Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 256: Special Reward: Cultivation Card
Li Wei waited in the research lab for news from Hobbes.
Everyone in the research lab looked at Li Wei with newfound respect.
They greatly admired his talent and knowledge.
He had solved a problem that had plagued them for months right after arriving.
There was nothing that could win over a Magic Scholar more easily than solving a difficult problem.
Especially a problem they couldn’t solve themselves.
With nothing better to do in the research lab, Li Wei noticed several Low Tier Magic spells being studied.
He picked them all up and began to analyze them.
When Hobbes returned, he found everyone in the research lab completely silent. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He looked surprised.
’What’s going on?’
Usually, the research lab was incredibly noisy and bustling with activity.
’Why is everyone so quiet today?’
Walking into the research lab, Hobbes saw Li Wei writing on a piece of paper.
Everyone else was staring eagerly at Li Wei.
Hobbes pulled someone aside and asked, "What’s going on?"
The person replied, "Li Wei just improved several more Magic Models. We tested them, and the improvements are practically perfect."
"Now he’s improving one of our group’s biggest problems—the Fire Element Shield."
Li Wei put down his pen. "Alright, that should just about do it."
He wrote down his improvements to the Fire Element Shield on the paper.
The biggest problem with the Fire Element Shield was that its stability was much lower compared to other elemental shields.
The Fire Element is more suited for attack, not defense.
Li Wei’s improvements maximized the Fire Element Shield’s Defense Power.
Li Wei looked up, saw Hobbes, and smiled. "How did it go?"
Hobbes said with a smile, "Good news."
"After a discussion among several Hall Masters of the Hall of Truth, they’ve already applied to the Elemental Tower for a reward."
"The preliminary decision is thirty Credit Points and a seven-day Cultivation Card."
Upon hearing this, Li Wei was very satisfied.
’With these thirty Credit Points, plus the ones from improving these Magic Models, I should have enough to reach one hundred. I’ll be able to go to the Divine Hall of Light in Storm City to remove the Evil God Curse soon!’
Li Wei’s mood improved greatly.
He asked curiously, "What’s a seven-day Cultivation Card?"
He had never heard of such a thing before.
Hobbes said, "It’s usage time for the Cultivation Secret Realm."
"A seven-day Cultivation Card lets you use the Cultivation Secret Realm for seven days, and you can split up the time."
Li Wei’s eyes lit up. ’This is great stuff.’
Hobbes said, "Don’t be in a hurry. We just submitted the application for the reward, so it’ll take some time for it to be issued."
"How are the improvements on the Fire Element Shield coming along? Let me see."
Li Wei picked up the draft and showed it to him.
After just a few glances, Hobbes was completely absorbed.
As he read, he pondered and compared, working through the Magic Model in his mind.
After more than ten minutes, Hobbes put down the draft, silent and speechless.
Seeing his silence, the others grew curious about what was written on the paper.
Just how good were Li Wei’s improvements?
Why was Hobbes so quiet? ’Don’t tell me the improvements are bad.’
He looked at Li Wei and gave a bitter smile.
"Are you really only sixteen years old?"
"You know far too much. Even an old scholar who has specialized in Fire Element Magic for decades might not be able to come up with this."
Hobbes shook his head and sighed.
"No wonder those people from the Purple Level Class look down on scholars like us. So this is the chasm between us and geniuses like you."
"For you, it might just be a flash of inspiration, but for us, it takes decades of painstaking research."
He suddenly felt quite discouraged.
His very faith in his persistent research into Magic Truth began to waver.
’He didn’t understand. If magical progress was driven by geniuses like Li Wei, then what contribution could ordinary people like him possibly make?’
’What was the point of their work?’
However, he quickly reaffirmed his conviction.
Although he was a bit discouraged, he wouldn’t give up that easily.
From the very beginning, his dedication to magic research stemmed from pure passion.
’And that was reason enough.’
Hobbes passed the draft paper to the person behind him.
Everyone crowded over to look together, letting out gasps of amazement from time to time as they read.
"Holy shit, this is incredible! It can be done like this?"
"Why didn’t I ever think of this step?"
"The design is so ingenious, it’s unbelievable! It feels like the Magic Model was always meant to be this way!"
"It’s a work of genius! So perfectly natural!"
"A stroke of genius!"
Hobbes could see that Li Wei seemed to be in great need of Credit Points.
He said, "I’ll submit all the Magic Models you’ve improved. The Credit Point rewards should arrive in a few days."
Li Wei nodded. "Thank you."
"Don’t mention it."
「Three days later.」
Li Wei received the reward for contributing a brand new spell.
Thirty Credit Points and a seven-day Cultivation Card.
The Credit Points for the modified spells also trickled in over the past three days.
With those thirty Credit Points, Li Wei’s total broke one hundred, reaching 115.75.
He now met the requirement to use the Teleportation Array to go to Storm City.
Li Wei prepared to head to the Divine Hall of Light in Storm City to purify the Evil God Curse.
Before leaving, he had two more things to prepare.
The first was to prepare a gift.
He was going to visit the Grand Archbishop of the Divine Hall of Light and ask for his help in purifying the Evil God Curse.
Naturally, he couldn’t go empty-handed.
The Holy Emblem of Light from Torresta was just a foot in the door.
It would give him a chance to meet the Grand Archbishop.
Whether or not the Grand Archbishop would help purify the Evil God Curse would depend on his own abilities.
Li Wei was also a little troubled, not knowing what would be a good gift.
A person of the Grand Archbishop’s caliber had basically already reached the pinnacle of human society.
It would be very difficult to find something that could impress him.
The second thing was the Dragon Blood Tree.
The Dragon Blood Tree’s condition was getting worse and worse.
Li Wei managed to get a small bottle of "high-concentration" Sub-Dragon Species of Magical Beast blood from the Zui Wan Commerce Association.
After feeding it to the Dragon Blood Tree, it only perked up for a day.
The next day, the Dragon Blood Tree wilted again.
Seeing the Dragon Blood Tree’s condition worsen by the day, Li Wei grew very frustrated.
He had even drawn his own blood for it several times, but to no avail.
After much thought, Li Wei came up with a solution, albeit a risky one.
「Late that night.」
Li Wei walked out of his room and approached the Dragon Blood Tree.
He glanced around, and after confirming no one was there, Li Wei took out the Dragon Heart.
’Come on, just squeeze out a little bit more.’
Li Wei used the Object Control Skill, and a blue hand of Mana squeezed the Dragon Heart hard,
trying to squeeze a drop of Dragon Blood out of the Dragon Heart.
The Dragon Heart was too tough, and Li Wei found it very strenuous.
He pressed the Dragon Heart directly against the Dragon Blood Tree.
"Absorb it! Come on, absorb it!"
’The Dragon Blood Tree can absorb my blood.’
’Now let’s see if it can absorb even a tiny bit of Dragon Blood from the Dragon Heart.’
After a moment, a blood-red tendril spread out from the Dragon Blood Tree.
In an instant, Li Wei felt a powerful Life Force gush out from within the Dragon Heart.
The Dragon Blood Tree’s wilted leaves instantly straightened, turning a luscious, vibrant green.
Like sweet rain after a long drought.
「A distant Ancient Battlefield.」
The silent land of white bones trembled as countless Undead clawed their way out of the ground.
They advanced in a single direction, converging into a vast sea.
The Undead Calamity!
