Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Gratitude

Ares had just finished carefully bathing Lu Xiao when he heard a knock on the door.

She was so exhausted she had fallen asleep.

Ares casually threw on a bathrobe, stepped out of the room, and opened the door to find the recovered Longba and his friend standing outside.

Startled to see Ares emerge, the two men froze for a moment before quickly speaking. "Your Excellency Ares, hello. We came to thank Her Excellency Lu Xiao for treating me. I’ve completely recovered now."

Ares wasn’t surprised by the purpose of their visit. "It’s not a convenient time. She just fell asleep. I’ll pass on your gratitude to her. Alternatively, you can come back tomorrow morning."

Hearing this, the two men immediately said, "Of course, of course. Thank you, Your Excellency Ares. We won’t disturb you any longer. Please let Her Excellency Lu Xiao get some rest."

Without another word, the two of them departed in a hurry.

After watching them leave, Ares turned, went back inside, closed the door, then got into bed, wrapped his arms around her, and fell asleep.

When Lu Xiao woke up again, it was the next morning.

They would be arriving at Flower Sea Star that afternoon, a prospect that filled Lu Xiao with anticipation. She had already picked out the clothes she wanted to wear when they disembarked.

Ares told her about Longba and his friend coming by to express their gratitude while she was asleep.

"Oh, is he all right now?"

"Yes, he said he’s completely fine."

"That’s good." Lu Xiao nodded, then stood in front of the mirror to look at her new dress. "Does this look good on me?"

It was a small blue and white floral dress, and it looked crisp and clear against Lu Xiao’s figure. The young woman already had snow-white skin, and the dress gave her a clean, refreshing look.

It wasn’t just that she was beautiful. To Ares, Lu Xiao was like a small sun, full of warmth and vitality.

Ares nodded and walked over to embrace her. "Xiao Xiao, you look beautiful in everything. I want to hide you away... what should I do?"

"Then go ahead and hide me. But after you do, you have to remember where you put me. Don’t forget about me." Lu Xiao reached out to hug him, nuzzling into his embrace.

After changing, Lu Xiao and Ares left for the restaurant. Along the way, they inevitably ran into people who recognized them, and Lu Xiao responded to each one with a smile.

The restaurant wasn’t too crowded, and the atmosphere was pleasant. After Lu Xiao and Ares found a window seat, a waiter immediately came over to serve them, though he seemed a bit flustered when he faced Lu Xiao.

When their eyes met, the waiter blushed beet-red. "I’m so sorry, I’m a fan of yours. This is my first time seeing you up close... I’m having a little trouble controlling myself."

Lu Xiao was a little surprised; she hadn’t realized she had fans. "It’s all right. Don’t be nervous."

"R-right, I’m not nervous. Um... Your Excellency Lu Xiao, could I have your autograph?" the waiter asked cautiously, as if terrified of displeasing her.

But Lu Xiao readily agreed. "Would you like a photo together?"

"C-can I?" The waiter was ecstatic. It all happened so fast; he thought just getting an autograph would be amazing, but he never dreamed he could get a picture too.

Lu Xiao stood up and moved to his side, and Ares very naturally took a photo of the two of them.

When the waiter received the photo, he looked like he was about to cry. "Thank you, Your Excellency Lu Xiao! Thank you so, so much! SOB... I can’t serve you anymore. I’ll have someone else come over. I need to calm down."

With that, he scurried away. A moment later, another waiter ran over and apologized. "I’m sorry, Your Excellency Lu Xiao. He’s a bit too emotional right now. I’ll be serving you. I hope you don’t mind."

"Not at all." Lu Xiao waved her hand with an amused smile, indicating that she didn’t mind, and then ordered breakfast with Ares.

It had to be said, the chefs on this starship were very skilled. Everything they made was delicious.

At the very least, it added a lot of enjoyment to their honeymoon trip.

However, when Lu Xiao got up to pay after their meal, she was told their table had already been paid for.

Lu Xiao paused, then smiled. "May I ask who paid for us?"

"We’re unable to look up that person’s information. I’m sorry, Your Excellency Lu Xiao."

Lu Xiao nodded in understanding. "All right, then. Thank you."

She then gave Ares a helpless look. ’It must have been another well-wisher, silently expressing their gratitude,’ she thought.

She initially thought this was an isolated incident, but as she encountered it many more times throughout the rest of their journey, she realized there were many people who expressed their gratitude in this way.

When they returned to their suite, they saw Longba and his friend standing outside the door. They had no idea how long the two had been waiting. They were very obedient; Ares had told them to come this morning, and so they had.

Seeing Lu Xiao and Ares return, they hurried to greet them. Longba walked up to Lu Xiao and gave her a deep, 90-degree bow. "Your Excellency Lu Xiao, thank you for saving me!"

Lu Xiao didn’t shy away, simply saying in a gentle voice, "I can only save you once. For the rest, you need to save yourself."

"I know. I heard everything. You’re right. Only by getting better myself can I give my son a good life. I won’t let myself get stuck in those dark thoughts again."

"Good. That’s for the best. Go home and live well. Things will get better." After encouraging him, Lu Xiao smiled and returned to the room with Ares.

Watching them leave, Longba said, "Her Excellency Lu Xiao is just as gentle and kind as the rumors say."

"I think she’s even better than the rumors."

"Yeah. She’s different from any of the females we know."

Lu Xiao was unaware of the praise from Longba and his friend. For her, the matter was already in the past.

Back in the room, Ares packed their things in preparation for disembarking.

Meanwhile, Lu Xiao contacted the hotel and sent them their disembarkation time so a car would be waiting to take them to the hotel when they exited the spaceport.

That evening, they could also stroll around near the hotel. She had heard there was a street nearby completely lined with flowers, and Lu Xiao wanted to go see it.

Time passed quickly. Finally, as the starship slowly began its descent, Lu Xiao could see the entirety of Flower Sea Star clearly through the window.

Viewed from above, Flower Sea Star truly looked like a ball of flowers.

Its myriad colors, it was said, were a unique spectacle created entirely by blooming flowers.

Lu Xiao couldn’t resist taking a picture. "It looks so beautiful from here!"

As Lu Xiao said this, Ares was looking at her, his eyes filled with a starry light. "Yes, it is beautiful."

To him, no scenery in the world could compare to even a fraction of Lu Xiao. In his eyes, she would forever be the most beautiful view.

Everything else around them was colorless to him.

Feeling the man’s fervent gaze, Lu Xiao looked over. Their eyes met, and she realized what he was really talking about. She laughed and gave him a light tap. "I meant for you to look at *this*!"

"Yes, I see it." Ares leaned in and gave her a kiss. "Very beautiful."

Lu Xiao couldn’t handle his teasing anymore. She threw her arms around his neck and collapsed into his embrace, laughing.

’When did Ares suddenly get so smooth?!’
