Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Start

Roe had finished everything he wanted to do. Everything he needed to.

He was now awaiting Lot’s summons.

This free time left him thinking. This was when he remembered something he hadn’t done.

He had all those reward points from the C-rank rift raid.

He pulled up his total reward points. He got only 1000 reward points.

Roe pulled out his inventory. This was in view from his staff.

The staff could create something like a system interface.

This is how mages would trade reward points for new spells.

"Now it’s time to spend these 1000 points," he said.

He pulled up his inventory. The inventory would contain only the spells he’d already purchased. Those ones in his possession.

No. 790. Field of Power.

No. 791. Pulse Field.

No. 100. Potential Trope.

No. 5. Negative Energies.

No. 12. Electrical Energy.

These were all the spells in his inventory.

When mages purchased spells, they’re given no description of the spell. This was to avoid them from getting only the most overpowered spells.

Magic operated on the principle of balance.

This was the reason the association didn’t allow scholars to publish books detailing too deeply the intricacies of talents.

The only ways mages could gain the good spells was through communication. When one mage on a team of mages with similar talent bought a spell that was worthwhile, he would tell the others. That way they too would know that the spell was worthwhile, and then they could decide for themselves if they too wanted such a spell.

There was a general rule that guided the number system.

Spells with higher number counts tended to be more powerful. This wasn’t always the case, but on average it was a good bet.

Spells were usually gatekept with numbers. These were minimum point numbers.

Roe’s 1000 points could only be spent on spells 100 and down. These were the only places with spells worth that amount. In other words, these were affordable.

"Ok. It seems spell 99 is exactly 1000 points," Roe thought. ’But should I spend everything on just this one spell?’

’What if it’s not even worth it?’

’Maybe I shouldn’t be risky and just take two lesser spells. This would increase my chances of getting a worthwhile spell.’

’No. That’s also stupid. Doing this would also increase my risk of getting limited spells, as they would be lower numbers.’

’I’ll take the risk.’

He swiped on his staff’s interface and made the purchase.

Spell 99.

The description immediately came on.

Kinetic Trope.

The Kinetic Trope is a spell much similar to the Potential Trope. It would prove to be more useful, however, as it could drain the energies present in moving bodies and supply these accumulated energies to its user.

Roe was excited. This could open up a whole new fighting style for him.

There was just one thing.

He personally wouldn’t need it that much.

He was an SSS-rank mage. His mana pool was too vast for any of this to really matter.

’Why steal energy when yours is too vast to begin with?’

He could maybe think of more creative ways to use this later.

Just after he made the purchase, Lot came into the general hall.

"I was thinking I would have to look for you, but here you are," he said.

"Well, before we head out, I should probably tell you what’s up and how things are going to go."

Roe just nodded.

He’d been going along blindly. This wasn’t his style. He was frankly getting tired of just doing what he was being told. Now they were giving him an option. Barely though, but better than just orders.

"There’s this thing called a convergence," Lot said.

"It’s happening. You and that Zach are a product of this. There could be two more of you out there."

"Our mission is simple. We are to find these two other emergences in the convergence."

This was all Lot said.

Roe understood immediately. After all, this was what he spent a while of his time studying.

"So people like you and me, Master?" Roe said.

Lot didn’t respond.

He was just surprised that Roe knew.

How could he?

Lot’s emergence was known by very little people.

Few would even suspect because he was only an S-rank. No one should see the abnormality.

Roe saw it.

He’d been deep in research after all.

Roe didn’t stress when he realized that Lot wasn’t going to talk about it.

"So do we have any leads?" Roe asked.

"Well, we do. There’s a circle that seems to know more than we do. We’re hoping to do things with them. A temporary alliance of sorts," Lot said.

"Ok, let’s do it then."

"Which circle?" Roe asked. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"Have you heard of the Circle of Faith?" Lot asked.

"Can’t say I have," Roe responded.

"Well, that’s where we are heading over to. They have all the details. We need the details, so we’ll make our way over."

"I’m sure you’ve gotten yourself all prepped. We can leave, can we not?" Lot asked.

"Yeah, we can," Roe responded.

He gave Roe a cloak.

"This circle uses a temple as well. They are having a showcase of power today. You’ve been announced to the world. We can’t have them recognizing you."

"We really just need to see this showcase. We’ll discuss how to proceed after."

"You’ve got that right?" Lot asked.

"Yeah." Roe nodded.

They immediately were teleported to the Temple of Faith.

Roe was disoriented.

"Are you alright?" Lot asked.

"Yeah. It’s just the teleportation disorienting me."

"I’m good," he responded.

’We teleported.’

Roe thought.

’I thought Lot’s talent was the Time element.’

’What’s going on?’

-

The circle of Merlin were not the only ones who realized something was up. Another group had sent mages to investigate the Faith circle as well.

Both parties would probably come head to head. What would go down after their encounter could determine the trajectory of humanity’s evolution into the next era.
