Chapter 180: The Dream Weaver’s Dimensional Reduction Strike
Li Wei looked up, staring at the huge, single eye in the sky.
His heart was unsettled.
The Dream World had given birth to its own consciousness.
The consciousness of the dream was observing Li Wei.
Li Wei’s actions had unintentionally helped the newly born consciousness of the dream to perfect itself.
After absorbing the scattered consciousness of the man in the black robe, the dream’s consciousness was gradually becoming whole.
Li Wei felt this was an incredibly tricky situation.
To deal with the man in the black robe, he just had to destroy his body to make him temporarily lose control of the dream.
Then he could seize the opportunity to take control of the dream and make the Dream Bubble self-destruct.
But the Dream Bubble had given birth to its own consciousness.
Li Wei couldn’t seize control.
He would have to destroy the entire Dream Bubble with his own Power.
Only then could he destroy the source of the black miasma.
With his current Power, Li Wei couldn’t do that at all.
They weren’t even on the same order of magnitude.
Li Wei’s only method for destroying the Dream Bubble was to use its own power to make it self-destruct.
Now, that trick was useless.
He was out of options.
’Can I really do nothing but watch as their minds are corrupted by the Evil God Cultists?’
Li Wei couldn’t accept it.
A name suddenly surfaced in his mind.
Torresta.
’If you’re really a Sleepwalker too, why haven’t you made a move?’
Li Wei was puzzled.
If Torresta were also a Sleepwalker, with his power, he would have definitely noticed the shocking changes happening inside the Mage Tower.
He was able to create the Illusion Technique.
He could bring Dream Creations into the real world.
His Power within dreams was definitely not to be underestimated.
It would be more than enough to deal with a Black Cultist who was barely stronger than Li Wei.
But why hadn’t Torresta made a move?
’If there’s no other way, this is my only option.’
Li Wei had one last resort.
If he couldn’t win, he could only run.
He could take Gu Ze, Rota, and the others and hide in one of the Wandering God Association’s Dream Bubbles.
But considering that Gu Ze and Rota weren’t Sleepwalkers...
...rashly taking them out of the Dream Bubble and to the Wandering God Association...
...might cause them to become completely lost in the dream, unable to return to reality.
They would end up becoming Lost Souls.
Li Wei didn’t want to resort to this method unless it was his absolute last option.
He couldn’t return to reality right now.
Otherwise, a better solution would be to wake everyone from their sleep.
But all of these were subpar options.
The optimal choice was to clear out all the black miasma within the dream and deal with its source.
Li Wei had almost done it.
The single eye in the sky seemed to have observed enough.
The dream’s consciousness began to attack Li Wei.
Li Wei braced himself as if facing a formidable foe.
Suddenly, the eyeball of the dream’s consciousness trembled violently and turned in a new direction.
Li Wei followed its gaze.
A speck of white light appeared in the pitch-black dream.
Then, the white light pierced through the entire dream, overwhelming Li Wei’s consciousness.
In an instant, Li Wei lost consciousness.
His mind went completely blank.
When he came to, everything around him had changed.
The twisted, black dream was gone.
He was standing in the plaza in front of the Mage Tower, and everything had returned to normal.
The dream was collapsing.
The Mage Tower shattered and dissipated bit by bit.
The mind-polluting black miasma had vanished.
’What just happened?’
Li Wei was filled with questions.
He only remembered seeing a flash of white light.
And then, it was all over.
Leaving the collapsing Dream Bubble, Li Wei found himself back on the River of Dreams.
He looked down.
The waters of the dream river beneath his feet seemed to have been defiled, taking on the appearance of black, murky water.
However, under the influence of a mysterious power...
...the black, murky water was continuously receding until it vanished completely.
The river’s waters returned to normal.
The Dream Bubble also returned to normal.
The sound of splashing footsteps echoed.
Li Wei turned his head.
A figure came into view.
He revealed a look of surprise.
With a thought, Li Wei cast the Illusion Technique, and a Black Iron Mask covered his face.
Hiding his identity.
Li Wei spotted Tanya just before she spotted him.
Tanya looked at him in surprise. "It’s you?"
Li Wei asked, confused, "What?"
Tanya said, "The Wandering God Association sent us to find an abnormal fluctuation in the dream. They said a part of the dream was having issues."
"Was this your doing?" Tanya asked.
Li Wei shook his head. "No. You’re late."
He pointed to the black miasma that had almost completely vanished.
"This is the source of the anomaly."
Tanya glanced over, her expression turning grave.
"Black Cultists?"
’Looks like some Black Cultists were holding a sacrificial rite to an Evil God in Maple City,’ Tanya thought.
Seeing her reaction, Li Wei knew that Tanya must be quite familiar with this matter.
He asked, "How did these corrupted dreams recover on their own?"
Tanya shook her head. "They didn’t. A Dream Weaver from the Wandering God Association took action."
"A Dream Weaver?"
Li Wei heard the title of Dream Weaver once again.
A Dream Weaver could actually rewrite dreams directly.
Such an ability was simply incredible.
The dream’s consciousness had completely grasped the Power of the dream.
Within its own Dream Bubble, it should have been an invincible existence.
But alas, it ran into a Dream Weaver, who dealt it a blow from a completely different league.
It was like an invincible player in a video game running into a GM who performs a one-click server rollback.
They weren’t opponents on the same level at all.
The crisis at the Mage Tower could be considered over for now.
Tanya took out a Soul Crystal, collected a wisp of the black miasma, and prepared to take it back to complete her mission.
"If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving."
"Goodbye."
The two didn’t know each other well, so there wasn’t much to talk about.
Tanya returned to the Wandering God Association with her mission item.
Li Wei waited for her to leave before returning to his safe house.
This time, he used the Great Dream Traveling Skill.
He successfully left the Dream World and returned to reality.
The moment Li Wei opened his eyes, he heard the sounds of battle outside.
He hurried to the window.
Several figures in black robes were being besieged and hunted down by Magic Puppets.
The bodies of many black-robed figures already littered the area.
Even without the Dream Weaver’s intervention, the Mage Tower’s Magic Puppets could have killed all the Black Cultists.
It was unclear if they could have saved everyone, though.
At least, for now, the crisis’s impact on the Mage Tower wasn’t as great as Li Wei had imagined.
BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ!
His Magic Badge vibrated.
The voice of the Magic Butler came from within.
"The Mage Tower has been attacked by Black Cultists, and some Mages have been affected. To ensure the safety within the Mage Tower, all Mages are to gather on the third floor at eight o’clock tomorrow morning for a psychological evaluation."
"The Mage Tower will assist all affected personnel in their recovery. Please do not be alarmed."
Li Wei watched as two of the black-robed figures were killed and one fled.
The Magic Puppets were cleaning up the battlefield, delivering finishing blows to any who weren’t dead yet.
There was no need for mercy with Black Cultists.
Nor was there any need to capture them.
Summary execution!
You couldn’t get any useful information out of an ordinary Black Cultist.
They were just ordinary people who had been brainwashed and granted evil Extraordinary Power.
They didn’t even count as Extraordinary Professionals.
Li Wei went out to find Gu Ze.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
"Teacher Gu Ze, are you all right?"
Li Wei asked as he knocked on the door.
A moment later, the door opened and a haggard-looking Gu Ze walked out.
He looked at Li Wei with a strange expression on his face.
"I think... I’m starting to remember some things."
