Gorgeous Female Tenants
Chapter 447: Art Exhibition
Hearing that he can settle accounts one truck at a time, Fat Liu was even happier. Originally, the procurement managers of Thunderbird Group settled accounts every ten trucks, resulting in a lot of shipping costs being suppressed.
He vowed, "Of course, given your relationship with Lu Daan, I guarantee your order will be the first. But there’s one problem."
Seeing Fat Liu’s embarrassed look, Xu Xiangbei smiled and said, "You mean these truck drivers I injured? Don’t worry, according to the rules of blood flow, their pain will disappear in five minutes. But a word of advice for you all: don’t resort to violence at the drop of a hat, or you’ll only end up hurting yourselves."
"Dr. Xu is right, we will be careful."
The detained ore trucks were personally driven back by Lu Daan, resolving the truck problem. Xu Xiangbei and Xiao Li also returned to Thunderbird Company together.
In the company’s parking lot, Xu Xiangbei saw a Ferrari as red as fire. Taking another glance at the license plate, he recognized it as Shen Congru’s car, meaning this banker’s son was currently in his office.
Before reaching the office, Monica, dressed in a light red dress that outlined her graceful and charming figure, smiled and reported to Xu Xiangbei.
"President Xu, Young Master Shen is waiting for you in your office."
"Oh, okay, I’m going right over."
Pushing open the office door, Shen Congru was sitting on the sofa holding a coffee cup, drinking coffee and admiring an oil painting on the office wall.
The oil painting was one from a series imitating European famous paintings, titled "Girl on the Beach under Moonlight." Xu Xiangbei didn’t know the master who created it, but often saw the same paintings scattered throughout the company.
The former office manager must have bought a large batch of such cheap and vulgar oil paintings from some art merchant to decorate the company. On the surface, it seemed fashionable, but it was an illusion, even less delightful than hanging a prosperity character on the wall.
Xu Xiangbei smiled and asked, "Young Master Shen, you came without even calling me."
Shen Congru, with his usual genteel smile, said, "I called Monica, she said you were at the company. Who knew after I arrived, you were nowhere to be found, and she didn’t know where you went. I was about to call you, then you returned."
Xu Xiangbei forgot to notify Monica in his haste to resolve the truck dispute with Xiao Li.
Xu Xiangbei joked, "My nickname is Divine Dragon, show head but not tail."
With a critical expression, Shen Congru spoke clearly to Xu Xiangbei: "I now realize that you’re too tired, working all day, reviewing documents, thinking about the company’s future development. You need to relax and let your body and mind breathe free air. And I feel that your company’s cultural atmosphere is quite poor. For example, this oil painting in your office is simply shoddy; it should be replaced with a real piece of art."
Xu Xiangbei squinted and laughed, "Just say it straight, Young Master Shen. You’re giving me this whole riddle to solve, and my IQ isn’t high enough to crack it."
Throwing a couple of colorful admission tickets onto Xu Xiangbei’s desk, Shen Congru explained his visit with a smile.
"These are tickets to Saturday’s art exhibition. Going to an art exhibition alone is boring. Can you come with me?"
Picking up the tickets, Xu Xiangbei looked at the theme introduction, discovering it was a classical watercolor splash exhibition, mainly featuring works from young artists and also selling them on site.
Xu Xiangbei laughed, "You’re not asking me to accompany you to see an exhibition but to help you buy a few paintings to give you some face."
Shen Congru took a sip of coffee. "Smart. My friend is the curator of this exhibition, and to avoid a dull scene, we need someone to actively buy a few paintings at the exhibition to show our strong pursuit of art. Those young artists need us art connoisseurs, who are willing to spend money on art, to support them."
Flipping through the tickets in hand, Xu Xiangbei shook his head and laughed. "I get what you mean, we’re just shills who actively spend money on paintings. But I’m not interested in these paintings; they don’t seem very valuable."
Shen Congru looked disdainful. "You’ve exposed your ugly capitalist nature—money comes first. We’re talking about art, about passion for life, do you understand?"
Xu Xiangbei continued shaking his head, indicating he didn’t understand.
Shen Congru felt at a loss for words and bluntly said, "There are several beautiful female artist works at the exhibition. If you’re willing to buy their paintings, maybe you can get close to them."
"Haha, my banker, you’ve fully exposed your wolfish nature. Pretending to pursue art, when really you’re interested in the female artists."
"You say it too directly. The value of art is measured by money, nourished by passion. If we don’t support them, they’ll wither like delicate flowers."
Xu Xiangbei suddenly noticed a few young artists’ names on the tickets, one of which he recognized, Su Xinyun. He recalled seeing Su Xinyun in Yanjing, her charming and slender figure in a diagonal gold dress.
As Su Xinyun’s works were in the exhibition, Xu Xiangbei became interested and smiled, "Alright, let’s visit the exhibition on Saturday, and my office indeed needs a new painting to make it more artistic, rather than, as you said, all about money."
Seeing Xu Xiangbei agree to accompany him to the art exhibition and buy new works from young artists, Shen Congru thought he had successfully persuaded him. Proudly, he smiled, "That’s a good kid. Don’t just focus on making money. After earning money, you should enhance your cultivation and improve your ability to appreciate art. Tomorrow, should I pick you up, or will you pick me up?"
Xu Xiangbei smiled and said, "Let’s take my Porsche. Your Ferrari is too flamboyant, too overwhelming artistically."
Shen Congru’s eyes were sharp, as if seeing through Xu Xiangbei’s thoughts, he smiled faintly, "Smooth talker. You mean my car is too feminine, right?"
Xu Xiangbei couldn’t help but laugh, "You said it, not me."
"Then I’ll go now. After tomorrow’s exhibition, we should invite some of the young artists for a meal. Would you like to join?"
"Of course, if I don’t join, wouldn’t my painting purchase be in vain? Dining with beautiful female artists is the ultimate purpose of attending the exhibition."
Shen Congru laughed, "I suddenly realized, inviting you to an art exhibition is a kind of sacrilege against art. My god, forgive me."
Xu Xiangbei, with a cheeky grin, called out to Shen Congru’s departing figure, "You’re mistaken, dining with beautiful female artists isn’t a sacrilege to art, it’s an elevation of its realm."
