would be ripped apart in no time at all.
This wasn’t Adam crying either.
Setting everything else aside, the moment the world began to shift and Silver Willow tumbled into chaos, the eight Kings of Different Surnames would surely raise their banners and rebel.
Those eight Kings had already been showing clear signs of disloyalty for some time.
When the Heaven and Earth Upheaval finally arrived, they would no doubt follow in the footsteps of Silver Willow’s first Emperor.
As the saying went, when the nest is overturned, no egg remains intact.
For a fifth level Qi Condensation rookie like himself to expect to survive through times like that was simply daydreaming.
No wonder the Emperor had been so furious at the sight of him that day.
In a moment like this, what the Emperor wanted to see most were scholars with real cultivation talent, not a fifth level Qi Condensation piece of trash like him.
Adam had no patience left to humor Oswin. He picked up a book from his desk, hoping to settle his nerves with a bit of reading.
It was a biography recording the life of Sword Saint Arthur.
Sword Saint Arthur had walked a rough and bitter road. He had risen to fame in his youth, blessed with extraordinary talent in the Way of the Sword. But that talent had been ruined overnight, and the childhood sweetheart he had grown up beside ended up leaving him for another man.
His warm and loving family had been wiped out by enemies, his beloved parents slaughtered. Heart utterly broken, Arthur threw himself from a cliff, only to unexpectedly inherit the legacy of a nameless Sword Saint, eventually obtaining the Thirteen Heaven-Shattering Swords.
Once Adam had finished reading the account with full attention, he couldn’t help but admit, deep down, that this Sword Saint Arthur really had lived a life full of hardship.

Adam was left somewhat stunned. What in the world were these two notification voices ringing inside his head? Could it be that his transmigrator’s cheat had finally arrived?!
This really is a transmigrator’s cheat! What just happened wasn’t an illusion at all. Does this mean I can actually cultivate now?!
A flash of joy crossed Adam’s eyes, and his heart silently cheered.
Just a moment ago, when he had heard Oswin mention the Sixth Heaven and Earth Upheaval, Adam had felt as though the end of the world was bearing down on him. But with the help of this system, everything had changed.
Even if someone managed to defy the heavens and rise during the Sixth Upheaval, kicking up a monstrous storm of blood across the lands of Silver Willow Dynasty, Adam felt no panic at all anymore.
As long as he honestly buried himself inside Inkwood Academy for the next thirty years, quietly compiling historical texts, he refused to believe anyone out there could measure up to him once he had cheats of his own to lean on.
But what made Adam happier still was that, with the help of the system, he would now be able to cultivate his way up to an extremely high realm.
