Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 183: The Mastermind
Lair!
The person who gave the Blood Sacrifice Ceremony to the nobleman was actually Lair.
Li Wei was also quite surprised.
Lair was Allen’s apprentice.
Li Wei had once fought him and even saved his life.
Li Wei couldn’t help but wonder if Allen knew that Lair had obtained the Blood Sacrifice Ceremony and was spreading it around.
This question was critical.
"It seems the problem has gotten more serious."
’Lair, why would you do this?’
In a dim room, a red light flared, illuminating Lair’s cold face.
"Li Wei, I will definitely become stronger than you!"
He had just received a surge of Power from a sacrifice made by one of his subordinates.
Feeling the ever-growing Power within him, a somewhat terrifying smile appeared on Lair’s cold face.
"Heh heh, a genius?"
"I’ll show everyone who the real genius is!"
Li Wei brought the nobleman back to the Mage Tower.
After receiving a Gold Coin as payment, the guide left, overjoyed.
"Thank you, Master Mage! Thank you, Master Mage!"
Li Wei looked at Rota, who was now in charge of interrogating the captured Evil God Cultists.
"What will happen to this man?" Li Wei asked.
Rota said, "It depends. He might be thrown in the dungeon, or he might be executed directly."
"There’s no need to show any mercy to Evil God Cultists. The evil they’ve committed is far greater than you can imagine."
Li Wei nodded. "I know."
He had seen in his dreams what the man had done with his Extraordinary Power.
Having been bullied by others in the past, he naturally bullied them back after gaining Power.
He bullied them back with a vengeance.
The wicked deeds involved were unspeakable.
"I’m leaving,"
Li Wei said, turning to go.
Rota quickly called out to him. "Where are you going? I have a few more leads here. Do you want them?"
Li Wei shook his head. "No need. I have a lead."
His Magic Badge vibrated. 15 Contribution points had been added.
’The reward for capturing people really is high.’
’This pays out much faster than regular missions.’
Just as Li Wei stepped out of the Mage Tower, he saw Lilia outside with a worried look on her face.
"What are you doing here?" Li Wei asked.
When Lilia saw him, she hurried over.
"Mage Martin told me to sneak into the City Lord’s Mansion to look for Evil God Cultists."
"That’s too dangerous! I can’t even fight. What if I run into an Evil God Cultist?"
Lilia looked distressed.
Li Wei gave her an idea.
"Just go to the City Lord’s Mansion, state your purpose, sit there for a day, and come back at night saying you didn’t find anyone."
Lilia stared at Li Wei with wide eyes and asked, "Will that really work?"
"Go on. It’ll definitely work. The City Lord’s Mansion will treat you to good food and drinks,"
Li Wei said deliberately.
Lilia hesitated for a moment, then nodded forcefully. "Okay, I will."
"I’ll go right now."
After taking a few steps, she turned and looked back at Li Wei.
Her hand fumbled in her pocket for a moment.
But she came up empty-handed.
"What is it?" Li Wei asked, watching her.
Lilia shook her head. "It’s nothing. I’m going now."
She had just been thinking of asking Li Wei to exchange for some Gold Coins.
The Gold Coins she had gotten from him last time had disappeared again.
Lilia hesitated, afraid she would lose them again.
She didn’t dare ask Li Wei for more Gold Coins.
Li Wei turned and walked toward the Mage Association.
Although Allen was the chief instructor of the City Lord’s Mansion’s Mage Tutoring Corps, the group he had brought from Extreme Night City hadn’t joined it.
This group was all living at the Mage Association.
’Lair should be there as well.’
Li Wei decided to go take a look.
Suddenly, a glint of gold on the ground caught his eye.
He turned his head to look.
A gleaming Gold Coin lay on the ground.
The Shadow Attendant picked up the Gold Coin and placed it in Li Wei’s hand.
Li Wei held the Gold Coin up to the sunlight, examining it for a moment, and confirmed it was real.
’Not bad luck. A good start.’
’Heh heh.’
Putting away the Gold Coin, Li Wei continued toward the Mage Association.
"Hello, I’m looking for Mage Lair. Is he in?"
"And who might you be?" the receptionist asked.
"My name is Li Wei."
The receptionist’s eyes widened in surprise when he gave his name.
She had also heard of Li Wei’s reputation.
Realizing who he was, she quickly said, "Mage Li Wei, please wait a moment. I’ll contact Mage Lair."
"Mm, thank you," Li Wei nodded.
"Please have a seat, Mage Li Wei."
The receptionist poured him a cup of hot tea, treating him with great hospitality.
Li Wei sat in the Mage Association’s reception room.
The receptionist went to find Lair.
Li Wei had finished a cup of hot tea by the time the receptionist returned.
"I’m sorry, Mage Lair isn’t here right now. He went out this morning."
Li Wei stood up. "If he comes back, please let me know."
"It’s no trouble at all, no trouble at all. Please take care, Mage Li Wei."
The receptionist escorted Li Wei to the entrance of the Mage Association.
Watching Li Wei’s retreating figure, she felt a surge of excitement.
’I can’t believe Mage Li Wei is so young. He looks even younger than me.’
Li Wei walked along the street, watching the Professionals hurrying to and fro.
’Where did Lair go?’
’Ah, that’s right. Maybe I should go and sound out Mage Allen first.’
Li Wei turned and headed in the direction of the City Lord’s Mansion.
When he reached the entrance of the City Lord’s Mansion, he happened to run into Lilia, who was pacing back and forth by the gate.
Li Wei said in surprise, "You’re still here?"
Hearing his voice, Lilia turned to look at him and hurried over.
"I’m so scared! What if they find out I’m a fake?"
"What’s there to be afraid of? Don’t be scared!"
"What fake? You’re the real deal, the one and only Lilith."
"Alright, you’re coming in with me."
’Perfect. I wasn’t sure what pretext to use to enter the City Lord’s Mansion anyway.’
"Halt! What are you two doing here?"
The guards at the City Lord’s Mansion stopped them.
Li Wei presented his Magic Badge and said, "Li Wei, Official Mage of the Maple City Mage Tower. We require the City Lord’s Mansion to cooperate with the investigation into the Black Cultist attacks."
"Go away, go away. If you need to investigate, do it somewhere else. What are you doing at the City Lord’s Mansion?"
The guard’s attitude was not friendly.
Li Wei looked at Lilia, who froze for a moment before she understood.
She took out the assistance decree issued by the City Lord’s Mansion.
"Otz City Lord has already ordered full cooperation with the Mage Tower in searching for Black Cultists. Are you trying to defy the City Lord’s orders?" Li Wei said, looking at the two guards.
One of the guards was about to say something, but the other one quickly pulled him back.
He said with an apologetic smile, "Please come in, you two Master Mages. Since it’s the City Lord’s order, we will of course cooperate fully."
"Please, come in. Come in."
Li Wei and Lilia walked into the City Lord’s Mansion.
The City Lord’s Mansion was huge; they would probably get lost without a guide.
Fortunately, soon after they entered, they ran into the Steward of the City Lord’s Mansion.
When the Steward saw them, he quickly asked, "Are you two Master Mages here to investigate?"
Li Wei said, "She is here to investigate. I’m here to see Mage Allen."
"And you are, if I may ask?" the Steward asked cautiously, glancing at Li Wei.
"My name is Li Wei," Li Wei said.
’Huh. My name is starting to carry some weight in Maple City without me even realizing it.’
Upon hearing this, the Steward said quickly, "So you are Mage Li Wei! Mage Allen happens to be in the mansion right now. Please, follow me."
He glanced at a nearby maid and said, "You, take this Master Mage to a guest room."
"Yes, sir."
"Master Mage, please follow me."
